sijogsm, 08 Jul 2013Why nokia avoiding LED flash for camera. They done the same with Lumia 520. Will it cost more ... moreI totally agree. There r customer who r waiting 4 Nokia cell which got basic features like screen size (3.5), screen clarity, 3g, dual sim, both cam (back with LED flash), 1 or 2 gb internal memory/32 gb external latest OS (nowadays these r basic feature) & they dont mind spending extra
viper009, 07 Jul 2013hey n501 users do u know whether or not this ph support AVI videos?yes it does. However phone restarts again n again while playing large video files(more than 150 mb), may b bcoz of less ram.
Hello friends,
I'm expecting my Nokia Asha 501 to be deliverd today by Flipkart....truly excited..
Why nokia avoiding LED flash for camera. They done the same with Lumia 520. Will it cost more than 500 INR ?. Also 501 has 128 MB memory but 208, 207 have 256. Why they try to make it as much cheaper as they can, as people will not mind getting these goodies by spending few more money ?.
I love this phone! It's fun, fast and cute... Just going hands on makes me wanna own this phone, and I would if I didn't have my eyes (and funds) set on the next Nokia WP device :) I just wish it has a higher res screen and 3G connectivity.
Nokia made the right decision by going with Windows Phone. WP8 has the best user experience on any OS. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2416521,00.asp
Lumia 520 is selling like hotcakes everywhere. No other phone can beat it in that price range. It's a cheap phone that doesn't lag, hang, or reboot daily. All due to WP8 being optimized for Snapdragon chip.
LG OPTIMUS L3 II DUAL is far better than this phone in every aspect. just add up ₹2000 more n get a smartphone rather than this dumbphone. There are diehard nokia fans out there who are not able to digest the fact that it is just a featurephone with refreshed look. It can only perform basic tasks like calling, messaging etc..
However i still believe its a good choice for secondary phone as it has a very good battery backup.
and nokia fans, plz dont compare it to android... asha plateform is no where near android. accept it.
i used it for 4 days a my primary phone. it couldn't fulfil my needs as it does not have good chat apps available, browser does not support java script n copy paste, poor quality games, it cant play video file size of which is more than 160 mb and list goes on n on... not satisfied with the performance i sold it.
its only good for calling n messaging.. Don't expect anything more than that.
Gud phone but u want much apps and games better u go for samsung galaxy star overall its a nice entry level smart phone look is awesomeeeeeeeee
Anonymous, 07 Jul 2013Ok Nokia Where is 3G? in Asha 501did Nokia say it has 3G? stop asking for 3G cos never said it has a 3G.
it does not support nokia pc suit so we can not store, crete messages, contacts from pc.
tripranav, 07 Jul 2013hey tripnarav bro,
you are using the nokia asha 501, am i right..so plz clear my confusion.wh... moreIf you want android, then go for galaxy star.
If you want good battery life, good touch, less lag, good music player, and funky colors then go for nokia asha 501.
You can change the lock screen wallpaper to any downloaded image but not the home screen one. Also I dont know if screensavers are supported.
And nokia here maps is supported on this phone. I tried it and its good. And nokia has said whatsapp will come to this phone but when that is a million dollar question.
So to sum it up; galaxy star has android but you wont get a good battery back up and if you install a lot of apps on it it might lag and drain your battery even more.
Whereas, if you go with asha 501 you will get an amazing battery life, good sound quality, good touch etc. Although right now there are less apps for it but as we know this is the first phone on the nokia asha platform os, so down the line we will get good support of apps for this phone as well.
I would suggest you to go visit your nearest mobile shop and test out both the phones.
The phone is good for an entry level smartphone. Don't expect too much or don't compared it to other expensive phones. It is more unique compared to samsung galaxy y or lg l series.Nokia rocks!!!
Battery after the first charge gave a back up of 2.5 days ( i-net was used most of the time than calls and music )
All the people who posting bad comments about asha 501 first know that the phone is worth RS 5000 . My room mates In NIT Warangal are very impressed with this phone all of them have samsung duos , sony xperia with them . Five of my fellow classmate also during these two days .
Pros :
1)Smooth and responsive screen .
2)Asha OS .
3)WI-FI . ( I am Using WI-FI in opera and uc browser working great .
4)Well Built .
5)Good number of applications available .
Cons :
1)Unable to download ovi store apps using wifi .
2)Some times the phone becomes slow when read word documents with music on in the background .
Overall excellent phone in this budget . Most of sits and online stores gave thumbs up for this phone and AVg Rating of 4.2/5 .
Nokia Rocks .
