You took the greatest risk by updating the firmware yourself. I did that too and lost my E61i last year. Now too there is some problem with the firmware as you are having a white spot. Please go to Nokia Care and get it updated there. When they do it the entire firmware is rewritten thus overwriting viruses etc.
Use an antivirus as you are accessing the internet.
Download Google maps and get lifetime GPS support free. Go to www.google.com and download free. Google maps are the best so far as they not only have maps but satellite view and terrain view etc of the entire globe.
The battery life of ten and half hour of talk time is only on 2G networks. Rest all are less. And by using GPRS, it goes down further. I am using at least 8 progs using GPRS continuously, and the battery lasts only 6 hours. Still not bad.
Yes, E72 is better but the cost factor has to be taken into account too.

TO all E71 users,
The front video camera on this phone can be used only on 3G networks. This is what the handbook says and this is what it is. BUT, if you install latest Fring from www.fring.com, then Skype users would be able to use this video camera even on WiFi LANs. Try it and use it.
Also, if you download QIK from www.ovi.com, you would be able to use the front camera freely as you use the back camera. Just register free and download and install. Cheers.

Hey, ok so I have a Blackberry and was interested in buying a black e71. I mainly chose the BB over the Nokia because of the official Windows Live Messenger app and Facebook app. But now that I've seen Nokia Messaging, I saw that it now supports WLM. The Facebook app has been unstable lately so a link to the Mobile Site will suffice. But just how stable is their service?
I was looking into the e75, but almost all the recent Nokia's have been unstable and the e71 seemed to be one of the best of it's time. I'm really interested in getting this just wanted to see if anyone has an unbiased review of nokia's messaging service. Thanks!

i'm a nokia e71 user and i find it very functional, the problem that it has is similar to what the others had experienced, it is difficult to download a movie, there are few choices of downloads that you can have from the OVI store, and hangs quite so often, the answer to the previous comment, yes! the skype application works perfectly on the e71

One month old E71.
Three times visited in Nokia care for rectification.
1st time for phone hanging.
2nd time for softer problem.
3rd time for softer issue.
I have very bad experience with Nokia E71.

sorry evereybody i buy e71. and its good. i dont want to take risk so why i buy stable e71. i reinstall my firmware using nokia software update after that i got white very small dot on my screen. i am verey happy with e71 exept battery life.i search off the wifi , i change packet data in to when neded, i change in to gsm mode, power svaver mode minimum allthings se to minmum. i use gprs only . i using nimbuzz , nokia mesaaaging from the begining of removing charger ofcourse when chage complete its pass only 24 hr . rajesh bhai is that normal ? the white screen dot is that a serious problem ? i thoroughly check my screen before buying. and i check dot test buy hiding with finger . my current fimware version is 300.21.012. rajesh bhai answer me. all other thing is ok. gps is very accurate. but for only 3 months . nokia mesaaging is superb delay only 1 to 2 minute sending and recieving. if u want life time gps service go for e72

i buy this phone before 2 weeks. and i re install my firmware 300.21.012 after that a small white dot appear on my screen.but all other thing is ok . gps is verey accurate, noia messaging also accurate exactly 1 to 2 minute delay sending and recieving. some time imap or pop mail wil not work. 3g i didnt test cos.its not here wifi also not here atleast my place. batterylife - if i use gprs all time i mean nimbuzz , nokia messaging , full time online it will pass only 24 hr.i all turn off all the battery ruing process switc offed seraching wifi off , packet data when needed, gsm mode in this condition. yet it extend only 24 hr accurately.its quie annoying.
