I recently acquired the phone due to a need for QWERTY keypad for long SMS for our guys on the field. First thing that came to my mind was a blackberry. But looking around, it so common. I am the type of guy that does not want to conform to the common norms of society. I am not a nokia person as well. Last nokia I had was the old 6150 series. I do like that phone too. I am more of a motorola ROKR and sony ericsson K series.
Though to my surprise, the E71 exceeded my expectation. It feels solid. Build quality is superb. keypad feels good and responsive without the plastic or rubbery feel. Screen brightness is good as well. Overall, elegant and classy looks and feel. It's like having a rolls royce of mobile phones in your hands. Fit and finish is perfect.
Performance wise, very satisfactory. Connection to wifi is good. Comparing to samsung corby s3653w, it gets good signal way better. Carrier gsm and 3g signal is also superb. Applications are readily available at OVI site for download. It's like getting a high performance pc or laptop and just installing applications and games that you like without any problems. Update to a new firmware is recommended though it just take time depending on your sd card capacity and connection speed. My suggestion is for you to remove your memory card before the firmware update to save time on backup. Battery life is pretty decent. No complains there. Fully charged 3 days ago, still have half of battery life with normal usage of calls, sms, internet browsing, playing, and using a-gps.
It is also cool to have the gps map that you can download for free at the OVI site. Very useful if you're not familiar on a particular place.
Well, that is what I have for now about this phone.
It is worth every buck. If you like to flirt and socialize, then go for blackberry. Everyone seems to have one, which is exactly why I did get the E71.
I guess E actually stands for ELITE.

nokia e71 now is priced at only 10550k including 2gb car, leather casing and pouch, usb cable and portable charger, its handling documents ability is well praised, and metal body, it seem to be a decent choice..

its like choosing between stability and innovation..

Dragan, 24 Dec 2010Hi, can someone tell me why on my E71 the firs line of the keyboard is QWERTZ instead QWERTY. ... moreThe reason why your keypad is using qwertz instead of qwerty.. maybe it's because your phone might be made in germany, czech or hungary. They are the one who is using that type of keypads.
Amazon has the white one too. Priced same as the silver one, for $179, and free shipping. It says it's 60% off. I thought it only applies to the silver one, but when I clicked on the white one that says $279, it became $179. Just sharing!
Vikas, 08 Jan 2011Can any one tell i can send SMS to howmany contacts at a time with E71?? Thanks in Anticipa... moreI'm sure to can send to all contacts, no matter how many they are. You can also pick who you want to not send to, on the full list, if you are sending to more than a limited few.
I really like this phone a lot. I have been using it for more than 3 years now, and yet, everything in the phone is very up to date and I never got the feeling I have to change to another phone, even when androids come in and touch phones are out.
I find the design sleek and classy. It is very thin and not bulky. The QWERTY keypad is very delicate and is easy to type in. I send more than 1k text messages in a month and I find it very easy to use. I even type my word documents on the phone when I'm reviewing because it is the only device you can hold the book open with your arms, and yet see the book, and type at the same time. No need for trying to force the book open and move my head left (from the book) and right (to my laptop) just to type. Everything is in one view. And then after that, all I have to do is save the document in my memory card and transfer it to my laptop if I want to.
When I got this phone, one of the details I have to have is a good camera. E71 has 3.5 MP camera and with an auto-focus, (or click t), the pictures are of really good quality. It is enough for my everyday picture taking. Though I'm planning to find a regular digital camera so I can blow up my pictures. But with one that comes with the phone, I really like this.
I also like the fact that it has a removable memory card. I can use it to store files that I need and carry it around with me like a USB stick.
I also like that it came with a headset that I can use to listen to the radio too.
Wifi is a blessing for me since I can connect to wifi's and not pay for a internet plan with my phone plan.
There are lots of games to download for E71 and it is easy to use the phone wifi and connect and download it right from there, compared to others where you need to log on your laptop and connect your phone, etc etc.
In these days where the ports are limited, E71 still has the infrared. I don't know when I'm going to use it, but I am glad it's still here, with the bluetooth and wlans.
Another thing I like about Nokia phones in general is that it is VERY durable. I drop my phone a hundred times and sometimes it opens up, with battery jumping out, etc, but when I put it back together, it works just like new! My phone has a lot of scratches and dents, bitemarks (from the baby I babysit for), etc. But it still works really well, considering it is around 4 years old or more already.
I can sing more praises about the phone, but all I want to say that is phone is a great buy and I love it so much!
