NITISH, 04 Dec 2010I m in a fix..
Guys !! pls help me out. Should i go for Nokia E71 or Blackberry curve 8520 ????Some advantages of the Nokia E71 over the BB Curve 8520 (I own both phones by the way)
3.2 MP autofocus camera w LED flash vs 2MP fixed focus no flash
slim steel body vs plastic casing
3G with HSDPA vs nothing for the Curve
Free lifetime Nokia Messaging vs BB BIS on top of your monthly plan for BB
Free lifetime Navigation vs BB Maps that needs BIS (which is on top of your monthly plan)
VIdeo calling with the E71
If you can upgrade your BB OS to v6, I would have to say that that is the only plus over the Symbian60 UI that E71 uses, otherwise BB OS v4.6 or 5 has lots of text only submenus that are not logically arranged, so the platform is definitely a learning curve.
Unless you get a BB Bold 9700 with the BIS plan, you're better off with the E71. But if you can afford it, go BB. You can't go wrong there either

It only happens on vids I usually download from Youtube. But I'll try those things you've mentioned later when I get home. I'm from Manila. And you? I was wonderin' how I could probably get in contact with you without posting any contact details here at gsmarena. You're probably pinoy. Am I right? hehe. Hula lang.

blackhawkcobra, 02 Dec 2010should i go for it?should i go for it?
BlackHawkCobra,
Know what you will use your phone for. If you want a phone that can handle your business and personal mail, can provide you IM, browsing thru either wifi or 3G, can open and edit microsoft office docs, then go for it.
If videos, pictures and music are your thing, there are other phones that handle those better. If they're just icing on the cake for you though, the E71 has got the basics covered.
Just think about it, out of all the phones launched in July of 2008, what is the ONLY phone that is still consistently selling today? Yup, you guessed it... All of those people can't be wrong right?
link, 02 Dec 2010features are good but camera sucks...very poor quality..features are good but camera sucks...very poor quality..
It is a business phone after all, so the camera is merely an after thought. I guess that's the trade off for having that slim profile. By comparison though,
the BlackBerry Curve 8520 has only 2MP fixed focus with no flash, and the higher model BlackBerry Bold 9700 has the same camera specs as the E71, a phone that is 2 1/2 years old :) So while the camera is not exactly N8ish, it will do nicely fro business uses like macro shooting of documents, scanning business cards for quick loading unto contacts, and reading bar codes, all of which the E71 does fairly well.

In some videos (like the ones I get from the net) that problem does exist. On others that I rip from DVDs myself, I noticed that I do not encounter issues. Tell me if you notice the same, it could actually be the video source and not the player. Or the E71 video player simply chooses to buffer low quality video. If all else fails, you can try using Core Player for E71. I haven't tried it myself, but other users here say it works fine.
I think you can find it in mobile9 or getjar or some other site like that.
By the way, where are you from? :)
E71, 02 Dec 2010Hi E71 Gal, The Nokia E71 video player is pretty limited in terms of video codecs and can't... moreHi there E71.. actually that's what I did and what I always do. I use the Nokia PC Suite to transfer videos from my PC to my phone as it converts videos to their right format and bitrate. But it's just like that, save it to my memory card and it just pauses as if you're watching on Youtube and it buffers. It's a bit like that, only shorter buffers. Like half a second. Some videoes by the way play smoothly. I just notice that with a couple of videos I downloaded from Youtube. I'm planning to delete those videos and maybe transfer them again using that same process with PC Suite. Maybe that would work. If you have other troubleshooting ideas, let me know! Thanks!
