WINURA, I knew how to find the SIM numbers from day one, didn't take any time to figure that out.
My SIM is filled to the brim. I have no space left on it.
I have contacts on it from August 2001.
I want them to stay right where they are. Don't want to copy any into phone memory.
Mobile-Review.com said that Nokia have handled all the basics for this phone.
Quote: "Wrapping it all up, we are quite confident that the Nokia E51 is a unique product, whose calling features are as strong as we have never seen before. Nokia has just come up with a decent device for performing all basic operations – this is where the E51 does its best.
That's why I expected the detailed calling list for each contact which shows date, time of call and duration of call up to 5 times for each contact.
I will just have to accept the platform differences and move on, sadly.
Winura, 07 Sep 2008Hello mate! well in your previous post about the small things that's missing from S60 when com... moreWINURA my friend, my questions, the rare times I ask them, always seems the toughest to answer. I guess because I don't ask simple stuff like others.
Ok, the s40 advantage I am talking about is being able to see a detailed list of ALL the dialled and received calls. Forget the missed calls.
What I'm talking about is pressing the green 'call' button, then highlighting any of the contacts or numbers and seeing up to the last 5 calls made to that contact which also shows the date, time and the duration of the call.
Eg. I called you yesterday and today, when I press the green button and highlight your name, I then press options and then select 'Time of Call' and it would then show me today's date (seeing that I called you today) on top followed by time in the center and then duration in the third line. That would be for today's call.
Below that, there would be a space then I would see yesterday's date (seeing that was the previous call) on top followed by time in the center and then duration in the third line...and this would be repeated up to 5 times of calling you. Once it reaches the 6th call, the oldest date is overwritten.
The same applies to received calls.
This is something I wish s60 had (sad).
jetty, 31 Aug 2008hi, i own an e51. i've had it for a week now, its quite good, but everytime i capture an image... moreAs a workaround, just change the profile to "Silent" and take the snaps...there wont be any sound of clicking the shots :-))

Like the deskt... moreHello mate! well in your previous post about the small things that's missing from S60 when compared to S40,
Lets start from the missed calls scenario. If i happen to have 1 or more than 1 missed call on my E51, on the active standby it shows that you have a certain number of missed calls right? and when you select the missed calls bar from the active standby menu you will get the list of numbers and in front of them, within a bracket the number of times you have missed calls from each number. is this what you're talking about or is it some other issue?
For the clock there's no second counter but you can set your time with the same accuracy if you have a clock to set your time with a second counter. (if you know what i mean).
As for the sim contacts problem you can either copy the numbers from your sim to the phone or simply go to contacts > options > Sim contacts > sim directory. my personal opinion is that its very clever. because with a phone like this which has practically unlimited contact storage capacity having some of you numbers saved in the sim card is not necessary. don't you think so?
and finally about the browser, i never had a problem viewing flash content through my browser. not with the 100 nor the 200. and the youtube application works like a charm in my phone. (smile)
WINURA my friend are you able to view pages flash contents with your '200' ?
Like the desktop version of Youtube for example ?
The funny thing is that when I had firmware '100' I was able to view sites with flash content easily and now that I have '200' I can't.
Yet some people say that when they had '100' they COULDN'T view flash content and after they upgraded to '200' they are able to.
What a mysterious firmware.
Firmwares are only suppose to enhance and upgrade certain areas of a product, not downgrade some of the essential areas.
I hope Nokia sorts out this mixup with their next release.
Nokia E 51 without camera so that we can use in the companies where cameras are restricted
Another thing I left out is that s40 shows all contacts in one list. The contacts on SIM are indicated by a SIM card diagram which makes a seamless integration of contacts. All in one place and you know where each contact is stored.
WINURA or anybody else, with all the gripes I have mentioned, if there's something I'm missing please to inform me but I simply don't see any other way around the inconveniences I have discovered.
Still love the E51 non-stop (smile).
I have been giving the E51 a full test drive.
I'm coming from a Nokia 6300 which is a series 40 phone, Nokia's own proprietary OS.
Everybody knows that Symbian is more power than s40 but there are little basic stuff that I rather in s40...6300 in particular.
Hands down, the E51 is a much more powerful and more capable phone than 6300 due to the technologies built in and Symbian but to me the basics matters by add less frustration in everyday use.
First of all, one of the niceties of the 6300 is being able to see up to the last 5 dialled and received calls..even missed calls too, which will let you know that someone tried to get you up to 5 times.
Another thing is seeing the seconds along with the clock which may not be a big deal for some but it provides better accuracy when setting the time.
With s40, when you edit a number it places it on the standby screen for you to easily add a * or other standard symbols like # for network purposes, like sending someone calling credit etc......With s60 when you select edit you have to painfully accept the little box with and bring up the symbol screen and select * or # which means scrolling back and forth across the symbol menu whereas it's an instant thing with s40 seeing that there are dedicated buttons for these symbols when using a number on standby screen.
Just a few gripes but it was time for me to move on to a new phone and a new OS.
Despite the differences, did I regret the switch ? NO! as the advantages outweighs the disadvantages.
Do you need voip/wlan to be able to call through the internet?
Can't you do voip with any phone that has wifi (for instance new N79)?

(majority is not happy with the camera) but i'm a happy user. but my advice to you is to go for the Nokia E71. that will be the ultimate upgrade for your E61. but the screen is only 2.4 inches. but all n all that is the best upgrade for you. you might want to check that out before you consider buying the Nokia E51.
Great phone. I'm using it right now to post this very comment. Works like a charm.
i am using e51 for four months now, is brilliant. Battery life is excellent, fast when opening application, user friendly. keep it up nokia.
