Guys anyone using this phone only for texting and calling purpose let me know wat is the battery back up.I heard battery back up is very low for this model.pls tell me how long the battery stands only for texting and calling purpose .thanks in advance

Globally this phone is good, but the battery life is totally disappointing... I have to charge it 2 or 3 times a day...

Hello guys,
there are some S40 phone which support VoIP calls. Fortunately our Asha 302 is one of them :).
Now you need a VoIP provider who allows free calls to Skype like ippi.fr
1. Go make a free account on: www (dot) ippi (dot) fr/index.php?page=home&lang=44&lang=44
2. Connect your phone to WIFI and go into:
Settings - Connectivity - Internet telephone - Accounts
And than a web-site will load with many presets of different VoIP-providers, there you will find ippi.
Choose it and ente your login-details which u created in the first step.
3. Make sure that the following settings are enabled:
A.) Settings - Connectivity - Internet telephone - Connection type
Choose "WLAN only", if you have an unlimited data plan choose "WLAN or 3G"
B.) Settings - Call - Call type setting - Prefere voice call
Now there should appear a phone symbol with a globe in the main screen whenever u connect to WIFI. This means your phone is logged into your ippi-account.
4. Now tell all your skype-friends to add the contact "skype2ippi"
5. Making Phone-Calls from Asha to Skype:
You will have to add the skype-name of your preferred contacts into your contactlist
Example: Your Skype-buddy's name is gud.b0y
Create a new contact (or go to an exisiting one).
Add detail - Number - Internet telephone
and then add "gud.b0y@skype.ippi.com"
Whenever you want to call him, open your contact in the phone book, scroll down to 'Internet call' and click on "gud.b0y@skype.ippi.com".
Then your skype-buddy should be getting a phone call from his "skype2ippi" contact. If he is not online, you will get a busy tone.
6. Recieving calls from your contacts:
Make sure your phone is connected to wifi and logged in ippi
If your ippi-name is 'nice-guy' your friends will have to call the "skype2ippi" contact. skype2ippi then will ask you in the chat the name of your ippi-contact. Then just enter 'nice-guy' and your asha will be ringing.
I know its not that perfect as you dont get to know which of your contacts are online/offline, but hey its better than nothing :). You still can get the skype-java app which will allow you to see your contacts and their status.

I want 2 buy dis phn simply bcaz of it has Gprs/Edge Class 33 caz there is no wi fi in my town,even in state & only one 3 network which is vary expensive bt I like horizontal little bit big screen 4 gud browsing so,I hv another option,asha 300 bt I tired to search about its(asha 300) data class of gprs/edge. anyone know,plz reply soon.

The asha has gud looks and feels sturdy, but the metalic bezel already started creaking at the bottom. second downer is the very very poor battery life. One of the main reasons why I decided to give the S40 a try was, bcoz I expected a very gud battery life.
genral performance is gud. browsing with opera mini is decent experience as it runs quiet smooth. voice quality during calls is really really gud and the keyboard is also gud for typing (much better than the asha 201) but not as gud as the Nokia E6.
I manged to make calls with my Asha to the Skype network. Works very gud. If someone is interested I will post a short description how to set up ur fone for skype calls
I think i will give the fone a try. hopefully nokia soon releases the "Mail for Echxchange" update as the current version dont support this feature

this cell phone hangs alot i think coz of using net..it suddenly capture viruses like 6600nokia. its slow in messaging.. otherwise its camera is awsome.. and fast..

I don't know about you guys. But, I am using opera mini. And its performance is still good.
May be, forgotton. The phone is still more like old-fashioned feature-phone. Not a smart phone. I guess, multitasking and webuptodate dones not yet uptodate. If you want to one of those, you definitely shouldn't buy.
Like they say, for messaging and social use, its definitely worth to buy.

This phone is prone to hotness and low battery life, Nokia should try and improve on it. Although, it is an affordable phone with great features.
