What are you? a 5 year old child?
Firstly,(if you read my post properly..) I said to keep it at default FOR NOW. until a fix has been resolved.
You're so certain it's a hardware issue? why? how many e52s do you have?
Do you know how to quality test a phone?
Are you an electronics engineer?
Are you qualified or know what you're talking about?
Do you know how long it takes to troubleshoot and debug an operating system code base?
Listen sunny jim, we do this on a daily basis. we understand this since clients want results as fast as possible.
Problem is, as more and more features are requested by different demographics(Oh not just you, you infantile 5 year old.), the code base gets more and more complex and not every scenario can be controlled with lab tests and quality control assessment.
Sometimes, it must be field tested.
What also shortens testing time is the constant requests of releasing it as soon as possible. So which one should be served, Quality or Demand?
Thing is, demand pays a high price in the overall scheme of economics.
As long as it is working for the most part, release it.
Problem still stands.
If your main logic board has been replaced, it means your embedded software has been changed too.
So your argument of saying it is for CERTAIN hardware related is inaccurate and misleading.
Nokia is not releasing anything yet, because it probably has:
1: not enough complaints at the moment. (maybe the number of complaints has not yet reached 20% or so, depending on how much percentage they base off for factory recall.)
2: They're still working on it and simply have no time entertaining drive by complaints.
Oh and junior, that's not how you handle an expensive device. The more expensive it gets, the more care you should give it.
It's not even that expensive, e71 is still more expensive than this unit. and yes, e71 also has its issues you can youtube it even.
Nothing's perfect. And I'm not bashing on e71 here. It's a very nice phone. That's why I'm thinking of checking out the e72 when it rolls out.
Like I said in past posts, if you only need a phone just buy a phone. no frills included.
Buy a Walkie Talkie if you want. It's your money guy.
"The more complex an engine gets, the greater the chance of things getting broken. More moving parts."
Anyway, for all interested in purchasing the e52 it's still a very very good business phone. Better when they fix the issues with it. ^_^
trf, 15 Oct 2009Yup. I think that's China, but don't worry cuz even fins are experiencing problems.
e52, e5... moreIf we have to use E52 with so many restrictions, then what is the point of buying it then with so much price??? I guess buying Nokia 1100 is much better if we are afraid to run so many applications or check emails or change factory settings.
I am not having the issues others are experiencing. Judging from the number of people who had their main board replaced with new IMEI, I am pretty confident that it is a hardware issue and we are just lucky to have one without problems (maybe we got from a different batch from the faulty ones). I don't think this is a firmware issue and definitely if it was, Nokia would have released something by now ( or at least had given hints of an upcoming version) given the huge popularity of this phone.

Its the truth .... Made by Nokia usually has worse quality than their hungarian or finland counterparts ...... i have seen the outer skin of many nokia phones which are made by nokia coming out within a year of usage .... it happened with every major models .... there is a reason why in the black market, hungarian/finland models command higher price .... u just cant ignore it !

I encountered that phone start up fail error on my E51. Immediately I turned off the phone then did the format procedure procedure using the *, 3, dial key and power button.
This was a few months ago and I haven't gotten back that error since.
Hi, I ordered E55 from Nokia shop Online and when I tried to start it, it said "Phone start-up failed. Please contact your retailer." So I called them and they said a replacement will take 14 days or more. Quite useless so I decided to get a refund and sent it back. Now I'm thinking about E75. The trouble is it can be the same problem.. will give it one more try and then I'm done with Nokia. Their Nokia Care is run by people who obviously don't understand phones so they didn't help me either.

I'm sorry for all of those who are experiencing problems.
TRF my friend, ar... moreMy second one seems to be performing quite well.
I'm thinking of making a video post when it has run for a couple more months so everyone can see how my e52 is performing at that time.
Tomal, 13 Oct 2009My E52 has been working perfectly fine. Why there is so many -ve reviews here? :S
Maybe you... moreso u think all made in china sucks huh? then you should stop using everything thats made in china. oh wait thats not really possible is it?
commenting on the phone is fine but dont try to start a conflict here ok?
I'm sorry for all of those who are experiencing problems.
TRF my friend, are you experiencing any problems at all with your E52 ? The impression I get from you is that yours have been flawless.
Sometime ago a reviewer said that phones have gotten so advanced with technology that writing firmwares for them have gotten very complicated and, more often than not, bugs are now present in most firmwares.
I do agree with this reviewer because if you take a look at Nokia's simpliest phones, the likes of the 1100, 1200, 1208 to name a few, you will notice that bugs aren't present in these. You can even up the ante a bit and throw in the famous 3310 in the mix which made Nokia what it is today, and there still wasn't any bugs present in this.
I will not mention mid or high end s40 Nokias because the buggy firmware started with these...Nokia 6230 and Nokia 6300. I must admit that the 6230 was less bug free than the 6300. For the most part the 6230 would just restart every now and again especially if an MP3 file didn't agree with the OS. The 6300 OS was the worst I ever came across from Nokia. Sometimes while on a call the phone would restart. The phone would freeze then a white screen would appear and stay for a while and then it would do a soft reset. Sometimes the phone would be idle and just restart. It was an absolute nightmare.
To be honest I would say my E51 is bug free for the most part. Whatever bugs appear is only minimal and nothing to really complain about.
All I'm saying is that all you people who are experiencing problems with your E52, I know exactly what you are going through because I have been there with previous phones...When I read some of the things you people go through with your E52, it brings back awful memories of the 6300.
I really want to get my hands on the E52 but maybe early next year when most of the hardware or software problems have been ironed out.
When it will be released in India?
I feel E72 will be difficult to handle due to small keys..
Though better battery life and processor speed, camera etc.. still E52 would be my priority..
Almost matching config.. with E72 but atleast a normal keypad...
NOKIA should stop announcing if it does not have guts of market launching in front of other competitors.
my problem with restarting was solved by replacing mainboard.
The problem was not with using too many apps, or sensors. First week it was only restarting, sometimes with message memory full, more often when I was using the phone. After first service, phone was now turning off, but not turning on. When turned on, again sometimes there was "Memory full, please close some applications".I noticed that phone was turning off more often when using Internet Browser, after 10 minutes of using phone turned off instantly. After third time at nokia Care Center, One day after I couldn't turn on my phone with messages like "Memory full" or "Phone startup failed, please contact the retailer." or "Memory full, please close some applications". Then they changed the main board. So again people, if you have the same problem...it is hardware issue. My phone with new main board works perfectly fine.
Yup. I think that's China, but don't worry cuz even fins are experiencing problems.
e52, e55 and e72. they're all on par with the problems.
on the side note though, the latest iPhone OS update is also experiencing dropped calls, restarts, data corruptions, etc.
30% of calls in the iPhone drops.
So we're not alone peeps.
No news yet of any firmware update, but I think there maybe something in November when e72 rolls out.
Hang in there people.
Just make weekly back ups if you can, and turn off as much Effects(Sensors, WallPapers, etc.) and keep it at Factory default until these major issues are resolved.
Also don't keep too much email inside, keep a minimum of 10 to a maximum of 30. check your new emails on your PC or Laptop.
At the moment I have 2 business emails and 2 Personal ones active on the Phone.
Do not move the Phone too fast when using the camera, this has been know to cause restarts and crashes.
Keep your open Apps to a maximum of 3. Always press Exit to close unused Apps.

Only problem I have several months is that caller have issues hearing me after a few minutes... I move around a bit, and then the caller can hear me again. This happens with both in- and out going calls. I have actually gotten the exact same comment "sounds like you're in a tunnell".
I have to admit that I might have felt something like a small sting a couple of times by my ear... when thinking back, I thought it was a piece of hair getting stuck or something... sort of like a stinging feeling.... but now when reading the previous comments, yes, it could very well be a small electric shock >:-o
Have there been words or rumors that any region has received a firmware update yet?
