I had this phone since it came out of the Market last 2007. I have this for almost 2 years and I really fell inlove with the phone. I cant complain! But recently I noticed that the rubber side-buttons looks like it was deformed somewhat appears to be melted for some reason. I love this phone that I tend to wipe it clean during my free time and it will be as shiny as new. But the rubber that was deformed makes it ugly and when I asked Nokia Service Center, they told me they can replace it but the whole casing should be replaced as well and that is just ridiculous! I will not buy a new car if my side mirrors has been damaged right?! Thats absurd. So, I decided to buy this rubber film and glued it to those small holes and cover it with that rubber film. It looks like infrared ports though hehe.
I was planning to buy the new E52 as an upgrade. But as I read the feedback....It made me think not to unless Nokia figure out what the problem was and perhaps once a new software has been installed.
I've been using e51 for 6 months, and it's been a very positive experience. I came from a BlackBerry, so I've been really missing my full keyboard and larger screen (e51 screen resolution matches most BBs). The full-HTML browser is sluggish over EDGE, never tried it over 3G. Built-in predictive text languages are very limited and you cannot download them. E51 has excellent compatibility with my Mac. $200 for a new unlocked quality phone like this one is a bargain. I now honestly recommend this handset to my friends.
I have this phone for some few weeks. And I never switched it off. Why to switch it off when you can always select "offline" profile. And with a variety of applications available, you can easily turn it into your "computer".I'm in love with E51.
E51 is handy smart scratch proof a bit heavy etc etc. However I noticed that weakest point of the phone is the on/off switch. My swich broke. The rubber over it degenerated. Got it repaired and after 6 months it is broken again. isnt it weird? Rush to the care centre and argue withe again and pay for some fault which is Nokias?
.,yeah.,I really love it!!., super., it's like super amazing!.,if i didn't looked at it in the computer maybe i havent known that it carries 8 GB.,!.,cool one?!.,*winks*
To ones who want to upgrade to e52, please reckon before you do it. A friend of mine bought e52 has problem with reception that always interupting while getting either incoming and outcoming calls. E51 still better choice due to better build quality and its stability though smaller screen
Farooq Butt, 16 Dec 2009It is outstanding. The best mobile set for sip/voip calls.I quite agree (smile).
Mohsin Ali, 16 Dec 2009In Nokia E51, how can I block a Call/SMS/MMS from a certain mobile number? Cany anyone help me?To MOHSIN ALI:
Get Handy Blacklist. It's a very good program and doesn't slow down the phone.
You can find it at Mobiles24.com or Dotsis.com.
I had version 1.0 and it worked flawlessly.
With this program, once you block a number, you won't see that number as a missed call on the main standby screen. You will have to open the program and check the program's call log to see who called or texted you.
Get it and let me know the outcome.
