Yes. It is true you can easily use 8gig on E51. I recently started using a Sandisk 8 gig and it's been working fine.
Original Jamaican, I have been trying to upgrade my firmware since my version is 200.34.36 but when i diagnose to find out if upgrade is needed from nokia website, i get the info i have the latest firmware. Please help. On top of this the software updater on my pc now always indicate an error that"Sorry updater is currently not available. Try again later". Am using the latest software updater which i downloaded from the nokia website recently.
Also, if anyone have the set up for coreplayer, could he/she forward to me via bobby.mensah@yahoo.com? Or if you cld give me the link to download from.
Thanks
My phone is unable to send text messages, whenever I send message,it remains in outbox and gives message of "Message sending failed" and when details are viewed,it says "Memory Full, close some application".
I even changed the sim card and tried it with different sim card but it gives same error.
can anybody please solve my problem?

The E51 is also my first Symbian.
To tell the truth, there was a point in time I didn't have a memory card and had to store most of my stuff in the internal memory and to be honest I didn't notice a degrade in performance. It was still fast, as far as my eyes could see. However, I rather storing things on the memory card and why not, you have the capacity. Other than that I feel more comfortable storing everything possible on the memory card.
I rather to pressure the memory card than the phone memory.
As you know files on a whole tends to leave clutter behind and I would rather these clutter being left on the memory card than the internal memory.
The ONLY phone I see get slow to a crawl when too much stuff is in the internal memory is Blackberry. Seems as if Blackberry use the dynamic memory as RAM as well.

I've already heard about those problems with Kingston memory cards. I will probably go with Transcend, 2 or 4 GB, although I have the last firmware (as you wrote,it is 300.34.56, I don't think that I need that much gigs -I will not use my E51 instead of USB flash disk :))
I will probably buy this one
TRANSCEND
Micro SD 4GB with RDS3 Card Reader class 6
PS
One more question, E51 is my 1st symbian mobile phone (even the color screen and camera are new for me :),I had an old Samsung R210 before), should I keep as much as possible data on memory card, instead of E51's internal memory, as I've heard that the phone works much smoother that way.
Cheers
Ppl help my e51 battery dies in less than an hour. The battery will say charging without being connected . Will firmware help

One thing which I find strange is that my E51 is RM-244 and my manual states that the SAR level is 1.47.
Nokia's SAR page states the RM-144 as 1.40 and RM-426 as 1.47.
Strange. I would like to think there was a misprint in the manual as the SAR is already high enough at 1.40.

Milanche, 10 Jun 2009Hello, I've bought this phone, without microsd card, so now I'm looking for buying one. Which ... moreTo MILANCHE:
Transcend and A-Data are very good.
Try to avoid Kingston; even though they make very good jump drives for PCs, for some reason their memory cards don't seem to be that reliable.
One of the biggest concern among GSMArena opinionists is the maximum capacity Micro-SD card the E51 supports. Some people complain that it won't work with 8GB or if it does work it slows down the phone a lot.
Well Milanche I have a Transcend 8GB Class 6 and I have NO PROBLEMS whatsoever and the phone is as fast as lightening just the same. If you are wondering about the Class 6 part, it's merely the measurement of read/write speed. Normally the options are Class 4 and Class 6. Class 6 is a bit harder to get. Class 4 means at least 4MB per min. and Class 6 = 6MB per min.
Personally, I would go for the Transcend because my E51 starts up fast and seems to run faster overall with the Transcend 8GB Class 6 compared to my previous A-Data 4GB Class 6.
As far as I'm concerned the E51 will support 16GB even though I haven't tried it yet. Reason being recently I went to Nokia Europe E51's homepage and under accessories, Nokia showed a 16GB memory card...something they didn't list under the E51 accessories previously (I just checked again and now I see 16GB and 8GB side to side). So if the price is right, max out things and go for a 16GB. If that is far too much memory for you then go for a 4GB or 8GB.
If you are going to go for a 8GB or 16GB I would suggest you upgrade your E51's operating system to firmware revision 300.34.56 (to check your version press *#0000# in stand-by mode). You can upgrade your firmware using Nokia PC Suite. The reason I suggested upgrading to the lastest is because the first version of the firmware was said to be created before 8GB and 16GB were put on the market so upgrading to the latest will support these high capacity cards better. They may not work OR may not work properly if you have the initial release version of the firmware which was 100.34.20. The second firmware release was 200.34.36, third was 220.34.37 and the latest, released January 2009, is 300.34.56.
Click on the link below to see for yourself that Nokia officially supports these high capacity memory cards. Don't believe rumours.

Hope you find my advice useful.
Please let me know which and what Class Micro-SD card you plan to get.
Please can anyone tell me where to find the stuff after downloading and do I have to pay and download quick office before using it??
Id appreciate a response
