Create a Symbian-like launcher and place it on top of a newer OS like Windows (or Android)! :) This will keep the phones Nokia-user-friendly and at the same time, take advantage of the Windows or Google ecosystem.
It's the same way Samsung uses Touchwiz UI which they also used on their own Bada and feature phones. It keeps people familiar with the way the brand is used.

I'm surprised to see my Lumia 520 outperform my Note 2 in terms of smoothness. It's not about beefed-up specs, it's about optimization. My Nokia Lumia 520 has a weaker processor than my Note 2, yet in terms of smoothness, it beats the Note 2 hands down. WP8 I isn't a bad OS, it's very good but at this moment, it lacks a lot of features. Android, on the other hand, has been out for a long time and that's why it's more mature than WP8 but there are some fields where it gets trashed by WP8. Battery life of Android phones are shit, 80 percent of malwares are on Android, Lags and crashes, Google spying on user data, Android OS eats a lot of data, too many crap applications in Google Play and a lot more. Nokia Lumia 520 is my ideal phone for its fluidity and battery life. I'm just waiting for WP8 to reach its maturity. It's just Microsoft is way too slow.

Have you ever wondered why all of the Android devices are quad cores. The simple answer is that the operating is very badly optimized. Android is a mess ... you can't say that an android device runs smoothly because it doesn't especially a dual core. If you look at most of the benchmarking software for smartphones you will see that dual cores of phone that have different operating system (other than android) outperform by a significant amount quad cores like the note 3 ... this is not acceptable in any means.
I have tried a low end Lumia and can say that I was impressed with the smoothness of the OS, even though I have an S3 with a custom bloat free android version that is very optimized but the way windows 8 runs on low end hardware is impressive, sure you can't drag a widget onto the screen but in my opinion I would rather have a smooth and reliable OS on any phone than a very customizable mess that the only way it can run smoothly is by increasing the hardware speeds.
People though have different opinions but I believe that a great phone deserves an optimized OS ... I'm glad Nokia never made an Android phone because quite frankly the way android runs I do not think that it deserves a phone like the Lumia 1020, however I'm also disappointed that they have never made another MeGo phone because the N9 is brilliant but what can you do.
use "moliplayer" application to play any type of videos saved either in memory card or in phone memory of wp8 devices. this is the best video player for wp8 devices.
The phone is very classy, elegant. The camera is awesome and the os is very smooth.Filled with useful apps not like the bundal of one thing at once.
I agree with whoever said Windows phone is a bad OS. It's way too restrictive and can't match up to Android in terms of features. I love Nokia hardware but this OS is simply a half baked OS with nothing good. You can't pirate apps, can't browse your files, no native video call support, no forward option in IE, can't save downloaded files, no hacking. I would love to own this phone only if Microsoft cracks WP8 and make it open source like Android.
next year please upgrade the resolution atleast 1080p at 5inch with small body footprint make LG G2 as a good example, who knows probably next year flagship phones of other big oem's might release 4k resolution after such display was introduced here at gsmarena. upgrade to quadcore processors more rams and storage and storage flexibility.and please nokia, remove that 4 edges its not good at the hands. capitalize on the bump at the backcase, make the thickness flat out all the way, by let us say putting larger battery, it would probably make sense. hope Microsoft would ready this.
Aadrian, 23 Nov 2013Not sure what you mean excatly but I haven't seen anything like that in my 1020's screen. Or m... morewhat do you mean the dark spots when you take a picture??oh yes ,i also encuonter that in my 925 specially in lowlights ...but i dont know ,but i think this is an issue to pureview tech...but pure is really awesome..
An excellent product in regards to hardware. Win 8 mobile is not to satisfactory. The wireless charging does not work correctly as the connectors of the charging back do not fit into the connectors on the phone. This is useless and the Nokia Lumia 920 is so much better in this regard. The camera is outstanding good in quality but than it is Zeiss and that is the best. Nice phone all-together but unfortunately lacking a good Operation System.
I believe, that the Nokia Lummia Phones are very classy and up to dat. I like them... and its very applicable to my every day activities.. :)

But if both phones have it, than it might indeed be something AMOLED related.
