The internal memory is totally encrypted and easily removable memory card is a security risk that many companies are not willing to take.
th3D, 18 Nov 2010be aware that this is an ARM11 processor, 680MHz is nothing in an ARM11. the 600MHz cortex A8 ... moreIf the CPU is a total failure, tell me why for example NFS Shift looks great and runs smooth on N8 and iPhone, but not so good & lags on those "fast" Android phones?
If the OS is a huge CPU hog and can't properly take advantage of GPU, what is the point? Besides those phones can only run at that 1 GHz for very short periods or they will a) kill the battery and b) overheat.
be aware that this is an ARM11 processor, 680MHz is nothing in an ARM11. the 600MHz cortex A8 processor of N900 is twice as fast as this one, and more than twice as fast in some media apps.
so pls dont think that "680 is not bad, it will not be much slower than a 1ghz snapdragon". Coz it will be insanely much slower. snapdragon is similar to cortex A8 in speed "clock for clock", meaning at 1ghz its at least 3 times faster than ARM11 at 680MHz.
Its obvious by now, Nokia CANNOT make Symbian run error free on Cortex A8 or Scorpio cores, only N900 has a modern processor and its also the only one NOT running Symbian. Not a coincidence. N900 is fast and delicious, ofcorse Nokia would like to make other phones like it, if they could.
If anyone can come up with a better explanation for why nokia swears to outdated arm11 for symbian i like to hear it. They know ppl dont wan ARM11 and still they havent done anything about it. we know its not a hardware problem, N900 (Linux) is the proof.
Anonymous, 18 Nov 2010This phone would have been great about two years ago. Lets face it 1 GHz processors are where ... moreLooks like another one bites the dust.. Its a business phone and the main focus of this device is the battery life not the clock speed.. Regarding the Resolution its only temporary "Symbian^3 devices is upgradable to Symbian^4 in the future s expect more features and higher resolution." Is your precious phone have that feature ^_^..
This is the one the best phone in nokia Thaanks Nokia for giving us wonderful technology & phones . Request you to make slightly smaller phones length wise , Blackbeery makes longest lenth of phone - 109 to 114mm . Even sony Xperia has launched a smaller version . 3.2" & 3.5...
Can anyone confirm when this will be available in the Philippines? Specifically here in Manila? Thanks
No card slot?? I mean, anyone could tell me what's behind this move?
Personaly I put all my data on my card and just slide it in other phones or laptop without using wires or blutooth... I'll just have to keep my e72 till they decide to include a CS
This phone would have been great about two years ago. Lets face it 1 GHz processors are where its at to use a 680 MHz processor is a major fail. The screen resolution would also be terrible, considering its the same number of pixel resolution as the N8 but in a larger screen, look at Motorola cramming 854x480 pixels into a 4.3 inch display. All the other features are gr8, love the slide out keyboard, but it could have been much better. Sorry Nokia, better luck next time.
distributor, 17 Nov 2010when will have NOKIA phone´s processor 1Ghz and screen 480 x 854 pixels ??? NEVER .Next year, when other phones will have 1.5 GHZ CPU's and 1 GHZ Dual Core... :D Nokia is late...
manish , 17 Nov 2010the same mistake should not be repeated ,done in n8, i:e single music speaker.what are you on about, the n8 has dolby digital surround sound.
i would like to ask if u know for sure if it is gonna be a document editor or just a viwer
when will have NOKIA phone´s processor 1Ghz and screen 480 x 854 pixels ??? NEVER .
Nokia used to make great phones... BUT:
-The new E7 has nHD resolution (360 x 640 pixels) on that 4' display (183 pixels per inch)- pity. What happened to the great pixel density of Nokia N80 (255 ppi). I'm just comparing a 2006 model with one from 2010, made by the same manufacturer, I haven't even mentioned Apple's retina display.
-The device has 16 GB of non-expandable storage (no card slot), which is wierd. Users have been there since the N95 8GB, and Nokia promised to equip all their new top-dog devices with 8GB+ internal memory AND a card slot.
-8 Megapixel FIXED-FOCUS camera- Good luck scanning your business cards/documents with that. If the E71 (2008) can do it, why can't the E7?
So much for a "Business Phone".
I love nokia phones but never new that symbian was a big part of the wireless industry, there number 1 compared to iPhone and Android. I just with they had more apps for the phone.
But the face that the phone has 3G for any carrier this is going to be a phone that is going to look good for T-Mobile and ATT customers.
Thaanks Nokia for giving us wonderful technology & phones .
Request you to make slightly smaller phones length wise , Blackbeery makes longest lenth of phone - 109 to 114mm . Even sony Xperia has launched a smaller version . 3.2" & 3.5 " inch screen in business category will be a welcome step . E-7 is very long phone to carry on to sites etc.
