Normally a hard reset solves problems. Seems to me like you need to reload OR upgrade your firmware. You can use OVI Suite to do this or go to europe.nokia.com and download Nokia Software Updater in which case you wouldn't need to use Ovi Suite.
If you use Ovi Suite click on the tab labelled 'Upgrade Software' or 'Software Upgrade' whatever it's stated as.
If you use the standalone Nokia Software Updater then just run the program from your computre's destop or Start Menu and follow the instructions. Reinstalling the operating system aka firmware is usually a 5 minute process. You need to let it run through without interrupting it OR your phone could get damaged. Don't take this warning lightly!
Before you reload or upgrade your firmware make sure you BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA because the everything will be lost when you start the process. Since you have memory card issues you probably can't backup using your memory card so use OVI Suite to back up your contacts etc.
Before you do anything please check and tell me your current firmware. From the home screen key in *#0000# and it will tell you. Tell me all the info you see after putting in that code.
Finally, once I had a problem where I couldn't open my messages either and that was because they were stored on the memory card. It seems over times a glitch happens when you use your memory card for text messaging (sms). I no longer do that and I'm fine.
You may also want to consider formatting your memory card which means you will lose everything on your card so backup it up to a computer first.

i had issues with my nokia e71, i couldnt open my messages. so i called straight talk and they couldnt help. so i called nokia. and they had me restore to factory settings. that didnt work. then they had me do a hard reset. that worked. but since then i have had problems with it freezing up and messing up my memory card! but my main problem is no matter what i do ovi store will not install!!! i cant download anything! i just hard reset my phone just before writing this and tried to d/l and install now it says file not found-12. please can someone help me? i've been dealing with this issue for about 2 months! i need apps!! and themes!! please! something that works! i also have nokia ovi suite installed to my computer and i tried using that earlier to correct it but didnt help. but maybe it will now that i did another hard reset. either get at me back here or reply to ctdbjd@live.com someone has to know something, since none of you are complaining about it! thank you!

I think E71 is an awasome phone .
it is fast and quite easy to opperate it has fabulous camera quality since it has 3.2mp camera.
i think this phone is much better than any phone of same cost.

That's a strange problem. I have Nimbuzz and it works flawlessly. Is it installed in the phone memory or memory card? Maybe you have another program running in the background that conflicts with Nimbuzz. You can always format the phone and reinstall Nimbuzz. BACKUP YOUR PHONE MEMORY TO MEMORY CARD BEFORE YOU FORMAT THE PHONE AS YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING.

hey bro sry I fogot to put my name on that cmt.btw my 4GB memory is a class 2 one.may b that's y it hangs.Btw u ppl dnt service ur phns @least once a year ???? m doing so cause of that no dust prob now Even I had that but nw I service my phne @least once a year. . .
