This is by far the worst phone I have ever experienced – and I have seen a lot! I am really shocked that Nokia could actually get themselves to actually sell this product.
The first impression of the phone i debatable. I have been issued a "mocca" one which is about the ugliest looking phone I have seen. Some of my friends find it absolutely fabulous. But once you operate the slider, you realise that Nokia still has a lot to learn in this area.
First of all, the mechanical construction is not good. Look at how Samsung and LG do this. And for reasons uknown to me, the phone unlocks the keyboard upon sliding it even a couple of millimetres, which easily happens when stuffing it down the pocket. Well, no problem, because it autolocks. Except it doesn't. When you close the slider, you are asked whether you want to lock the keyboard, at the default is no. Can't be changed. How daft is that?
The slider on my phone as well as at least two other phones can also cause the phone to switch off when being used. We are talking brand new phones here, so it is not even wear and tear (and even then, it would be unacceptable).
There are many weird things in the Symbian OS, which I will skip for now. But on this phone, everything is happening in slow motion. On startup, there is a 20+ second wait before it even asks for my PIN. After that, there is another long wait, until it can actually be used. Everything in the menus is sluggish and requires way more patience than I have.
This was my first Symbian phone and I thought it was a Symbian problem. Until I tried a Samsung i550. And another Nokia Sybian phone later on. They are all rather quick – by all the E65s I have tried are dead slow.
Symbian allows you to do lots of great stuff – but take my advice: Chose any other phone than the E65!
I have this phone. as a matter of fact is good but it's antenna (probably it is the antenna) is not good because sometimes there is no signal and in the mean time the network coverage is excelent. sometimes it is restarting by its self
got one 2 days ago-charged overnight as normal first time and it is already nearly dead....
Thankyou kay kay. i bought e51 instead of e65 and i cannot love it enough. this phone is absolutely amazing. i am in love with my e51. think i made the right choice. dont know about e65 though. but E51 - three thums up
Nokia E65 is very good for me but there is no radio is there any solotion for radio instalation?
The phone is awsome....I already sold at least 5 in the past 2 weeks, And I also have used 3 different e65s. ONE PROBLEM, The light for the # pad seems to burn out quick on all the ones I used... that sucks in the night, Its also a little slow going through the menu.
are u talking bout the top part by the speaker? that would be the light sensor which figures how much light there is for the keypad lighting
What is the thing at the right hand side of the phone??the round thing. in front of the phone. Can anyone help me?
im tellin u the e51 is better in everything. e65 may look good but its a dissapointment after a while. dont go by after 1 months use..talk about 4-5 month use....e51 FTW
I've got this phone for over 2 years now; if I had to buy another one, I would've chosen the same one. This is the best bang for your bucks. If you need a nice business phone with quad band gsm (best reception anywhere in the world), office package, perfect wi-fi and browser and don't forget voip, look no further. Checked my emails from free from Amsterdam's red light district, made voip calls from Barcelona and Cancun (where a minute from hotel is $4), god map directions in Rome, Paris, New York and even Buenos Aires via google maps. You can even buy bluetooth gps. Not to mention phenomenal graphics on cheap games, my kids love it. The best of all is slick and stylish design, you really look cool and classy and not like a geak with bulky N95 or HTC that's probably made for illiterate farmers. I feel that I need to share my experiance with this phone and help you make the right choice; this is italian design, german precision hardware, japanese quality and serbian creativity and defiance. Best of all worlds!! You can't go wrong. P.S. I'm an insurance executive, not Nokia salesperson:)
Bro my last phone was this phone and im typing this on my current phone, the e51. Look at the processors first. E51 way faster meaning more performance and less lag, sumthin tht also drived me nuts. Then the hsdpa capability tht the e51 has and the the e65 lacks. Theres no fm radio in the e65 and a few other things. So really if u want performance and liability u need to get the e51. This phone looks good but is really not as good as people are saying now. These people only got the phone when the price dropped and obviously then think its wonderful but u wnt regret buyin the e51 ill tell u tht
Thanks robert. so which one is better E51 or E65 since both are busines phones with wifi and i would want one. I even bought imatesp5. quite a nice phone but it hung alot so i return it and now i am still confused between e51 and e65. please help
Mohammed - I have used this phone for a couple of monrths and no signs of paint peeling off.
This phone is ok, it is meant mainly for business purposes, its got quite a lot of feature. One thing that drives me mad is that the slider sometimes wobles. But otherwise its good
my mobile dealer told me to buy e51 instead of e65. he told me that the coloured part gets peel of over the months of usuage. i am really confused since i loved the mobile and its features. can anyone help me out if they have experienced the same thing within a year of this mobile usuage. has the mobile coliur comes out and should i go for e51. please help ..
the phone is perfect! just one small thing...when i updated the phone software, it was fine till 2-3 days ago, than the vibrations gone mad! sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, i don't know what the problem is but it occured since i've installed the new software.anybody with the same problem?
I was just wondering, how does the VoIP function work on the E65. Does it use skype? And what if another person does not have a VoIP phone? And, I'm torn between buying an E65 or N81(8gb). Anyone can help me out with this?
Its a very nice and good phone but I used mine on wi-fi some time back and all of a sudden after installing Gizmo VOIP,it doesn't install java applications anymore, jst symbian which is really frustrating.Av tried formatting, reinstalling the software version online but all to no avail.
