I'm an HTC user recently purchased a Nokia lumia 800, still boxed used for about a week reverted back to my HTC simply because Nokia 800 does not support tethering... WP7 is OK but still playing catchup.
I bought 800 two months ago basically its ok, updates and now good battery life,
but the question? Seems all 7.5 mango phones will not be updated to Apollo,
Same as my Android phone no updates, so is it wise to buy any windows phone until Apollo?,will that be out of date on release? No updates?, ,might as well buy Nokia. n9 at
least its getting updates and backup, and its a one off, back to Symbian 808?.

balaji, 18 Apr 2012hi to all.Am using lumia 800 for past 3 weeks.am enjoying the phone like anything. Its pleasure... morewell done for having a lumia 800 that delivers the advertised battery life.
my Lumia 800 may be my first Windows Phone, but plenty of other people, including people who have prlenty of previous experience with WP devices- are reporting battery issues...
maybe this is a problem that is affecting only certain batches... but that doesnt mean that the problem is due to the affected people not having enough experience with WP devices.

Nokia made a mistake by launching LUMIA 900,without sorting out the issues of LUMIA 800.There are many issues to deal with
2.multiple selection option is not there,it is hard each time selacting one by one only to delete all..
3.mobile gets hotttt when u use it for 15-20mns..u can't even play games continously as ur mobile becomes red hot by 30mns.
4.Nokia promised for tethering update..now it went under clouds after launching lumia 900.
Nokia which is a reputated mobile manufacturer would hav launched LUMIA 800 properly by dealing with all the issues.
I am feelin lik i wasted 500 bugs of my earning jus by buying it.

Does anyone know if you could shorten them or turn them off?
Android is a little disappointing that transitions are on or off with no fast vs detailed/slow option. Transitions are great with using a new phone but I have mine turned off now and you get used to it very quickly.
Sorry for going a bit off topic :)
I played with this phone today. Why is so much of the UI white background when the phone is AMOLED?
WP does not work to well with a 3.7" phone. So much of the top and bottom are big print and menus that you have very little screen left when viewing messages.
I liked the way the screen was so striking though. You would have thought it was a placebo demo unit with a sticker as a screen until you press something and it moved.
Is the screen pentile like smaller AMOLED Samsung models?
Yes, is smooth and fast... but is quite complicated phone, somemore the phone cant check data usage and the clock will never show as AM/PM on the main screen even on the menu application... is a bit hard to use if nokia do not upgrade a setting for check data usage
Can u tell me guys i m going to buy a smart fone so which is the best. i hav 3 options, 1 lumia, 2 iphone 4s, 3 sony experia mini pro.
plz give me suggetion
In terms of completing the certain tasks, this phone is faster than Android,iOS or any other mobile OS..recommended!
I would steer clear of this phone untill Nokia sort out the issue of battery life...
I bought my lumia 800 in december, and with each update that is meant to help sort the issue/s related to the battery life... the battery life gets lower and lower... at the moment im down to a max of 20 hours battery life (if im lucky) and thats with wifi and bluetooth turned off, email sync set to only update manually, screen brightness at its lowest setting, and no background apps running
it is a well constructed phone, and the only problem i am continuing to have is the battery life...
and Nokia customer support have been absolutly useless throughout.
but untill this issue is sorted, i wouldnt suggest anyone take a gamble on it
