I have some inconvenience situation regarding My LUMIA 1520.
After Phone FIRMWARE update and install some programs for hand writing (Papyrus), my device has obtained the black thin line on the right side of the screen.
I did my best in order to remove this line, BUT all my activities did not rich the success.
I even remove all installed programs, no results. HARD RESET was the final chance, but no progress.
The BLACK THIN LINE (almost invisible for others) is still presented at the right side of the screen. (From the top to the bottom, strike line)
Is this BUG, or something wrong with my device, I have no idea.
FIRMWARE UPDATE 1028.3562.1402.XXXX is placed on NOKIA site.
DIDI SOMEONE UPDATE LUMIA 1520 to this firmware and receive the same problem?
What should I do? Wait for official update for 8.1 or…?
Thanks for your patient and waiting for some responses.
Best regards from TBILISI.GEORGIA

Please I am planning to buy the Lumia 1520,but I want to know from those who have bought the phone whether it came with pouch and wireless charging mat or not?.
I think this is a good phone in terms of Battery life but it has given me a bit of problem, because all the sms to come to one thread even if it is for different numbers. For example if I saved two numbers for one person I don't know which number am sending to from the thread. I think is a disadvantage and Nokia/Windows need to look into it.

If your looking for a windows phone then yes the 1520 in my opinion is brilliant but please go to a phone shop and use it before you decide to get one! (you may have already done this) like wise read as many reviews as you can before you decide.

I haven't used any windows phones yet.. is there any application to hide both videos and pictures?? Just like android.. I'm not a die hard fan of applications but I need just few apps so that I can protect contents.. reply soon.. I'm still confused
Battery timing has improved. Go ahead with the update without any worries.
After reading comments from those with the 1520 upgrading to 8.1 it got me thinking. I'm no developer and neither do I tinker with my phone but after reading comments from people saying they love updating their 1520 to 8.1 I decided to take the plunge.
By accident I read user reviews for the Lumia 925( I think) Someone had posted a comment on how they updated their phone. I followed their instructions and now my 1520 is running 8.1 & I've gotta say its great. I was so pleased with the update I updated my wife's 1520.
There are lots of new features with the update and everything in my opinion works buttery smooth without any problems. I particularly like the Swype like typing, better than my previous android phone when it comes to recognising words. So if you have an hour to spare and willing to take the risk (it will void your warranty) I say go for it. Just a note.. Make sure sure phone is fully charged or being charged at the time of updating. You wouldn't want anything to happen to your phone would you.
I just bought Lumia 1520 2 days ago in India, mumbai. Just wanted to know when would there be an uprade from win 8 to win 8.1 available in India?! I see a lot of ui issue with this phone which I assume will b solved with a software upgrade. Pls guide
Well I got the Lumia 1520 2 days ago and all is well for me. haven't have those kind of issues that you're talking about. Although the apps are in BETA version and yes some of them requires you to buy it for full version but hey android and ios apps started that way. If I know you also wanted to release hell like you're doing right now back then. Android is lagging, apps are always freezing up those kind of issues. I changed from Iphone to android to windows (lumia) bec first. Iphone still have this loser battery life. I need to carry a charger or a powerbank just to survive the whole day. Although the Iphone is A OK to me still i need more juice than that. Then I had a Galaxy Note 3. everything was great, battery, apps, big screen. But the i really did not used all of its features. Hell Im not even using the stylus that comes with it. Then I bought Lumia 1520 very impressive battery, coming home from work and still have 40% battery after all day of heavy use. Very stable design. well they say Nokia = Rock and lastly very good camera but in the end of the day its still your preference that you need to follow. Im loving my Nokia Lumia 1520 even though its short comings in the app side.
AnonD-26322, 21 Apr 2014Enjoying 8.1 on my Lumia 1520. Improved Battery Life.Dear Sir How long you are getting the batterylife and how you feel about nokia lumia 1520 because i would like to buy it

I can't believe nobody has talked about the scr... moreHi Bob03,
I read your comments on the Nokia... and I am now convinced that I do not have to switch to windows phones now.
I was so encouraged to let go the "open source" operating system Android. Android is available on many phone makes and models and one can choose easily which phone suits him well (size, processor, color, brand...etc) while Windows phones are limited so far.
I thought much about iphones but I have a problem with their size... too small for me. Blackberiies...mmm.. not too encouraged.
When Nokia released the Windows 8 on the 1520, it really made me scratch my head. Although the device is too big :), I really considered it.
Referring to your post... Thank God I didnt buy it. I was not worried about the quality of the device, camera, stability, battery and other main highlights of the device. I was worried about these little things that make your life much easier when you use the phone... like the stuff you mentioned in your post and more. These are the little tricks that make me love or hate a phone... "CONVENIENCE".
I heard that you cannot have independent sound controls for the ringtone, music and others... This can also be something that annoys me...
My point is that these little important functions really make a difference for me... I mean something like the back button for the explorer is dammmnnnn important. The way it is done totally destroys the "multi-function" theme of the device.
I really wanted to find a somehow more secure alternative to the androids and was on the edge of buying the 1520.. I was looking for functional disadvantages for the 1520... and here you are... telling me that digging deeper in the details of the functions, the system is still not mature.
Thank you for your post and I will listen to you. I would give more time for windows to make their system more user friendly on the phones. (maybe Nokia will also reduce the size of the phone a little bit... somewhere around the size of the Note).

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!! BUYER BEWARE!!
I can't believe nobody has talked about the screen sensitivity issues??!!! I am on my second 1520 and cannot be more upset with this unit..
I first purchased this phone because of the great layout, feel, size, and display. I absolutely love the idea of this phone and I REALLY want to love it, however...
As I was walking out of the store after my purchase I noticed without touching the screen it would jump straight to the Bing search page. And yes I know the magnifying glass button on the bottom of the phone is a shortcut and no I was not touching that. Without being sure what the issue was I figured I would look into it when I got home. As I started diagnosing the issue the screen would literally skip all over the place and shudder around the home page faster than I could ever use my finger, just glitching out without me even touching it. I did change the sensitivity to "Normal" from "High" and it did nothing.
I brought the phone right back to the store the next day and they gave me a new one ( you have 14 days from purchase with AT&T to return or exchange the item, if you want out you have to pay a restocking fee ), the issue happened so frequently it started jumping around right in front of the salesman. So we loaded up another 1520 with my account info and tested the screen out, all seemed to be good. Until...
About a month later I am sitting here now with the same issue. SUUUUPPPPPEEEERRRRR frustrating giving a phone a chance that needs any help it can get to compete in a market of smart phone giants like the Iphone and Android devices. I gave Nokia and Windows a chance to change my mind from just conforming and getting what is proven to work... an Iphone or Android.
Besides the fact that you cant even get GOOGLE MAPS! You are forced to use either Bing maps or AT&T apps which both are sorry excuses for mapping systems. The AT&T navigation shut down after 5-10 mins of inactivity ( unless you open the phone and touch the screen to wake it up and prove you are still interested in using it, the directions will shut off and you will lose your route and have to start all over ). The Bing maps gave me a route ( on more than on one occasion ) that sent me north to another state then back south to my destination. Its a 2.5 hr route it told me the fastest route was 5.5 hours and the route zig zagged into another state for absolutely no reason.
Google and Apple are on a mission to make Nokia and their Windows based systems obsolete by not allowing certain apps and functionality that they endorse to be available and/or usable with Nokia/Windows' devices.
Pretty much if you like your "Apps" do not get a Windows phone. No Google Maps, Godaddy, Payment Collecting Solutions, Paypal, and pretty much anything usable and popular. My mind was blown when I found Chase Bank had their app available. And if you do happen to find an app that you like or want to use, the user interface's are terrible!
If you like using the internet think again with Nokia and Windows, you get one browser, Internet Explorer. Doesn't sound too bad right? Wrong. There is no back for forward option, you must look in your "recent" history to get anywhere besides the page you are viewing. You can try to use the back arrow on the bottom of the device, but if you were using more than one app or program on the phone while using the internet it will just take you back to the last screen you were looking at, not the internet page. So say you are in Internet Explorer looking at a page, you then click a link and go to a new page. Now suddenly you have to use your phone, messaging, or say... calculator. After you are done you then go back to browsing the internet on the last page you left, if you were to click the back arrow button at the bottom of the device, it would take you to the last program you used, the phone, messaging, or calculator and not the previous webpage. You must go into "recents" and find the page by domain that you were previously looking at.
This makes browsing sometimes impossible because while looking at your history you can only see the first part of the domain and not the unique name of the page that is usually described further down the domain name. So if you were browsing a certain website and looked in your recents, they would all look the same because only part of the domain name can be shown due to space constrictions, so if you were looking at http://www.ebay.com/sporting goods/jackets/columbia you would only see http://www.ebay .c. It becomes a guessing game deciding which link is the one you are looking for.
You can try to download other browsers but they are all just as terrible. Most want you to purchase or upgrade to a pro version for full usage and functionality.
One last thing, you can create a tile on the homepage for your photo albums. So you can easily and quickly access you photos, great idea... except your private photos run as a slideshow on the tile itself. So anybody can pick up your phone and immediately see alternating photos from your albums. I have not found out a way to choose a photo for it to display permanently or to turn off the slideshow feature entirely and just have a solid color, if there is it is NOT easy to find.
I am not sure how Nokia and Windows think they are going to hide these issues with their phones. Honestly I love the feel, the look, the display.. and thats about it.
I wanted so badly for this to be my solution for a phone. I was very happy when it did work, so happy I convinced myself I didn't need all those apps I was used to having. Now reality has sunk in. Screw Nokia, screw Windows, and screw AT&T (had to throw that one in). I am sick and tired of shelling out all of my hard earned money for this new technology and getting burned almost every time ( recently got burned on a super expensive Sony Laptop, has crashed 8 times in 6 months, Windows 8 is largely to blame). These big companies want nothing to do with helping their customers and/or fixing these wide spread issues. I'm done.
