Thanks again for your quick reply.
4 MB is the size of the Map programe not the size of the map. After the update I have installed the Map of India (103 MB) using Map Loader from Nokia site. In this case in off line mode GPS navigation is possible. I think you know that in Nokia GPS two options are available: Online and Offline. I use offline. I believe that you know that same off line GPS is also providing SatNav (www.satnavtech.com/). I have GPRS connection but not have unlimited GPRS plan.I use internet using WiFi connection.

If you notice the size of the download file is merely 4 or 5 MB which cant hold maps of the whole world and all the other facilities provided by OVI maps. Hence GPRS is required so that the desired data can be provided to you as and when called for. If you do not have GPRS then you are wasting E71. Its charm lies in GPRS or 3G connection. Without which most of the facilities provided by the phone go under utilised. Now that you have spent so much on the phone, please spend some more on recurring basis on GPRS as well, even if it is not unlimited usage. Here in Punjab BSNL gives unlimited usage connection for Rs 198/- per month. So must it be in your city as well. Go for Aircel or Vodafon that are as cheap.

VinayT, 06 Apr 2010Gunjan, It says v3.03 10wk 11b04 MW Open GL LM MN Map Version 0.1.23.112 www.nokia.com/maps... moreThanks Vinay for Map infprmation. I think ur Map versipn is the upgraded one (v 3.03) than mine (v3.01). So I'm planning to download it from the link mentioned by Opeel in earlier post. In your map version: You mentioned it is AGPS. I know E71 has GPS with AGPS facility but in your map version is it necessary to initiate the navigation always by GPRS and requirs use of GPRS ? I dont have GPRS data plan ? In other side the OVI Map that I installed (v3.03) doesn't require GPRS(it can be run in off line also); it runs only using GPS. Plaease inform me with your suggestion whether I would install v3.03 or not.

Finding names is worse than my old Nokia. Before, I just needed to type "ST" and all names starting with "st..." came up; Stan, Stephanie and Steve.

On this phone, if I type "ST", I get ALL names that have the letters "..st.." ANYWHERE! I have to type out names nearly in full before I find someone!

Really, really stupid.

Congrats and welcome to the E71 Club. Here goes, but not necessarily in this order.
1. Whether you use GPRS or not, install an anti virus.
2. If unlimited usage GPRS, then install OVI maps. For the site visit the opinion of Opeel downbelow.
3. As the browser use SkyFire from OVI.com
4. Use Nokia Email depicted by @ as your default email client. It can have ten different accts running simultaneously.
5. Use fring as your IM. With one login into fring you can configure it to log into Yahoo, google, MSN, Aol SIP and many more automatically.
6. Visit www.getjar to download a whole lot of other apps and games etc.
7. Also download Ovi from www.ovi.com for many more apps.
8. Install fine mobile web server on your phone to run your personal website on the phone. For example visit mine at http://vinaytevatia.finemobileweb.net . From www.finemobileweb.net.
9. Install google maps from maps.google.com. And subscribe free to the Latitude option. Learn more about Latitude from mmaps.google.com.
10. If GPRS,then start using internet radio with over 2000 FM stations.
And install all what you can on your memory card to save RAM on the phone.
Need more???? Leave a request in my guestbook on my site given in 8 above.

I tried to access Facebook on this handset using one of the leading network providers in the country, along with some other lower end handsets on other networks. The other handsets managed to access the website but not this one. Now I'm not sure if it was the network or the phone, but it was a major dissapointment since I absolutely love this phone. Now, my heart is left scarred from this faliure... :(
