Thanks! I referred to Anonymous too cos I got a couple of replies from Anonymous too!
But thanks for your reply. You gave me an answer that I was suspecting..that apps will be backed up and probably can be reinstalled just the way they were. And that mobile data option replaces the widget online/offline option. i already have Picsel Smart Office and yes, it has wonderful functionality.
Thanks to you, I think I might be updating sooner rather than later. Keep the opinions coming. Cheers!

Personally i don't see a reason why people are still hanging onto the ghost of Anna.
She understands and wants you to move on to Belle...

AnonD-22351, 19 Feb 2012Thanx GadgetLover:-) I think overall Belle is good from the user views. tell me One thing why ... moreWell, for one reason like I mentioned earlier, I don't want to lose many of my apps which are on C:, i like those apps and may not be able to find replacements for them, secondly I dont like the new menu structure cos I am used to the folder within folder hierarchy in Anna, and some functionality has been lost, viz widget offline/online option, the "show open applications" option in menus(you have to press the menu key for that, on mine that brings up TaskMan, an app I installed), small changes such as no onscreen volume control and I think zoom level change in video player, and new widgets being too big with reduced practical functionality as compared to Anna.
They sound small, but my Anna is running silky smooth, and I have the Belle Shell to play around with and I don't find it much improved except for looking better than Anna. The one functionality I do appreciate wholeheartedly is the pull down notification bar, it was sorely missing on Symbian, Android and even iOS now has it. Nokia are probably unique in adding the "Mobile data on-off" option to the menu too.
All in all, I think belle is a very positive improvement and has been welcomed by the majority of Symbian Anna/S^3 users. Maybe in future when more functionality via updates is available, or a FOTA (over the air update) is available which doesnt wipe out my current app installations, I may adopt it as well. Cheers! :)

Its a good thing others have cleared this up.
NFC and FM transmitter are still there and have very nice widgets. NFC is built into the system so you don't have to go to that ''NFC gallery'' to send things.
Theoretical ( because i haven't seen another NFC enabled phone to try it out ), when you're in the main gallery or any other normal sections and both phones' NFC is on, you just tap to share ( like magic ).
How do you have 50 apps when the free capacity of the C: drive is about 300MB?
Anyways, after update go to '' settings > installations > To be installed '' and you would find your apps ready to be installed ( Or you WON'T even lose you apps in first place because some of my apps were automatically reinstalled )
Some widgets are very large ( mail and music player ) but they are VERY practical since you have 6 home screens and you can choose a shortcut instead of a widget.
As for clean functionality it depends on how you arrange your home screens.
No more widgets to offline or online options BUT drag down the notifications area and you can put your '' MOBILE DATA '' off if you don't want anything zappin your data.
There is a HIGH likelihood you WON'T have to reinstall your apps especially those on the C: drive because it you have to back it up during update. The update doesn't affect your F: or E: drive
Press power button to activate Power saver or download Battery monitor from Nokia store which is VERY accurate for me.
One more thing...
Forget the Quick Office ( where you can't create or edit documents ),
Just go download Piscel Smart Office,
Its wonderful.

Frankly I never liked those apps but couldnt delete them from my phone..needs a hacked phone to do that I guess! :)

You can create your own folders to arrange them.

The folder options have changed in Belle. Unlike Anna which had for example the applications folder and another office folder in that, now all your apps will be flat in the Menu (like in N9,iOS and Android). You can create new folders and move your apps to them but you cannot create a folder inside another folder anymore.
Secondly, the path for saving videos/images on the memory card/mass memory have changed, they are no longer in Images/Videos, but in a new DCIM folder. This means that videos you have on your memory card will not show up in gallery now, but will show up in the Videos app, and videos recorded by you will not appear in the Videos app (like it used to in Anna), but will show up in the gallery with ur pics. Thats the only difference with images and videos.

Secondly for playing videos we have to go to filemanager or VIDEO PLAYER is there for that. Pls confirm. Thanx in advance

Thanks for you opinions,John and Anonymous, sounds good! My hangups about Belle are that I will lose all my apps on C: (about 50 in my case, installed there by default) and from what I hear the widgets are larger but less practical and have lost the clean functionality of Anna..also minor niggles like the way the menu has to be arranged and no option for widgets online/offline..
But from all accounts I've heard,the new OS is more stable and smooth. I just don't like the idea of restoring all my apps back. Will a restore option work?

Upgrading to Belle is like buying a new and vastly improved phone.
If you liked anna you're gonna love belle.
