u'r right, u tend to enjoy d phone more if u'r on a data plan bundle.
for all my 9ja peeps dying to put to maximum use c7, i av a method i'll advice u all to employ; subscribe your sim for blackberry bundle and use it on ur c7(so as to avoid spending fortune on browsing),then u'll av unlimited access to internet service(hence unlimited download).that's wat i did and i'm loving it.

People like u ar supposed to be C7 promoters not the types of dude u said u met in the shop who does'nt know what is happening in the Nokia industry. All the sellers i contacted myself on phone (even the nokia authorised ones) bellied the existence of the nokia c6-01. So it s only what shipped into the country they know, i wonder the type of marketers they ar..., Eben thanks !... And Deen thanks a lot !! I have this phone for a month now i got the brown one, the phone is quite good actually all you need on a phone is here. I don't see any purple tint with in my unit. I was about to buy the N8 back then but i was so disappointed seeing those horrible purple tint. here are my pros and cons!
CONS
-heats up easily and drains batter fast when using it 3g browsing.
-camera sucks even though it has 8mp (my SE c510 is way better so if you cant stand it go get an n8)
-browser sucks too! I hope symbian anna will fix this up. so you better get opera mini
PROS
-Very nice screen,watching movies is always a delight love amoled!
-Nice and fast UI even when loaded,just avoid using heavy themes especially when you're a heavy multi tasker.
-battery backup when not using 3g is amazing, web browsing using wifi the whole day and with heavy texting and calling for an hour would left me 35-50% battery reserve and when you have that for standby mode you can still have a more than a day. oh by that way battery reserve will also depend on your network provider.
-nice quality on apps on ovi, I just hope they'll put educationa/medical ebooks and dictionaries just to make it more "smart".
-sound quality very nice, pair it with mid range - high range headphones ur good to go! For those guys who complains loudspeaker sucks i think you should get a boombox!
-call features are top notch! noise cancelling is really good thou I'm now having a problem everytime I call my girlfriend, cuz I have to convince my her that im in house or in my car, beacause she cant hear any noise on my sorroundings and thinking that I'm maybe wandering or just goofing around! LOL!
-design is nice, very classy especially the brown one! Install the sleeping screen on it. people would literally stop and gaze at your phone whenever i stay at a coffee shop or even at school and sometimes ask me "is that an iphone? wow"
-the ovi maps and navi is great!
oh by the way if you got some extra money go buy a good case especially of your the clumsy type, the phone is thin and slippery i guess it the tradeoff for its looks. i suggest bet an otterbox commuter case. thats all! waiting for anna update thou...

tom, 15 Jun 2011pls can some one tell me how the FM transmitter work? fm transmitter works like this; you can play ur music and have it transmitted through a specific frequency,as in you play ur media,turn on your transmitter it's gonna show u a frequency,i.e 90.00(which u can also change to ur preferred freq.) u tune in ur fm reciever,i.e car radio or any fm radio to the same frequency u set d transmitter to and then u'll have ur media routed or broadcasted to ur radio,that is u can now listen to your music on d radio.

[deleted post]@eben, C7 is a great phone no doubt. It is good you raised the internet issue bcos without internet C7 is not better than 3310. Phone internet plan in 9ja is still capped around 100mb MTN to 200mb GLO for 1k per month. For etisalat, you'll get free 60mb for every N200 recharge. The issue is the internet speed from these networks is slow. C7 may hang and restart by itself and battery power not so fantastic. I experienced it. On the overall C7 is a very good smartphone for 9ja terrain. Have you tried ovi voice guided map? You'll love it.

As DEEN has rightly said i doubt if at all u would be able to get nokia c6-01 here in 9ja.it just appeared to me after now that it's like everyone of us would av preferred that C6-01 but unfortunately it's like is not available for Nigerian market the same thing wit the Astound(maybe later they'll ship it).Infact similar case happened to me also where i was looking for the C6-01,one of d shops i went to i met wit one Nokia guy (acting in dt shop as their representative and particularly to promote the C7) i then asked him where i could get that c6-01 but can u bliv dis guy had neva heard of dt model before instead he was tryin to correct me that it's C6 and not C6-01,that there's nothing like c6-01 and he argued wit me,i felt bad for him cos he acted like dummy.so i really would't know if u'v seen any store where they have it,but don't forget C7 is better than the C6-01 considering so many factors.
Back to the issue of purple tint,d purple tint is not something that u wuld really notice,i mean since u won't spend all d whole time on previewing picture.infact,it's not in every picture u wud notice it.Lanrex,take my word for it,go for d phone i promise u wonlt regret it.as for d picture quality,chineke me!! It's superb despite d fact dt it uses EDoF d picture is crystal clear(i actually wouldn't av expected anything lesser than that for a 8megapixel fone).u can preview ur pictue without really noticing any purple tint.Actually from d first time i got to know about d fone,i made up my mind i was gonna get it,i started reading about d purple tint so i went online to do some research on it,it got to a stage i bcame discouraged but after i compared d effizi and d bug(which are actually incomparable bcos d effizi is toooooo much my bro.) i decided to go for it purple tint or no purple tint.so my guy and every other person interested in getin dis machine,don't hesitate.it's a great value for ur money.Lanrex can u imagine browsing ur flash drive wit ur fone?isn't dt lovely?you'v gat a whole loads of application to download free from ovi store to drive u crazy.imagine reading d latest headline from vanguard newspaper on ur homescreen.i just wish network operator here in 9ja can develop a browsing plan like blackberry which u wud be paying monthly,i mean unlimited data not like those ones u'll be paying 1k for 100mb monthly.with unlimited data plan u'll enjoy it more.
WARNING; It could get u so obsessed dt u may wake up midnyt surfing d web or doing som other things,it may even make u wake up early in d morning start playing around wit it widaut saying ur morning prayer.the worst part of itis dt if u'r addicted to games and cool applications like me,it may make ur babe draft u a letter.u know wat i mean.but just make sure u follow ur mind and use ur discretion.

I read all the treads about the phone. Mine doesnot have the tint. The only problem is with the internet connection using MTN gprs...very slow. But with wifi, superb internet experience. You surely enjoy OVI map. Most 9ja streets are well mapped. What we are waiting for is symbian anna...the latest firmware from nokia. Then about C6-01, please try SLOT or the one above

I recommend c7 if u are looking for a cheap.and best smartphone... it's got a good camera the only worst thing is that it lacks auto focus ... in other ways Nokia c7 is a.awesome mobile

Thought I should put in my two cents before eben answers your questions himself.
Before I got my C7, i helped someone ask around for C6-01. Strangely, the shops didn't know what i was talking about. Didn't know the difference between C6 and C6-01. Even the major stores didn't have it.
On the purple tint issue, I did about a months worth of research on the internet before deciding on C7. I read people's complaints about the tint, saw (very scary) pictures of it, but at the same time, read comments from people who either didn't have the tint at all or have a very small amount of it. So I decided to go for it, praying I'd get one with a good screen.
In the month it took me to put the money together, i worried about the tint so much i almost gave myself a heart-attack. After buying, I turned it on, checked the standby screen (most effected by the tint on most phones) and there was no tint.
However, a few days later, i noticed that the top of the standby screen to the middle of the analogue clock had a darker purplish hue than the rest of the screen. And I'm sure it wasn't there when i first bought it. This is the extent of the purple tint on my C7 (only on the standby screen)and it's totally harmless, thank God. I don't even notice it anymore.
