hayato, 29 Sep 2010I'm just saying that symbian isn't presenting natively the features you have said symbian has ... moreAnd you are forgetting about usb otg. Nokia didn't copy that.
Also, if nokia's software fail to impress someone like you. Why not gave it's hardware possibilities some thought.
I heard that nokia is planning to put a smell detecting hardware(?) on the mic. The thing is still on research though.
Some might think it's ridiculous, but as nokia itself says, they are a phone manufacturing firm aimed at connecting people, they made long lasting hardwares at its best. They're certainly not a software company. But with stephen elop as the new ceo, things might change.
ShameOnNokia, 28 Sep 2010going by your logic, then so can android, ios, windows mobile 7, webOS(now owned by HP), BB OS... moreI'm just saying that symbian isn't presenting natively the features you have said symbian has copied. Because they can't see its relevance. Like the conversational view of sms. They gave the responsibility of doing so to the developers. But since the public is now demanding of those things to be injected on the Ui, because of the trend made by apple, they follow suit.
Copying can't be avoided these days (The first smartphone is made by nokia btw) Yes nokia copied too. But it's not like they are denying it.
If they are the best or not, the hell i care. As long as it does what it supposed to do, i'm still going to buy the phone i like(not necessarily nokia, i like samsung wave too). And as far as my history of using nokia is concerned, i never experienced any problems like most western people are complaining. (Asians get their nokias from china-based factory btw) And from there, you'll see why i always try to understand nokia's logic on processors, screens, and rams I never had problems with nokia. (i never had n97)
At the end of the day, it's people's individual preferences that counts.
Jos, 29 Sep 2010And this device, it doesnt hav that E-series feel it looks more like a n8 mini pro!How can it be a " Nokia N8 mini pro? " There is nothing mini about the E7, dimentions or specs. It will be better if they called it N8 pro OR N8 Messanger. Its really more of an N-series device, even the body is like an N8! If it has a stainless steel body, then it will be a real E-seires device. Right now, the colors available don't look to business orientated to me. I think its a sahme Nokia called it the successor to the E90 Communicator. THat was a legendary device, and about 3 year later they have down-graded. Tisk tisk tisk.
ShameOnNokia, 28 Sep 2010sure you can view it as me promoting the Galaxy S, because its a great product. I have no issu... moreGalaxy S is not set for international release. Unlike wave.
It has something to do with the digits in models i think, all samsung 4-digit models are released internationally. And available for retail. Some are released only through service providers, but not sure when, or if it's ever going to happen.
TC, 28 Sep 2010Can Symbian handle larger reslution than 360x640, if it can do so why do not Nokia do so on an... moreOf course it can! Remember that first smartphones(symbian) only have 240x320 display resolutions. Then it jumps to 640x360, what makes you think it can't support larger resolutions than that?
Why they use 640x360?
-So that all symbian devices will have the same resolution and it will resolve the issue of incompatibility of later apps made for first nokia touch phones running symbian^1.
-(Maybe) Because 640x360 is half of 720p screens ideal for watching hd videos.
-(Maybe) Because their next screen resolution jump will be 1280x720. For meego, symbian^4 or ^5
for now, i have a feeling that all symbian devices will only sport a 640x360 display. If you don't like symbian just because of the resolution, then, it's not the OS for you. E7's definitely not the phone for you either. Better go to other page than comment on a phone you don't even like.
And this device, it doesnt hav that E-series feel it looks more like a n8 mini pro!
ShameOnNokia, 29 Sep 2010... you're kidding right? Where do you think the OS is stored on a phone? its not on an actual... moreDude i dont know much about the hardware aspects of these phones i thought that firmware is stored in some phone memory specially reserved for it.
Jos, 29 Sep 2010What's the use of ROM in mobile phones...in computers its used to store BIOS the bootup firmware...... you're kidding right? Where do you think the OS is stored on a phone? its not on an actual partition in the nand flash... because nand flash is volatile.
What's the use of ROM in mobile phones...in computers its used to store BIOS the bootup firmware...
nice phone same like N8 with QWERTY only better to have card slot for better storage capacity.
atlast nokia has something that pleases the eye on 1st sight damn good h/set lets see if it works the way it looks
The iphone4 is a great device but its too expensive and has some other problems too. It can shatter into pieces just by dropping it. It does not have a qwerty keyboard and the screensize is also only 3.5" especially with that huge bezel surrounding it.
Similar phones with the same dimensions offer 3.7" screens.
The leaked photos late last year looked awesome but now that it's been announced am not liking this design at all.
Anonymous, 29 Sep 2010Well Nokia has pulled out the stops on this one and it seems that the fan bois will have some ... moreIf only that were true right? I don't know where you got that iphone is shits, maybe iphone first gen, however world wide apple have sold more than 50MILLION iphones. That's more than the amount of N900 and N97 and N97 combined. This is going by flagship vs flagship. Sure you can whine and say "nokia has 41% of smartphone market share", but they have more than one "smart phone". Notice the quotations because things Nokia considers as a smart phone many others don't. You may not like Apple as a company but you can't possibly deny that the Iphone was a success and changed how mobile phone manufacturers do business. Every company out there is trying to imitate Apple using an all capacitive touch screen based mobile phone with a centralized application market. Nokia is copying them with Ovi, Google is copying them with android market, Microsoft, Samsung also copying marketplace. The Iphone 4 may have its drawbacks with some problems such as antenna reception, however once you get pass that, theres no denying that the iphone 4 is a great device. The OS is very user friendly, the screen resolution is the most powerful of any phone, pixel density is also the highest, battery life is VERY GOOD, and the camera is actually really good too.
OOOOh imagine the hd video stutter as it tries to write to the slow mass memory.Every single mass memory device ffrom nokia is built to last and slow so whats going to be so diffeent from this.It does not matter if this fone is 2.0GHz and dual GPU its still will only write at speed storage/memory will allow and by nokias last efforts its not good.
Well Nokia has pulled out the stops on this one and it seems that the fan bois will have some explaining to do. iphones are shit - they always were - but this will be a hard pill for many to swallow.
