How is the battery life for a moderate user?
Can it last for like 7days if you only receive few calls and don't play much music and use other services like WAP?
To ALL E51 owners:
Any of you ever had a problem where the earpiece speaker (speaker which you put at your ear to have telephone conversations) suddenly went low even when the volume is maxed out at level 10.
Normally when I'm on a call, volume level 2 or level 3 was enough for me to hear the other person on the line easily. The only time I would need to go higher is when I'm in a very noisy environment.
One day out of the blue the earpiece speaker suddenly started sounding lower than normal and when I maxed it to the highest volume level I still couldn't hear the caller that well.
As it is now, level 10 isn't as loud as level 3 was when the earpiece was working perfectly.
I'm wondering if it's a hardware bug or software bug.
Please everyone whether this happened to you or not, share your thoughts and opinions as to how this may get resolved WITHOUT taking in the phone to a Nokia Care Centre.

That sounds more like a network fault. Try another provider SIM and see if the same thing happens.

I updated the firmware each time a new version was released including the last one. Although i can`t observe some improvements effectively, my phone works fine, no problems at all, i`m very happy with it. I must admit i am a modest user and i use my phone especially for calling and texting, rarely for taking photos and surfing over Wi-Fi/3G, not to mention installing programs, i don`t use any application. In conclusion, even there are some exceptions, my opinion is that an update is recommended. Sorry if i disturbed you with something.

I welcome every update from Nokia. Since I started collecting phones which supported firmware updates, I have ALWAYS updated.
Just that in the case of this new E51's firmware 400.34.011, there are a few quirks.
I'm NOT saying people should avoid this new firmware but if you want restoration to remain as simple as ABC, then one should probably avoid it.
Some people may not experience the problem I have experienced but I'm simply pointing out the quirks I have experienced.
I will tell you one thing I appreciate with this new firmware...the ability to use the CALL KEY to dial a highlighted number in a text message.
Previously when you opened a text containing a phone number or operator code, pressing the CALL KEY would prompt asking you if you wanted to call the highlighted number or the sender of the message. Whichever answer you chose simply went unnoticed and no action took place. You would still see the message on the screen as if you didn't command the phone to do something. Before this new firmware, the ONLY way of calling a highlighted number was selecting OPTIONS - CALL and the type of call (VOICE CALL, VIDEO CALL, INTERNET CALL). The other option was to press the CENTER NAV key and selecting the type of call. Now with this new firmware you have the real way of dialling a number from a text message, with the CALL KEY.
AT the moment I'm ok as I have found a way to get my Fring to work and have no other issues so far...even though my SEGA GENESIS emulator still doesn't work. It begins the installation and then when it seems as if it's about to finish installing an error pops up saying 'UNABLE TO INSTALL'. This NEVER happened with firmware 300.34.56.
I can live without playing games BUT that will turn off anyone...wouldn't it turn you off REM ?
REM, do you own a E51 and did you upgrade to the new firmware 400.34.011 ?
moto zn5 is 140 eur whit best camera at world then this phone is 160 eur ???!!!

A firmware update is made for improvements so don`t make such advices anymore. Maybe there are cases when users experience minor issues but overall an update is welcomed.
Kostas, 08 Jul 2009What about the new firmware anyway? Is it worth to update, or just stay with the one included?... moreTo KOSTAS:
When you purchase this phone tomorrow more than likely it will have the 220.xx.xx or 300.xx.xx firmware. Those are more than good enough. Don't upgrade to 400.xx.xx. It has some quirks. Some programs like Fring behaves erratic with it...there are some workarounds to getting these programs to work properly but it's not worth the hassles so stick with whatever your E51 comes with.
