jek, 01 Dec 2009i bought in in greenhills in san juan, metro manila, philippines just yesterday and got it for... moreThat's good Jek, you guys will always get things slightly cheaper than us, what colour did you get? My gf can't put it down, she's expert already, talaga!!
I've read from news that the China made version come in Topaz Brown which create a lot of problems in terms of software and hardware. Is it true??Also heard that the 600mhz processor speed is not up to expectations too. I am not sure about Silver but I have a Silver set E72-1 says to be an UK version. I've try to test the phone with Taskspy to see the 600 processor performance. Unfortunately the programme TaskSpy is not supported in E72. However, so far my E72 works fine. Talking about internet surfing, the download speed is fantastic, very smooth. I can watch youtube with the page full load within 10sec. Email client was doing fine with me. Batery is excellent. The problems I've face is that when I plug in my USB cable with PC, the OVI music player softtware somehow will hang. I cant close the programe until I unplug the USB cable. As for the sound quality I like the sound but too bad the text-to-speech sound pack is rather blur and unclear. Hope Nokia wil improve this. Overall i give 8.5 to this phone.
sheriff, 01 Dec 2009ok a little more about nokia e72...i ll say randomly. about the light leak in other colours... moreHey sheriff pl. Do me a favour..pl tell me about display is it sharp & clear?? kalboflyscot, 01 Dec 2009Just got back from the Marquee Mall here in Pampanga Philippines, managed to secure the phone ... morei bought in in greenhills in san juan, metro manila, philippines just yesterday and got it for PhP19,280 + PhP600 for the nokia screen protector, good phone!
Just got back from the Marquee Mall here in Pampanga Philippines, managed to secure the phone (topaz brown) for P19,500 (approx $415) good price for a good phone. 1yr warranty parts & labour. Early Xmas pressie for the gf.
Joe, 01 Dec 2009Thanks Sheriff for updates.. one question... how is the audio quality during calls without ear... morecall clarity is awesome....thanks to active noise cancellation....i tested it while driving through the heavy traffic of bangalore outer ring road....none of my friends at the other end of line complained.
the loudspeaker volume will be enhance with a firmware upgrade. i am sure of it.
The phone is slow, when compared with e71. To test that I started acrobat in both. e71 took barely a second, while it took 6 seconds for e72. it may be a faster processor, as far as the specs go, but seems that the os/applications are overloading the phone, and making it considerably slower. if you have an e71, or have used one, you will not like the e72. The e71 looks better, with a much much better built quality.
Arganon, 30 Nov 2009If you are gonna buy this phone.. you should think twice..too many software issues and bugs...... moredude, I gotta tell you this.. E71 is far better than this phone.. I dont think anyone wanna spend close to $600 to buy a bad phone..

You keep reporting odd issues, that background-cursor effect is once again something I haven't seen on the E72 after 4 days of heavy usage (heven after HelloOx and lots of fishy installs). Something is wrong so I suggest you perform a full reset and also reformat your memory card. My firmware version is 021.024, custom version 021.024.C00.01 17-Oct-2009 but I think that is the only version available.
The cheapest I have found the E72 here in the Philippines is P19,400 (approx US$412) from Nokia dealer in Marquee mall, Pampanga, going to buy one today for my girlfriend.

wow e series, 01 Dec 2009i have both e52 and e72, but base on my experience, e52 much better than e72.
Yes if e72 has ... moreHi,
In your opinion, it is the E52 or E72 that has louder maximum ringing volume?
Is the difference significant?
My major concern is whether the ringing volume can be heard in noisy environment.
Thanks in advance =)

@Spifo - You may think I am dumb and have not read the manual or something. But I have been using E61i and then later on E63 for my mails, for the past two and a half years. You may be right the unit might be messed up.
I bought this phone only for sake of a better e-mail client over my E63.
One more new thing. When I compose a mail then press options, the options open up. But I cant move the cursor on the different options. Instead the cursor moves in the background in the message body and the receipts. I cant send mails. It doesn't allow to press send. I tried with the D pad and optical navi function both.
KKK, 30 Nov 2009still more sadness.
It doesnt manually pull mails, if you put it on auto retrevail.
Meaning,... more3K Dude, your unit must be messed up. You select full body and get headers only? And mine checks email by itself on auto, every 10 minutes. I just let it sit and hear the sound of incoming emails.
I see dumb people. Who can't type. Or read; Especially instruction manuals.
I like the E71's build quality but people have to get over it and admit that the E72 is a step forward. I don't know about chassis build quality but other than that everything is better on the E72, there are many, many advantages. Worth upgrading and paying a lot? Probably not. Worth buying by someone who does not have a 71? You bet.
I've had one for 4 days and used it extensively (already hacked with HelloOx 2.3). It is a fine terminal, excellent build quality and I haven't had a single crash or reboot even after installing loads of stuff. Navi key works great and I love it, it just needs to be a bit faster, right now it's a bit for-dummies-only.
I have zero complaints so far... audio quality on calls is average only tho, definitely not better than my old tank 6630.. but it works ok.
It also feels fast, keyboard is excellent, audio quality with audiophile headphones is impressive. Only thing missing is an FM transmitter and 30 fps video recording (shame, it has the memory and cpu to do it)
ok a little more about nokia e72...i ll say randomly.
about the light leak in other colours....i dunno abt it cause in bangalore as for now only black is available.
and the cost is rs.21830.
the audio output through the speaker is very very low ...which in turn makes the text to speech option useless. but i expect with a firmware upgrade..this will be improved.
the audio quality through headphones is impressive and satisfying.
the display is a big turn off. this is the only arera where blackberry thrashes e72.
and the much hyped navi key...is cool but still needs to be refined a lot. its not worth using everywhere and i turn it on and off frequently.
and the os is awesome and fp2 transitions are eye catchy.....these graphics increase ur hunger for a bigger screen and u curse nokia everytime for this.
and the sexiest feature is the battery and not much to say abt it.
and i felt that while plugging ur earphones in the jack...it was not smoothly done. did any one feel the same???
and the short cut buttons work fine.
the switching between modes takes about 8 seconds.
the flashlight takes another 6-7 to switch on.
camera ok...very very basic...nothing much to brag about...just better than e71...thats it.
the overall build quality is fantastic..and i did not face the problem of a shaky loose battery cover even after removing it an umpteen times.
ask any questions guys...i ll be more tah happy to help.
today i ll set an email account and keep uall posted.
i have both e52 and e72, but base on my experience, e52 much better than e72.
Yes if e72 has qwerty key but its too small key so too difficult to use it.
Antenna receiver at fm radio in e72 is not stable. All application feels so slower run than e52,
