How is this possible? e72 has a dedicated audio chip, i.e. it should have a similar class of audio quality to an ipod or any other music dedicated phones. Of course, I have not tried it myself, but I am saying this based on published specs by Nokia. Which headphones you tried it on, what encoding quality (bit rate), what type of music (some horrible loud pap or decent classical music/jazz)? Thanks in advance for your comments!
o.k. Rajeesh this is anon and i decided to use my name LOL....that was SUPER informative...when i was back in the USA in July I had a chance to handle the E71 at an AT&T store....simply outstanding build quality...I love the look of the white and all black E71 and I heard that even with the firmware upgrades the camera is lacking. I love the idea of the faster processor..I don't mind the carousel..I still have an N70. i guess my main concern is build quality which must be different than what I have read in the very thorough allaboutnokia.com review. I like the look of the BB 8900 and the 9700 but I travel a lot outside the country and there are big time issues with BB. anyway thank you so much.
someone please help me!!! should i buy blackberry bold or nokia e72?!!!! i am going mad!!!! which one should i buy in terms of design messaging and listening to music and for usuage under de sun!!!!!!! someone please help me....
Anonymous, 20 Nov 2009Rajeesh...this is anon again...didn't mean to come off harsh. Your last post is very useful i... moreE72 is very good as compared to E71. But as in my first post I indicated that E72 right now cost about USD 480 but now E71 sells at USD 275. This huge differnce of USD 205 will put off many potential buyers and make them wait for price to stabilise.
Here are the points which may help you in deciding between E72 and E71.
1) Camera on E72 is much better than E71.
2) Colour saturation on screen of E72 is much authentic and rich. Images look very lively.
3) Dpad or optical navigation pad whatever you name it is very nice and quick to use as compared to E71 where you had to press direction wise. It was annoying sometimes while browsing.
4) Menu, Email and web browser has undergone various changes leading to a very good feel.
5) E72 is very speedy and you get the job done about 10 to 20% faster than E71.
6) you have an added usefull feature like 3.5mm jack for music headphones and a torch which serves when needed.
Now drawbacks -
1) That full metal feel is gone. You will have mixed feelings of metal and plasticky.
2) The action keys though have a bit of metalic feel, it still feels loose and gives a bit of unsatisfactory mind status.
3) Speaker has been shifted to back of the handset. I used to enjoy watching videos and hearing music on E71 and speaker used to deliver crisp and clear sound as speaker was on top of the set. Now with E72 the sound hits the platform on which handset is placed and the output is louder but a bit distorted quality.
4) The audio quality on E71 was better and on E72 leaves you wanting more.
5) Gallery on E71 had different locations classified as Images and Videos. But on E72 it has taken a carousel wheel form which you will find on N series. I dont feel very comfortable using it as it takes longer time to locate the file if you want to do a quick browsing lets say for one image file and you are encountering videos as hurdles to reach that particular image file.
Hope this helps you in deciding between E71 or E72.
For those blowing the Blackberry trumpet, here is my take. Blackberry is good but not that good. I would take Nokia as a perference any other day. Finally Blackberry is not that big globally. It is only really popular in Canada and the USA. BB has got even more popular once people knew Obama had one. As for the iphone 3GS, what a waste of overhyped rubbish - no radio, no SD card, touchscreen, music only through itunes. Looks great but just a trophy girlfriend. With Nokia, you cant go wrong.
Rajeesh...this is anon again...didn't mean to come off harsh. Your last post is very useful info...I was considering getting the E71 in white or red...and seeing as though I'm in and will be in Korea for awhile I won't get to feel the E72.....on a scale from one to ten..how is it compared to the E71...and is it a deal breaker in your opinion?
Hi all, to those lucky few who have the Nokia "Shiny Bullet" E72, my queries are as follows;
Can you confirm no accerolometer? I am not too bothered as I prefer Panoramic views anyway (which we get on TVs, PC monitors, laptops etc). This is why I love this phone.
Is charging only USB or can we choice between USB and a normal charger socket? What charger socket is supplied?
I am considering getting a 16 GIG Memory card? Will the phone take that? Do any of you have a 32 GIG SD card installed which works perfectly?
According to a new owner, the screen is not glass like the E71 but toughened plastic. Is this true?
Is the phone plastic as I have heard or completely metal like the E71?
How many games come with this phone and what games are they? I know I can download numerous from various websites but I am just curious.
For those game players, does the back or phone unit heat up when you play games for over an hour? This heaing occurs on my Nokia 5800 which I trade in for the Nokia E72.
It is NOW available in the UK from the UK Nokia website and the Nokia Store in Regents Street, West End London. Surely it now available in every part of the world apart from North America who always get phones last for some odd reason. I suppose those guys can buy online from Amazon, ebay, play (dot) com etc.
I think I prefer Silver or Black. Topaz doesn't look nice in my opinion. Maybe in the flesh, Topaz would look stunning. To be fair, I would take whatever colour my people give to me.
I'll purchase this in December and keep it for at least a year
got the brown one, more plastic sides copy of E63. My home button or Menu centre bottom between select and yes always stuck until hard press even lights is seen inbetween. Obvious reason Made in China careless asembly even under Nokia supervision. N71 made n Finland superb mare solid heavy and durable.I regret to sell E 71 at loss and buy Brown at double price 570$.
Wait after N900 release it must settle at 400$.
Flash starts the moment cam inn silly better with cam button no dedicated butt for Camera.
Idots why dying to buy now see fate price of E 71 black now 350$ much better firmware and cheap.

But are you sure it's audio is better than E71. I have both E71 and E72. I find E71 Audio has much better depth in sound quality. I just bought E72 yesterday evening. But you are right about built quality. E72 is not as sturdy as E71. Sometimes I feel it has loose ends somewhere. I had a same feeling using E52. It feels a bit more plasticcky rather than metallic. But performance wise it beats E71 any day. Yes, the new web browser is super fast and pages appear in much better pattern than they used to on E71.
I dont understand why Nokia gave away the Metal feel of E71. E72 features and add ons on E71 hardware would have been a best combination.
why don't you, GSM stuff, review this phone? it's already been retailed in my country, vietnam. thanks

There is a simple reason why - t... moreguys and gals who hv just bought E71 are missing the most essential part...E72 is the device which would give you the great email and messaging experience together with loudspeaker and audio capabilities with camera functions. Although it has a plastic feeling and build quality of E71 is good but user interface and experience is the best in E72
Rajeesh this ia anon speaking...correct me if I am wrong but this ia a forum about the merits or lack of, of the Nokia E72 and not about market share. You aren't telling anyone here anything they don't know already but somehow I don't think that the people on this site CARE about market share...they want an E72. So lets focus on the issue at hand the "E72" If Nokia's market share plummets to 10% I won't care, as long as I have my E72 I'm a happy camper.
Friends, this is a link to show you guys that Nokia has in fact lost a major market share mainly because of iphone and Blackberry.
I hope you guys are educated enough to understand when we say a company looses its market share that means it is loosing clients who buy their products.
There are hundereds of facts on various web sites proving the numbers and data.
Some people just come up with big mouth full of filth and want to prove the point that E71 is winner, E72 will be the winner.
OKAY. If it suits you. I never said E71 is bad or E72 will be bad. Infact I am saying E72 will be able to fetch a more client numbers if Nokia start selling it at a affordable price and must put more support to push E72 sales past any other model on planet.
Please follow this link and mind you this is only one of hundreds of links which will show fact that Nokia has lost its grounds recently.
Anonymous, 20 Nov 2009Rajeesh and any BB fan on this site....review after review states the E71 as one of the best. ... moreHi Anonymous, I never said which phone is better BB or Nokia E71, Please read correctly before you comment. But somehow many Nokia Fans ditched Nokia and adopted Blackberry Bold 9000. And mind you Nokia had many models which were best selling but Blackberry had ONE AND ONLY ONE " Bold 9000 " which snatched away a major market share of Nokia. And its not E71 only which lost grounds almost all Nokia top models were badly hit. But nobody can deny Nokia E71 has been a best selling model be it N series or E series. But in the later half of 2009 Bold 9000 ruined all Nokia sales. You better have guts to admit that. Therefore it was my opinion Nokia should not loose its ground now by overpricing E72. It should price it such a way that it becomes a best seller and beat any other model on Planet. I have no doubt whatsover that Nokia E72 is a very good gadget to own.
Anonymous, 20 Nov 2009Rajeesh and any BB fan on this site....review after review states the E71 as one of the best. ... moreforget the awards ....the fact that e71 is largest qwerty selling device ever must prove the fact that bb has bitten dust. but yet not these freaks of nokia haters crop up crazy facts based on their ignorant assumptions. wake up sick fuks...ba11sberry is no match for MIGHTY NOKIA.
sheriff, 20 Nov 2009guys ....no ones giving an insight of the camera...come on. we will just have to wait for gsmarena review,,its still a new fone and still hard to find..
Rajeesh and any BB fan on this site....review after review states the E71 as one of the best. It won PHone and SMARTPHONE of the year awards in 2008. Now the E72 is an upgrade to the 2008 phone of the year and you're saying that BB 9000 is somehow better that the E72 when most wouldn't agree that it was better than the E71....where is your LOGIC. Now I know all of these are opinions but the vast majority of everyday people and the experts who review phones for a living seem to be saying that NOKIA has a winner.
