Repy to E52 fan,
N79, I never tried this model. I have used N82 which I feel is much better than N79. Both these N series phones are Camera oriented phones.
Menu in N82 was a bit slow. E52 is lightning fast. N79 looks never attracted me. I felt it like a Chinese made plastic toy that can do advanced gimmicks. I have always been away from these plasticky wonders from Nokia like 5800, N79, N96, N85 etc etc. Ridiculous, how Nokia manufactured these expensve gadgets in such cheap plastic body.
I have always been a E series fan. Now I am using E71. Camera isn't good but rest I am satisfied with my USD 385 phone. Atleast I feel proud when I hold the solid Steel.
I am surprised why E52 is not launched in India. But do not forget that Nokia has anounced three colours in E52 but only one colour is available all over the world. This indicates that Nokia is still undergoing mass production of this model and what ever quantity is already distributed is not the final product. It is still undergoing some changes before Nokia comes up with a bang. I mean full fledged distribution with complete range of colours.
Those who have got Silver Gray and if their product is working without any flaw should consider them lucky. I got the best unit, I never had any complaint whatsover with my E52.
E71 seems lagging in speed when compared to E52. But still I like my E71 too because of its built and feel.

Thank you very much.
My E51 took 38 secs. to backup the entire phone memory with 1,043 contacts and some calendar entries. So clearly the E52 speed is basically the same as the E51 when backing up the phone memory. I am mightly impressed (smile).
Finally got my replacement.
for the gallery, I'm not noticing any slowdowns.
it's pretty fast moving from pic to pic.
what they may be noticing is when the gallery moves into a video pic since both videos and pictures are combined in it.
All in all it's fast.
I'll check it against 5800 and E71 tomorrow.
The camera is also pretty good,( once again it is a phone camera and not a camera for all the critics out there. hehe).
just hold down the camera button and in a second or so you can start taking pics. the slow turning on of the camera was designed so you won't accidentally press it and it starts taking pictures.
If you steady on the D-pad it will fly across the pics, it will only slow down a bit when it passes a video.
I have 40 pics right now and the 2 sample videos pre installed.
You gotta try it out for yourself OJ, it is fast, no slow ups noticeable.
Steady left then steady right, it has some kinetic scrolling type going on. it slows up and slows down as part of the "effect" when it starts and stops.
It's a nice animation added to the gallery of this business-centric phone.
There is one serious bug in the phone.
When u select all contacts and create backup on memory card, It copies only a limited number of contacts and then says how many were copied and how many were not.
Information on this is posted on nokia discussions under "E52 backup contacts bug".
Till now i have only heard phones for APAC region have this bug. Especially with language set 14.02
Also the "multiple sms deletion " option by using the " # " button is not implemented in these versions. Ppl from european region confirmed its working on their phones.
So be careful when u buy from those regions.I got mine from singapore about a month back and sending it back to Nokia care for repairs regarding these two and a small display problem.
Any other info needed HTH.
For people asking abt the time to backup,
It took 40 seconds to backup everything on phone to memory card.
There were no user files on phone except about 500 contacts and calendar entries.
At time of backup there was 53Mb free space on phone.
my replacement phone has arrived peeps!
I'll get it at the Nokia Store after work.
I'll give a short review when I test it out tonight, fresh out of the box.
hi peeps, one thing to note about speed.
even though a processor is clocked at a higher cycle, the bottleneck would also be how the software application was designed or rather how fast it can operate based on it's design logic.
an app can only go as fast as it was built.
you might not notice any speed difference with certain apps because they've already reached their optimal performance at a lower clock cycle/speed.
Increasing the speed any further will not speed it up.
But you will notice that the higher speed setting will be utilized by apps requiring that speed limit.
PC games are a good example of this.
Some games won't run at a lower clock cycle.
I bought it recently. It is nice. I like the slim body and finishing. The battery power is amazing. Openig of any program or folder is faster. The keys are very responsive. Connecting with wifi is easy. Even weaker signal, it can connect with web. Simply I like this phone very much.
Forgetting navigation, would you say the E52 beat the E51 hands down in every area you can think of ?

Thanks for replying.
I wouldn't imagine navigation being much faster with the E52, afterall, nagivation on the E51 is lightening fast...which was unheard of in the past with Symbian phones.
Please do the entire Phone Memory to Memory Card backup for me and tell me how long it takes.

It comes with PC Suite on the memory card supplied with the phone.
However, you can always go to europe.nokia.com and download the Nokia PC Suite anytime.

Original_Jamaican, 07 Sep 2009To MUADIPH:
Do you find the processing speed to be slow in comparison to previous E- Series... moreCompared to E51, the navigation through the interface is just the same (which is fast). But the E52 is quicker when opening and running applications.
I also don't find the image gallery slow. It's not terribly fast either as I would have wanted from processor almost twice the speed. But it's just okay.
I also use the Nokia Photo Browser app. and it's a lot faster on the E52 than in the E51.
Yes the E71 is a lovely phone...in some areas, for me mainly volume, both loudspeaker and ringing volume. I could get into the areas which I despise like the lack of an icon at the top left (a feature the E51 has) which comes in handy especially if you want to see if your messages (sms, mms and e-mails) are being saved to phone memory or memory card at a glance.
However, where the E71 is concerned, the biggest turnoff for me is the very long time it takes to backup the entire phone memory to memory card. The last time I checked it was about 10 mins. whereas the E51 does it in 38 secs. Bear in mind that this test was conducted with both E51 & E71 phone memory being as free as possible with no personal files stored in either internal memory (only contacts which was a very small file size on both phones).
TRF (or anybody else who did this) my question to you now is how long does the E52 take to backup the entire phone memory with no photos or songs etc. in the phone memory...to memory card ?
One thing I hate is a lengthy backup procedure and this is one area the E51 is lightening fast at. So to all my friends who own a E52 please backup the entire phone memory to memory card and tell me how long it takes. Multiple replies are welcomed (smile).
I forgot where the pictures were saved, though I think it was in the card cuz that's where I usually put my stuff.
I'll carefully check next time around.

So you are saying browsing photos was really fast whether the photos were in phone ... moreI've only taken several photos OJ but it was much smoother and, in my opinion, much nicer since it adapts to portrait or landscape mode.
the e71 was a bit slow compared to e52, though it is still one sweet phone all the same, one of my favorites if not my favorite before e52 came along.
especially opening and closing files and apps.
that was more of my concern, cuz in the other phones the delays were noticeable.
specially the galleries, ah my loyal 1680 classic.
oh and I use tools and editors on it alot.
I'll give a detailed review also OJ about everything in it, since it seems everyone is getting mixed results.
I'll also compare it's video capability to e71.
once again, this is not a Holy war people in case some fans get offended on either side. hehe
the moment I get it back again I'll give a report on it's gallery nav speed.
I'll try taking 20-40 pictures and see which one is faster.

obviously ur comment wil help us a lot.
Have u ever used n79? Cn u comment on whch is better one in n79 and e52?
I hv nothing to do wid camera..! I hardly use it in my 6300 nd SE K530i.
Wat i need is
-best signal quality as i m staying in low freq zone.
-best performance of processor. (many of d boarders complaining abt its speed nd constant rebooting.) this may be due to less free RAM availability.
-best browsing experience.
-gud battery wid daily min 1 hr of browsing thru EDGE.
-better wi fi signal capabilities.
-last bt nt least gud quality voice calls.
I got unanimously gud review frm my frnds using n79. As e52 is nt officially launched here in india, i neither get a chance to hold it nor get review frm any frnd.
It is quite ridiculus tht e52 has been launched in small countries like pakistan nd bangladesh. Hw nokia cn ignore big mkt like india..?!
Waiting for reply.
