Original_Jamaican, 27 Sep 2009I'm tired of hearing the complaints but I thank all the complainants because they are letting ... moreHad the Nokia E52 (made in Finland) for over one month now and I am quite pleased with it. It has a long battery time and nice design. However it unfortunately has some software issues. Major thing is noise cancellation that also blocks your voice in a noisy environment (like in the train or space with other people talking). Lot of my friends complained they could not hear me anymore while I had full coverage. Have read posts of people (on Nokia forum for example) indicating the same problem.
I also have the problem that internal GPS (without A-GPS) is not working fine. It worked quite well and was very fast in the beginning. But all of a sudden I could not get a fix anymore. After that I have reset the phone a few times (after which it again works fine) but after starting up Nokia maps a few times it has the same problem of not getting a fix. Hope that a firmware update will overcome all these issues as especially the noise cancellation problem is quite annoying when talking to people.

PPL, if you like lottery GO AND BUT IT - it's 50/50 chance to win :)
Made in FINLAND
I bought E52 yesterday. I am lucky enough, its stable up to this moment. Generally quite satisfied except one thing missed, but it must to me. I put all contact and calendar to gmail. I previously sync them wiht my winmo 5 mobile. E52 lack of true mail to exchange. The mail to exchange in this phone is a nokia service, like BIS. Its free of charge in trial period. I received warning message after setting up.
This service can only sync email only. After hours struggling, I can put contacts into my phone. Go to Nokia download site, no mail for exchange available for this phone. I tried MFE for e51, e-something, can't install. Nokia seems want to kick out this service, force users use Nokia service. Notthing real cheap in this planet.

If anyone with a faulty nokia would like to be part of an upcoming BBC Watchdog program in the uk please let us know in reply, This product needs to be recalled, Nokia need to sort this out, has anyone looked at Nokias own website forums about the E52 ??
Makes very interesting reading

All those who say the hand... moreIm not discouraging people, I agree the E52 could be a real winner, The apps installed and speed amazing build etc.. but reading many fourms and my own experience of this current owned E52 is not good, It does crash like many people are saying on here, These people are not making up stories, Its true to say that Nokia have a big issue here, Firmware update needed, I also had E51 just before buying E52, as for saying I proberly own a sony and putting down Nokia, Im sorry this aint the case, Although owning the E52 makes you feel like getting a sony etc.. Im not slagging the E52 down as soon as they fix the firmware fault it will be possibly the best phone ive ever owned, As for Nokia itself, Ive had many many and would only have nokia, No offence is put to you guys who are having no problems with your phone.. Yoy very lucky indeed... Regards Phil
BZ, 28 Sep 2009The E52 looks good on paper but in practice this phone is a disaster.

I have no complaints what so ever about my E52 (Made By Nokia).... I do not experience ANY of the issues you describe... not one single one of them!
This is, with the hand on my heart, the best phone I have ever had: GPS fast (actually very fast), browser is fast, too (actually so good that I removed the Opera mini that I installed out of habit), wifi and bluetooth stable and strong, call quality GREAT(!), Nokia Messaging works like a charm, screen crisp and clear, great build quality!
Only little irritating thing is that Ovi has not cleared it for their set-up yet so can not use for synching contacts and the works (I have not tried entering another phone, let's say E75, to see if it will work around it).
Oh, and, I do not work for Nokia... just flabbargasted by reading all these negative comments so I had two at least share how my phone works and how great I think it is!

Philsmobile, 27 Sep 2009I have now owned The Nokia e52 for one week after upgrading from the e51, I have brought the p... moreThe E52 looks good on paper but in practice this phone is a disaster.
I took the unit back to Nokia's flagship store in London five times before I found one that worked reasonably well. Was there a bad batch that were manufactured (Made in Finland) or is it due to a poor design, or maybe just some bad software? Nobody knew at the store and neither the store nor Nokia's own customer support seemed to know how to pass this information back to Nokia for resolution. The store had several E52 returns, they cared but couldn’t do anything about it. The Nokia customer care helpline promised to follow up but 10 days later I am still waiting for them to call me back with the answers to the numerous issues - see below.
Surely Nokia cares about its reputation. This is a business phone but the business community isn't going to buy it unless Nokia can take ownership of the problems and get them sorted. It is time for a recall, a firmware upgrade, and some apologies. I understand that a major phone operator in the UK has withdrawn the E52 from sale. I don't know why but I imagine it is related to poor performance.
Apart from the phone performance, it appears that Nokia may have bowed to the pressures of the mobile operators by disabling the ability to use WiFi for some data functions. The result is that some data can only be accessed through WAP and other connections default to WAP in preference to WiFi. These functions all worked fine on my E51 so I can only assume that it is designed this way to make the end user subscribe to data access. I tried Nokia Messaging but I do not recommend it – see below.
I took the phone back for a full refund and I will be very hesitant to buy another until there is some clear announcement that the problems have been fixed. I will limp along with my E51 despite the fact that it doen't work in the car anymore since the firmware upgrade to version 3. I know version 4 exists but not for my serial number!
Here is a list of the problems I encountered with the E52:
1. GSM signal strength worse than E51, so no reception in some areas where older models perform
2. Poor audio speaker makes it difficult to hear caller except in very quiet location
3. Microphone is very choppy so caller cannot hold a conversation. This appears to be to do with the noise suppression system. It gets considerably worse when Loudspeaker is on
Phone doesn’t always hang up after other party hangs up
1. Reverts to Home screen after Email synchronisation rather than allowing viewing of Inbox
2. Email inbox inconsistent with PC & Nokia E51. Several Emails missing, Time of receipt of Emails different to PC & E51
3. Email display doesn’t wrap and inconsistently displays content or link
4. Can’t download content for later viewing, needs connection constantly. Is this to provide more traffic to the mobile operators?
5. Does not hold LAN connection, constantly asks to reconnect. Is this in the hope that you choose a WAP connection for the mobile operators benefit?
1. Keeps asking to connect to WAP services even when connected to WiFi LAN
2. Poor WiFi range
3. Intermittent Disconnection from Bluetooth
4. FM radio does not allow connection over WiFi only over WAP
1. Phone stops charging after 5-10 minutes. Need to be disconnected and reconnected and then sometime stays in charge mode
2. Poor help screen relative to E51
3. Text disappears below the bottom of screen when editing Email & ToDos
4. Calendar freeze when looking for entry while connected to PC Suite. Remains frozen after disconnect
1. Permanently deletes items marked for deletion in IMAP
2. Does not offer alternate LAN connection when out of range of home server. This is very restrictive as you cannot access an alternative WiFi when away from your home network without changing the Email settings. This is time consuming and irritating
I hate to be so negative but this product should be withdrawn.
Avagalwa M Paul, 27 Sep 2009This is a great phone going by the specifications. I've owned Nokia 3100,6020,3110c,5320xp mus... moreno information from nokia to correct the feeling on the net, the problem is right? i am ready to buy the E52 as my eager to get the e50 3yeasrs ago,but the information i got is so discouraged, and i decide to give up my plan, i am so disappointed at nokia,i used 7 units nokia phone during the past 10 years, nokia never disappointed me expect this time, nokia i loved you,but what will you do for guys like me?
I unpacked my e 52 but it is not working did not turn on i dont know y?
Have had my E52 for only a few days, so I know it might be premature to comment, BUT...This is BY FAR the best phone that I have owned so far and I have had a bunch of them. It is not the sort of phone that can be dropped etc, but it is designed for speed and style and Nokia have down a sterling job. Love it!!! Only problem is why a 1 gig card. Should be packed with at least a 4 gig. 1 gig is too small for a phone with so many features. Off to buy a 16 gig card now.
yesterday I contacted Nokia Care again and asked about e52 and they said that Nokia did not reported issues to them. They asked me to install application Energy Profiler to measure power requirement. After that, my phone freezes again and turns its off. Now I need to send the phone back to service, second time, and I have the phone for 10 days. The phone itself works fine until it works.
Is there any Good Antivirus software site available for the E 52-1
Is it free or trial version???
4th Day today
Not a single crash, not a single hardware failure. All those who say the handset sucks don't even have the handset I think, or are Sony Ericsson moles planted on forums to discourage nokia buyers
Had an E51 before and this is what I see
+ Bigger brighter screen
+ Many times faster
+ Better T9
+ Better intuitive call dialing
+ Better browser with flash support
+ AGPS (Sometimes takes upto 4-5 minutes to sync)
+ After 4 days of usage, only 2 bars gone from the battery indicator (Heavy usage, experimenting)
+ Better camera/flash
+ Better buttons on the side and top
+ 3.5mm jack
+ Better gallery
+ Better email client
- Low phone memory (flash)
This is the inly drawback I found till now. After a clean software install, free phone memory is only around 25M. After you install n-gage, it drops to 12M, which I think is on the lower side (You cannot install N-Gage to memory card)
And all those people who say " it seems that more than 50% of these phones have been returned to nokia" go get a life. Does nokia send you internal company data just so that you can spread the word around and discourage people?
Pls Anyone can tell who have e52 or e55 that if u go to any radio website and then u click to listen to live radio...have u try to play and listen for example if u go to website LBC97.3FM and then play live soo can u try pls tell me is it ok?i did try but did not work pls tell me there is anyway i can listen my fm radio or have u try any software?thanks
