Having IRDA would no doubt raise the cost a bit, would mean more weight (it takes space too) and as a data transfer tech it is miserable.
There is no use for it except as a remote...but I think most brands are really giving up on those (Even my old 6630 lacked it already at the time and it was price).
I'd rather see it pack other more useful features like an FM transmitter (to listen to audiobooks in your car's stereo for instance) and a lens cover.
What I want from nokia now is just.. release the damn thing. Either this or the E52 or E55. They are all taking forever. After all this wait they better come with pristine firmware and not the crap alpha-grade OS sludge that always comes with my new Nokias (taking 4 or 5 firmware flashes before I can say "hey it's great after all").
seems to be a good phone from its specification rest can be ensure when it comes to hand
Can anybody tell me whether outlook work in this mobile i mean E71 or not?
How is the camera clarity???
I think it ws nice time with Nokia E71.. nw Nokia E72 is with more specs like 5MP, & 3.5mm Jack, its really gr8 addition i want to try ths one..
I think the features your after are avialble on the special limited edition chiefly brisketed Pastrami red version of the E72 which should arrive instore 2moro just in time for your birthday, aren't you a lucky young fellow.
P.S. dwighty approves this special pastrami edition of the E72
P.P.S. Pastrami is a chiefly brisketed cut of beef seasoned with herbs and spieces
my birthday is coming up & i am thinking of spoiling myself by getting this lovely nokia.
I was wondering if this phone has a trackball?
i like trackballs.
i like rolling the trackball over my nipples, do you think that will void my warranty?
I also find my trackball handy when i wanna roll out my chiefly brisketed pastrami.
i like pastrami.
I think no more difference between E 71 and E 72. GPRS doesnot work at 100 kbps. Specification should be change. The avarage practical speed of GPRS is 30 - 50 kbps.

Anonymous, 07 Jul 2009A trackball is probably more prone to mechanical failure. Plus not as ipodishly cool. I've had... morei agree that track ball can be prone to failure, but by simply looking at the ratio of no of phones using track call to optics is quite in fav. Though the early videos on youtube show that the UI has been modified to make the optical navi to feel like a touch phone only diff being gesturing on the optical key. Though none of the videos show the performance on browser. I think it should have recieved a upgrade in ram also 128 for business phone seems a bit low.
It's realy great phone, but lacks irda 4 universal remote n xenon flash 4 photo. I still use n95 n n82 but i want qwerty keyboard. :-(
is it just me or is the interface quite, erm, dull? the berry bold interface look fantastic! why cant this be similar?? sigh, still the better spec makes it a more usable phone. i guess..
I just hope the GPS is reliable and fast, with apps like McGuider and TomTom. Maybe more effective than E71s?
Also I plan to use full system encryption so that better be reliable and fast... two of the best E features along with the nice calendar.

Very slow, unreliable, unsafe. If you want to control devices with your cell phone, I admit it can be handy but in most cases you can do the same with a really cheal All4One universal remove.
No IR probably sames some space and weight.

Plus not as ipodishly cool. I've had a Nokia 7110 with a nice roller and well, it was handy but they didn't seem to last long.
The optical might be a better choice. Batt drain should be minimum. I really need this fone asap.
Anonymous, 07 Jul 2009hi i m using 5800 and ifone 3g i want to change both of them which 1 shud i buy You seem to have a thing for high end.. If you wish to carry Hi-Spec phones, go for N97 and Samsung M8910 Pixon12 will be worth.
and for ur music u get get the 5730 XM with slider keyboard, the keys seem more comfy as they are larger and wont give u sore thumbs. You will hv to wait a bit for both.
Why does nokia provide features that will again impact the battery usage. They could have provided a track ball which would be more energy efficient compared to a Optical Navi Key.
And it could replace the entire D-pad and provide good support for all Platforms like games, web and application. I think they should really think of a phone with a track ball.
Sandy Lee, 06 Jul 2009Hi! Is very good phone, it's sexy, beautufil!hi i m using 5800 and ifone 3g i want to change both of them which 1 shud i buy
Beautiful phone, but why no infrared?? It's great to have IR at least for the fun of IR remote.. and still no scratch resistant screen, you will end up not loving your phone as much as you used to because after 2 months there will be a lot of tiny scratches on the screen, i have the same problem with my E71
I am currently using the Nokia E71 and I cannot say anything bad about it and the features are unbeatable. I use it for my work and personal stuff. Alot of great softwares for the E71 good thing that they share the same OS. No problem with me transferring to this phone when this comes out. I just cant wait for this phone to released.
