oh, and to address the concern about the E72's seemingly more "delicate" construction - it is absolutely bollocks. the E72 is very solidly built and it only feels "delicate" in your hands because it feels classier and much more precious. in other words, that judgment is, for the most part, psychological.
the camera seems to be a HUGE upgrade over its predecessor, the E71. it is lightning fast to activate and take pictures (i dare say that the image quality is on par with most n-series phones, which is unsurpassed by previous E-series phones), and the flash (which can be doubled as a torch) is quite strong as well. overall, a holy-grail miracle-doer which combines the best of the N-series' and E-series' worlds.
oh, and the battery cover seems to be a little ill-fitting, but is overall still quite stable (i.e. doesn't jiggle around).
some useful tips when using the E72:
1. pushing and holding down the "home" short-key reveals the multitasking menu.
2. to lock and unlock keypad - push the left soft-key followed by the right soft-key (as opposed pushing the left soft-key and then the asterisk key like traditional nokia candybars).
3. pushing and holding down the middle volume toggle key (located on the right side of the phone) activates the voice command function. it works extremely well.
4. pushing and holding down the "messaging" soft-key immediately leads you to composing a new email (to, cc, subject, body, etc).
5. pushing and holding down the key on the bottom left hand corner of the keypad (the arrow-shaped key) activates the search function.
*just another reminder to current (and potential new) owners of the fabulous E72: the sensitivity of the optinavi pad can be adjusted.
has anyone noticed a narrow shaft between the bottom of the screen and the top row soft-keys? i have a feeling it's going to be a vacuum for dust entering the screen...
E72 is now available in Bucharest. I bought it yesterday from Vodafone. The price is 379 euro (if you choose to just buy the phone but not subscribe for a vodafone plan). The unpleasant part is that Vodafone only distributes the black version, and as far as I understood this is the only color you can purchase from them.
The package contains of course the charger and hand set (the hand set looks really good), has a 4GB memory card included, a data transfer cable (it is very short though, about 15cm) and a "coat" for the phone which looks very classy.
I don't like that the back side of the phone does not perfectly fit (it moves a little - I saw this after inserting the SIM and I read reviews that say others have the same problem) and the back-side it's made from metal and is a fingerprint nightmare.
I love the optical navi key, it works like a dream and you can opt to vibrate when moving. I like the keyboard and the phone responds really good and fast after pressing a key (I played a little with E52 and hated the keyboard and how the phone responded when pressing a key). The camera takes beautiful pictures.
I had one problem because after inserting the SIM I had a message icon permanently blinking on the screen. If you have the same problem, you must delete the messages on your SIM and the icon goes away.
This is what I got to test this far as I got the phone late last evening.
I would like to read here other users opinions. So if you already have a E72 please share your experience.

I am having problems about action keys and navigation Dpad. Since last 2 hours it has been behaving strangely. Sometimes I press the left or right action keys but it takes a while to appear on screen. Navigation Dpad at times become too sensitive and cursor moves too agressively.
Do you face this problem?
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970You call yourself Sheriff??? When, where and what price did you buy your mobile? Which colour is your mobile and is it made in china or Korea? I have been noticing that you have been adding remarks about every person who make his or her post on this site. I doubt you ever own E72 or as a matter of fact maybe you have never even used E71. Now look you smart....Add a genuine post or just keep your.......zipped.
c, 21 Nov 2009there is point getting abusive. I have been a Nokia user for 15 years and had the E72 which ha... moreNice to know about your choice of Blackberry 9700. How is its built quality when compared to Bold 9000. It does not matter if we talk about Blackberry on this site as whoever wants to know about E72 its not only the positive and negetive points but also how this device fairs when compared to other Qwerty smartphones from RIM or Windows Mobile. Please do not care about some fools who maybe are blind Nokia Fans and only want to know about goods things about Nokia products. We have brains and we know how to make decessions but some kind of inputs and feedbacks will help us to make correct decession about buying a product. This is called PRODUCT AWARENESS.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970there is point getting abusive. I have been a Nokia user for 15 years and had the E72 which has small glitches in the software. It doenst save the conrct wap options etc and bluetooth wont pair on certain things.
I swapped it for my very first Blackberry Bold 9700 yesterday and i was shocked to see how much bettter it is then a Nokia. The e-mail functions are just amazing and no issues with bluetooth. Compare the 2 screens and nokia looks dull in clarity.
I am sorry but this time I have to hand it to Blackberry for the 9700. 3g and wi-fi also in 1 handset now.
Anonymous, 20 Nov 2009got the brown one, more plastic sides copy of E63. My home button or Menu centre bottom betwee... moreWhich country are you from, you said E72 brown at USD 570 and E71 black at USD 350. Man they are ripping you off. E71 today cost USD 275 and E72 costs USD 480 and I am hearing price is dropping very fast. Though I bought E72 at USD 480 2 days back I dont want to sell my E71 as its built quality is so adorable that E72 feels cheap when compared to E71 ( I mean hardware, as E72 software is excellent )
Anonymous, 21 Nov 2009 i heard n read tht by 25th it would b out in india...someone also posted sayin u can checkout... moreJust heard it got released in New Delhi and the price quoted is IRs 30K.... Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970 i heard n read tht by 25th it would b out in india...someone also posted sayin u can checkout w/o bill handsets at manish market and alfa stores in mumbai. when i went to alfa on tuesday the e72 was not received by them they said....and told me to try next week.
Hey... this is both a good functional and cheap phone in singapore, selling at 99 with plan at singtel
oh calm yourself. it is important to discuss a phone in perspective of it's main competition.
Though I definitely favor the E72 as an all around superior device I do not discredit the Bold 9700. It's a fantastic phone that leaves very little gap between the 2 products. The wi-fi stability needs a touch and I am surprised they did not update the 3G and Camera features to compete better - but that aside it is a solid feature-set.
I am excited for release here in Canada. Despite the endless banter about this phone the facts are clear .. this is the flagship business phone to have.
Solid build which it inherits from the modern E class and the E-71 and now with even more metal parts. This takes everything good about the E-71 and makes it even better keeping things up to date.
The number 1 competitor here and spec-wise is the BB Bold 9700 which has great features such as BB messenger and the awesome BB OS .. however the E72 does outspec with an unquestionably better build, proven OS, solid feature-pack with fast 3 and a 5mp shooter to boot.
oh, i found the answer, use the N97 to charge the battery of my E72. that way, i can leave the extra battery being charged while i go about with my E72!!!
finally i got this Nokia E72 Smartphone. The Topaz/Brown is very elegant! the perfect fone for me who: texts a lot, surfs a lot, listens to music a lot, takes pics a lot, looks at pics a lot. its P23thou here in Phils. Thanks Nokia, you did not disappoint me this time...Now, what to do with this buggy N97?
