The only thing that lacks from the E71 is the shockingly bad camera. A 2MP camera with no autofocus is better. Otherwise it's completely amazing, best phone I've used in a while.

If GPS is more important then go with something that will give you GPS. It's worth a look though on btjunkie, there are some nice "add ons" for GPS that might be useful. Just search for GPS and E71
Better than HTC P3470, So i suggest go for E71 than all HTC Phones(As of know HTC P3470 is rated as the best phone in HTC)

Pls tell me is it all the same for the e71 as well or does it get any better regarding retrieving emails?. Thx for you advice once again.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970I would choose for the Nokia E71! At the moment I have a Samsung Omnia, which I prefer over an HTC Touch Diamond.
Only having a touch screen is not optimal. Typing on a touch screen is not really handy also the use is not always that easy. I prefer real buttons! If you think a camera is very important then choose e.g. the Samsung. The screen of the E71 is a landscape screen and will do fine. Not the biggest, but good enough. Working with Windows Mobile is more complicated that Symbian as used on the E71, it also is slower.
So my advice would be to buy a Nokia E71 (or a Samsung Omnia).
is this phone read chinese, thankyou.
wick, 26 Nov 2008can anyone tell me if the gps on the e71 is voice promt , or not? and what is the beter option... moreNokia Maps gives voice prompts, also gives a 90 day trial, after that you'll have to pay for it. You can also use Garmin Mobile XT and Route66.
Samsung i780 looks tidy, so does the E71.
Do you want to run Symbian or Windows Mobile?
That would be the main consideration. Most people seem to prefer Symbian?
Have had the E71 for 2 weeks now and generally I can say that I have not been disapointed.
If you've used Symbian before you know what to expect. If like me your completely new to it, you can expect an OS which can seem slightly clunky at times with some options buried deep inside settings and sometimes proving to be hard to find. Once you've found your way around the phone you'll love it. (You might like to read up on keyboard shortcuts etc - There is a task manager)
Back up your data - espescially if you have bundled software.
I was messing around with some lock settings on my phone, this unexpectedly corrupted the memory card. This is apparently a known problem. The fix for this would seem to be, make sure your memory card is encrypted with a key which you have set before symbian tries to do some crazy voodoo stuff for you.
If you have fragged your card, simply go to the encryption settings and encrypt your card and save key. You can now read data off card, until you restart your phone. Then memory will apear corrupted. You'll end up having to format card completely to fix this.
Also TomTom will not work at this present time using built in GPS. There are other alternatives though, but TomTom would probably have been the best (if it worked).
Screen is OK sized for browsing net - you have to pan around a bit. This device is made as a compact do everything phone with a qwerty keyboard. As all this is built into a phone which sits comfortably in any sized pocket and can easily be forgotten about, concessions have to be made here!
Keyboard's good and predictive text allows you to mash the keys a bit more.
i am using this fone and I think I am in love with it. because it is really good in operation. luk is also kewl with gud handeling size and waight. the Inet is also kewl it is the best while traveling so jst check mails on airport and fly to nxt destination. but wat I dnt like is its too much fregile.
can anyone tell me if the gps on the e71 is voice promt , or not? and what is the beter option between the e 71 nokia or the samsung i 780

Anonymous, 24 Nov 2008Maybe u wanna confirm the time zone setting again. Unlikely the date wont change. Never heard ... moreThe time zone is correct. The problem is the date changes correctly for say 5 consecutive days and then all of a sudden on the 6th day, I notice the phone still have the date of the previous day. Is this a software bug or something particular to my handset. I have set the alarm to go off on weekdays only, but that should cause the problem. Anyone else with the same problem?
white color E71 look very classy
is the E71 compatable with blackberry software. I currently use the e61i and am very happy but have been offered an upgrade. Yay or nay?
