siyad-mobimad, 06 Jul 2008u told u r using nokia n72 it has edge and gprs class 10 edge class 10 has max speed of 230... moreHi, Excellent analysis! Congrats. I also learnt from your post. Will you please tell if it will be wise to go for E71 right now as an upgrade from E51? Are the additional features like slightly bigger screen, qwerty, 3.2 mp cam with AF & FLASH, etc. Worth paying those extra money? And moreover, is E71 not over-priced right now? What should be it's right price, according to you, in Indian Currency? Please reply, as I am a bit confused! Thanks a lot in advance!
I'm expecting my E51 this coming Thursday, July 6, 2008.
Well, I guess if the 7th and 8th digits shows 01 then it was Euro made which is the only thing I'm concerned about.
I only want European made Nokias.
Dear E51 users..
I've been using this phone for 3 months now.. working good. except, that it has a shortcoming in the key pads.. Water can enter through the pores in the key pad, this can spoil the fun. Otherwise a neat phone for this price package..
Anonymous, 06 Jul 2008Hi Winura and other E51 lovers,
I use my nokia N72 as modem for surfing net via GPRS/EDGE by ... moreu told u r using nokia n72
it has edge and gprs class 10
edge class 10 has max speed of 230kbps
gprs class 10 has max speed of 42kbps
if u switch on nokia e51 then u get slight speed incrase.............
becz e51 has gprs and edge class 32
edge class 10 has max speed of 296kbps
gprs class 10 has max speed of 107kbps
as far as me is concern speting 11 thousand indian rupee for slight increase in internet speed
i prefer u to take a evdo or broadband connection
The e51 is not suitable to use as a modem because its battery will drain fast n u have to continously recharge.
the perfect mobile to be used as modem where u experience less recharge is the new e71.
Hi Winura and other E51 lovers,
I use my nokia N72 as modem for surfing net via GPRS/EDGE by connecting it through USB to my laptop. For me it works ok, only the speed is poor. The tech specs of E51 shows that it has better GPRS and EDGE(both of class 32). So, if I use E51 as modem to connect to internet through GPRS/EDGE, do I get better speed? If yes, please tell how much faster the speed will be? Please tell a bit in detail, as this is one of my main factor for upgrading!
Tons of thanks to all of you in advance!
Original_Jamaican, 06 Jul 2008Winura, my 6300's 7th and 8th digits are 0 and 1 respectively and it was mde in Hungary.thanks. (*big smile*)
I'm really confused with the serial number thing. if you check out the above links you will see that the info differs from site to site. anyway mine is made in Finland and my 7th and 8th digits are 0 and 1. and so far mine has not given me any trouble at all. as long as it's made in finland its fine i guess. have you bought your E51?
Winura, my 6300's 7th and 8th digits are 0 and 1 respectively and it was mde in Hungary.
To what you said sometime ago regarding using the 7th and 8th digit of the IMEI to find out where Nokia phones are manufactured, well there's some flaw in that theory because my 7th and 8th digits are 0 and 1 respectively.
I have seen this info on a few sites but I'm yet to see accurate results when using the IMEI method.
What does you 7th and 8th digits say ?
Winura, 05 Jul 2008yes it was in level 7. the reason i use level 7 is i have read articles and have got advice fr... moreThanks for the info regarding not to max the ringing volume.
A general rule is never to max the volume on radioes, tv and other sound output appliances because of possible strain on the speakers especially if the audio being played have a lot of bass, sound effects etc. which the appliance cannot properly handle. However, I never actually applied that rule to cell phones.
I have never had a problem with any of my cell phones speakers due to bucking / maxing the volume. I'm glad you mentioned this known problem is s60 devices. This goes to show that nobody knows everything and that's why we have forums like these to share and educate each other.
We all play our part in educating each other here.
Thanks Winura, you are a blessing. You are a jewel in this forum.
George, 05 Jul 2008hi guys!!, HEY WINURA:I wandering if u can help me out whit this; i installed a few themes fr... morewell thats strange...mine shows all themes i have installed. as far as i'm concerned it should show there. i haven't seen them anywhere else in the phone.
chetan, 05 Jul 2008hi all, i have got a new e51, i am really happy with the cool features. bad thing is i hav... morewhat exactly do you mean by "had made it nearly dead even though i have kept lot of free space"??? is the memory card not responding or is it corrupted? or are you worried about its capacity? you can always buy a 4GB or a 8GB.
anne, 05 Jul 2008hi guys.. hope u would help me.. its my first time to have a wi-fi fone.. why it is always ask... moreyou need to enter the code in order to start browsing. there must be someone in those areas whom you can acquire the code.
Vali, 05 Jul 2008i just byed one E51, and i think i have problem with vibra, he dont vibrate or from time to ti... morei think you're the 1st person to come up with a complaint like that. i think you should take it back and ask for a replacement. i have done 2 firmware upgrades since i bought this phone so i'm sure its nothing to do with the phone firmware.
Original_Jamaican, 05 Jul 2008To WINURA:
I had a feeling the volume maxed out at 10 instead of 5 like s40 phones.
I h... moreyes it was in level 7. the reason i use level 7 is i have read articles and have got advice from people not to set the ringing volume to the highest level. the reason they have given is some software which are being installed in phones outputs sound which the small speaker cannot handle. this causes most loudspeaker problems. i have personally experienced this in my previously owned Nokia 3230, plus in a sony ericsson W810, and a W550i which were used by 2 friends of mine. i wish i could remember where i saw it so then i could've given you the link. but unfortunately i can't remember.
i have set the ringing volume to level 7 and activated 3D. in it i have set the Reverberation option to "Railway Station". that's when i'm not at home. when i'm at home the ringing volume is set to level 4 and selected the reverberation option to "living room". and i don't need to activate the vibrator to alert me to tell that my phone is ringing unless i'm in a meeting or at lectures in college.
i have NEVER missed a call unless i ignore the person who's calling. lol
