AnonD-58491, 11 Jun 2012this 1ghz processor is a crap because its not a multi tasking phone it should be if it contain... morewhats appening here u guys should not compare a java phone (nokia asha 311) to a android (samsung galaxy y), of course a andriod should have multitasking, but a java may not, what u guys are to do is to compare a java(nokia asha 311) to a java(samsung chat 222), which we all know that, Chat 222 does not have multitasking too, and belive me asha 311 is the best feature phone ever cos its nearly smart, it has a 1ghz processor, wifi, 3g, and lots more, and ofcourse its UI is the best have ever seen on a feature phone. So nokia has done their best producing this phone so u've got to appreciate that, and belive me asha 311 is better than some smart phones including some of samsung android phones. So if u dont like feature phones bcos of no multitasking dont go for it, instead of distroying the beautiful image of the best feature phone(asha 311), on just an odinary opinion, then go for a smart phone at least u should try comparing a nokia 701 or lumia 900 or 808 pure view and a samsung galaxy nexus, or S II. As for me asha 311 is great and belive me Nokia is the best.

it seems like an excellent phone to me, smart, or not. And I must comment here that GS3 that i saw a couple of days back, is no beauty either. All plasticky.
That's why i reverted to nokia for quality, and it does most of my jobs. as regards half a million apps, i don't have the time to use most of them, so i don't care.

Rubal, 09 Jun 2012Asha 311 is not a smartphone. So guys dont get betrayed.Its simply a touch phone with 1GHz pro... moredude look how affordable this phone is, dont just criticize the phone.. try it 1st, and besides samsung phones easily run out of battery..

& it ... morethis is not a smartphone. this is a revamped s40 for touch screen.
can't you see that the phone has no home button required for task switching? except n9, all modern smartphones has this home button that you press and hold to switch between tasks.

All those people...who are saying that there are better androids in this price........
I want to tell u tht it is better to have a smoothly working s40 than to have a painfully sluggish android at this price.......
I would like to tell u some points...
1)androids at this price cant even play angry bird season properly...forget latest versions of games.....
2)u wont get a newer version of android...u will most probably get a 2.3 version which is quiet old now.....
3)what is the use of buying a android just for multi tasking when u cant run more than 2 apps together with androids at this price....
4)and for multitaskers...it has got a notification bar...u can semi-multitask in it.....
5)also there are great apps available in the store....
6)those complaining about tabbed browsing can download opera mini.....
If u have more problems u can ask me......
And why dont u take a look at features which are not available even in android....like...40 free game...free whatsapp...15 angrybirds levels....etc

Debb, 11 Jun 2012A phone in the INR6000 bracket (the 311) is expected to have multi-tasking; which it does not ... moreagree, multitasking is the main reason many people will choose an android device (and apps also) I think symbian belle should work fine with these specs but we know Nokia is killing it. Hopefully Meltemi won't dissappoint ;)

Nokia should change the name of S40 because some people are saying "OH it's the same old s40" while if you compare it how it was just two years ago you will see the improvement, while if you compare iOS from 2007 to 2012 you won't see any difference.

my Nokia 5230 is far better than crap asha311. At least i m having 16M colors and video@30fps.
1GHz processor is just like putting 1GHz on their 3310/3315 (Do u remember those models lolzz?)

Nokia seems to have lost touch with the ground reality, or they are doing it purposely. They cannot, just cannot, force-feed s40 at this age of ICS and WP8. This is ‘the Flintstones’ stuff.

A phone in the INR6000 bracket (the 311) is expected to have multi-tasking; which it does not have. Even the browser does not have tabbed browsing. The screen is also a tad small (3.2” would have been better). However, the screen resolution is just about OK, like the competitions are having. Probably it will not have text reflow as well.
Is Nokia trying to fool the emerging markets consumers with previous century gadget? Are they fooling themselves and moving backwards? This way, they will not be able to retain their most loyal customers; the consumers have lot many options before them than in the past.
The only saving grace would be the battery backup; and the possibility of the OS being updated by meltemi later this year (I am hopeful on this because of the three phones released, only 311 has capacitative screen).
