I love the new music playback battery life stat, thanks GSMArena. I'm about to replace my old mp3 player and I'm actually considering this asha. This is cheap, has long playback, expandable memory and more features than a standard mp4. I'm quite excited for this to come out. I'll wait for a thorough review though. If anyone at GSMArena reads this - please save a paragraph for music playback features or the ease of use as a standalone player.
pianoman, 16 May 2013Another nokia phone without GPS. Nokia, wake up!!! It has the location based GPS technology.. its like it can plot the position of the communication tower from which you are connected which is approx 3kms maximum.. but it is still great that you can find out routes and live transportaion availablity from your nearby location..
Nokia will have to manufacture a suitable phone that can con-pit with the present phones in market and not all this Java Phones... Ahhhg!
Nokia need to luanch bigger screen series 4.5", 5" to remain in competition.
In this price range you can't expect a gps. This phone is targeted for markets like india where most of the people use 2g data because of its low price. So adding 3g is not that much important. As far as comparison with low end android phone is considered, those phones sucks. They have millions of apps but only few proportion of them work smoothly, rest of them are laggy on those low specification devices. I am not saying that 501 have better specifications, but it have lighter os. When heavy usage is considered. Neither this device nor low end androids would be suitable. But for a basic user who wants to listen music, play some games, some emails, tweeting and texts. This device is perfect.
Moreover the new ui seems much more refreshing than android :P
Basically, in short, I love the new Asha 501 and the new Asha 210 (with keyboard, wifi, dualsim and whatsapp) I am surely will get me 1 of each for sure. A real Nokia ASHA fan!! :-D Cheers folks (PS: u guys from GSMARENA, keep up the good work, I really love your website!!)
W'll for me the Asha 501 is just great. I am not such a 24/7 mobile Facebook-er and Whatsapp-er, so 2G is good for me, and if i need to hang around the social's a bit longer then the build-in Wifi is a good add-on. The Asha touchscreen phones are good phones for a low price, with the new Asha 501 OS the gameplay get's even better :-D. So folks, you want to have a good and solid phone for not much money? Then get yourself an Asha 501. Really, because for such a low price, you do get a lot!!!
it is good but it can not bit samsung galaxy gt-sg 5300 also ur phone has no 3g and gps
everyone knows that nokia asha phones are smart features phones though they are forcefully making it as smart phone. Thats the point where nokia s still lagging behind with series 40 or wid asha platform. If we are getting an ANDROID smart phone den y should we go 4 feature phone like Nokia. at last samsung s samsung (no one can beat it)
thats a good phone for who stil believe on nokia... i think its all of nothing!!! i will take it as my 2nd phone. my third phone is nokia 1208!!!
