Shan2non, 19 Nov 2011I'm looking to purchase a phone. My two choices right now are the Nokia E71 and the Nokia E5. ... more@Shan2non
E5 is newer than E71 so it has better hardware specs. This is the obvious recommendation because of that and because it has a more recent version of Symbian and S60.
E71 was released 2 years before E5 so has outdated hardware specs (although some might argue that E5 is outdated too) and OS version. This, however, is more stylish and robust because of its slim and metallic body. Also, this might not be available anymore, so please check your local stores first.
Lisa, 18 Nov 2011Do I have to have a memory card to download pictures onto my computer?@Lisa
No, you don't need a memory card to transfer pictures from E71 to your computer. There is a USB cable included in the E71 retail box which connects the phone to the computer. But if you have a lot of pictures/files, I suggest getting a microSD, because the in-built memory of E71 is a bit small.

I'm afraid the deleted messages and call logs cannot be retrieved.
dawnkenns, 16 Nov 2011can i use my e71 to play video on youtube@dawnkenns
Yes, you can play YouTube videos on E71. When you try to play videos directly from the browser, it will redirect you to RealPlayer, and the video will be played there. There's also a native YouTube app pre-installed in the phone, if that's your preference.

Please i have already tried but the network is still on edge mode.plzzzzzz any mor... more@pablo
Well, you can try 'UMTS' instead of 'Dual Mode' to explicitly choose 3G. In this case, it's either you will have 3G signal or none at all. If it's the latter, you might not have 3G signal available in your area. It's also possible that there's a problem with your phone's antenna. If this is the case, I suggest going to Nokia Care near your area.

pablo, 12 Nov 2011i have yhe nokia e71-2 but the network has never switched to 3g before . Plzzzzz can someone help @pablo
You can go to Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Phone -> Network -> Network Mode -> Choose 'Dual Mode'
For me, the settings above makes the phone automatically switch to 3G network when available. Hope this helps.
Labyboy, 12 Nov 2011Its pretty easy to use the front camera on your Nokia e71 phone..
..All u need to do is to do... more@Labyboy
Nice recommendation there! I've been looking on ways on how to use the front facing camera outside of video calling. But I saw that CameraFX is EUR 12.99!! I think I'll pass. Hehe. Are there cheaper/free alternatives? :-)
