Well, I am a business mobile power-user travelling around the globe and rely on connectivity 24/7. I have used E71 for 8 months and I think it is seriously flawed as a business device(email set up is too messy, each new country has to be configured via the hard to grasp 'access points' (why?), keyboard is way too cramped to use properly (leads to widespread miss spelling), camera is shockingly poor, menu structures are illogical and easy to get lost, needed a track-ball (pearl) from day1). So, on this basis th E72 is likely to be more of the same messy software and compromised features.

The only option for international mobile business is Blackberry. Period.

hey rajesh,
thanks for pointing out the differences between E71 and E72. after going through your and others reviews, i think it is better to wait for a stable E72 for some time. But, i need to get a business phone now. thinking of E71 or BB bold. what is your suggestion. i will consider E72, maybe after sometime.

Rajesh, 29 Nov 2009Hi, By saying cure - metal, what infact meant a thin rim of metal around the front of E72, bru... moreHi guys,
Thank you for your review. I think it is overly enthusiastic but it is very nice to read nevertheless... I am a business user and not much of the mobiles enthusiast but still I'm a heavy user. I'm using E72 for a week now. I've got it to replace my E71. Unfortunately, I have to agree with Rajesh - there are real problems with this phone. The backlight leakage is awful! Even E63 has better mounted keys for goodness sake! But that's not the only grudge I have against E72. I thought it would be an UPgrade of E71. For me "UPgrade" means that you get everything from the predecesor plus some more or better. Not in case of E72... For bussines user like myself what I get in terms of information is as important as what (and how) I can send out. But the new software of E72 does not include internet radio or podcasting. One can not get it from Nokia. And I didn't find any reliable offers from third party vendors. So with Nokia E72 I not only can not enhance my phone-related life style but I have to cut down on some activities! This is not acceptable for me. And I dont care if menu icons are nicer or not. It's supposed to be a business tool so it should be about usability not gimmicks...
I could go on about why I'm not going to replace my E71 with E72, but just let me assure you that my E72 is going back to the store. With a note to Nokia "MUST DO BETTER!"

Friends, all companies have went through the recession curse. Some some of them have lost heavily and became history and many of them have fought through it and trying to gather thei will and come back with flying colours.

Nokia launhed E71 before recession began. Nokia71 a messenger of steel. It became super hit immediately. But soon in 3 months recession was getting worse and Nokia starte loosing its sales as middle class kept away from high end E1 and most of the upper class was being diverted to Bold 9000.

But Nokia was ready with cheaper plastic messenger E63. E63 was well accepted by middle class and also became a good seller.

RIM did not stop posing challenges, it came up with 8520 which is priced around USD 240 to USD 265. Bold 9700 was under production.

Nokia took leap with E72. It is meant to merge both upper class and middle class buyers and the actual price it will fetch in near future should be around USD 350. With lots of features thrown into it, Nokia will make this handset within reach of most of the middle class buyers and also will target corporates who have been inclined towards Blackberry solution for their executives.

We can expect E72 at price of around USD 350 about end Jan or mid Feb 2010.

Anonymous, 29 Nov 2009i don't think GSMArena's review says it looks plasticky. The below is the snippet from GSM's r... moreHi, By saying cure - metal, what infact meant a thin rim of metal around the front of E72, brushed metal home & action keys and a back metal battery cover.

I have mentioned in my earlier review, I will repeat again 1) Hold both E71 and E72 in your hands. The sides left and right (where you will find volume keys and memory card/usb slots)you will see E71 if whole lot of metal and E72 is whole lot of plastic. I am also confused if the power key and volume keys are metal or chrome plated material. 2) The backlight leakage from its left and right soft keys makes E72 loose its charm and make it feel very ordinary. I guess its a finish problem and I am sure the 2nd or 3rd batch of manufactured handsets, you wont find backlight leak.

Friends, after going through certain updates in Hardware as well as software department, I am very sure E72 will be a best seller for long time to come.

Right now E71 is most reliable and a good mobile companion to keep.

Is the radiation level at 1.31 W/Kg too high and really unhealthy? (http://sar.nokia.com/sar/index.jsp)

The last I checked online, a SAR level higher than 1.6 W/kg makes a phone unsafe... or was it 2.0 W/Kg? Please clarify.

I wish the newer phones had better SAR levels.

"Speaking of hardware, the "cheap plastic syndrome" is the curse of some of the most capable smartphones. Blazing fast wireless connectivity won't make up for the cheapish looking plastic. But the Nokia E72 has the cure - metal - and it looks as good as it performs."

In fact, it says E72 looks good with metal.

hate liar, 28 Nov 2009i know u report my review and have gsm deleted my post last night, but i dont care, i will ju... moreMy dear street smart, do you have to be a millionaire to buy E72, you have learnt to read and write but you did not read my earlier reviews about E72.

I have been posting reviews about my E72 since last 1 week. I mentioned about sound quality through speaker, web browsing, camera, about feeling being more plasticky. All have been confirmed in GSM ARENA reviews.

So keep it cool, maybe it is so hard for you to own E72. So tell you Papa to lend you some money. Yesterday I sold my E72 and I lost about USD 50.

But I will definitely buy again when the price has dropped further. Yes the price is dropping very fast here in Indonesia.

We have a surfer Adrian13 who is from Indonesia. He will also admit when a new mobile phone is introduced in Indonesia it is always very highly priced.

I always buy a new mobile and try it for a week. I lost USD 50 but I had a satisfaction that I tried a most awaited model in the world. While there are thousands who are thinking whether to pay high price or no, I have already owned and disowned it.

You wont understand this feeling, because you are not a genuine technology admirer. You are here only to try to squeeze yourself in and try to get some attention.

Go and play with your old Nokia which you bought maybe 3 years back.

If you want to catch up with latest tech, than buy this new phone, it has it all, it 2009 men. Unlock your self from from old tech.

It has better processor, better OS (FP2 vs FP1),
better email client (e71 has a old fashion one, even after latest v40 fw update),
electronic compass (turning your phone around will turn the whole map),
better audio quality through headphone (e72 has its own sound hardware),
touch pad (its feel like u have a semi touch screen phone, especially when you browse gallery effortless, just by sweeping ur finger),
5mpix camera (powerful like nseries),
usb charging (u dont have to bring a charger to ur office, just bring that short usb cable),
bigger phone memory (250mb vs 120mb),
fast usb transfer (almost triple speed compare to e71),
accelerometer (turn your phone upside down, to mute ringtone or alarm, with 3rd party apps, u can do better than this),
cheaper launching price (dont compare price of one year old phone, with a new phone, e71 launching price is far more expensive than e72)
