I'm not a geek so my opinion should count for the novice user. I really like my 920 after a week however;
There should be a wav. file transcriber. I can't listen to the voice mails sent to me in wav format. Duh?
I would like to record voice reminders for my appointments.
No voice recorder built in.

Awesome phone.
I had my first Lumia 920 when they first came out - unfortunately, I managed to smash the unbrakeable screen.
I briefly experimented with a "large" Android based phone but have come back to the Nokia.
I love the Windows Phone 8 GUI - It's just unbelievably smooth. The screen is crystal clear and is visable even in bright sunlight.
The App store isn't exactly as full as other platforms but it has some of the "esentials" ie Facebook & Twitter + The camera and apps that are available are second to none.
I have a few gripes (the first two apply to all Win 8 phones);
Volume control controls everything at the same time, so turn down your music and the ringtone volume drops :-(
Unable to set customised text notifications other than the built in sounds although Ringtones + Alarm tones can be set to what you want.
Large files taken with the video camera seem to get corrupted when trying to transfer them to the PC.
I've learned my lesson. This new phone has a screen protector and soft skin case - I'd advise anyone to do the same (whatever phone you choose)

It freezes all the time. Its stupid. You don't get apps, like instagram, candy crush, and i thought you would be able to. Wouldn't recommend for a social phone. Good for work.

Update the minor things in Lumia 920 that annoys users like me.
1. VOLUME CONTROL - it would be better if the volume control isn't universal. It would be nice to have separate control for ringing level, music player, video player, and applications.
2. NOTIFICATION / STATUS BAR - it would be better if the top of the screen if we can see the battery meter, signal strength, etc... instead of just seeing the time only and not swiping down just to see the battery meter and stuff every now and then.
3. CAMERA - Is there anyway you can put it in AUTO mode every time we use the camera. Sometimes I do forget that my setting is always in NIGHT MODE. It would be great if it's in AUTO mode every time we open or use the camera.

Great phone but i have had issues. It has self-rebooted several times and has frozen a dozen times or so.

it's a great phone, WP8 is perfect and the Nokia hardware is also perfect. I have no problems with this phone, hope the new update will be there soon so WP8 will be even better. it's an awesome phone, never back to android again. Í'm here to stay with WP8 and Nokia. Three of my relatives bought a lumia too, two 920's and one 620. my co-workers will go for either the lumia 920 or the 925 when it's available, depending on when it's available and my wife has a HTC 8S which is awesome too. And it's now cheaper here. I think WP8 is gaining marketshare and users, due to the fact the OS is just good. Not perfect, but good, and gets better every update. that's why a lot people gofrom android to wp now. Hope to use this Phone for at least one year then I will look what other device Nokia brings.

new_920_user, 05 Jun 2013I have been using 920 from past 18 days and it freezed twice and battery gets hot when used ov... moredual core especially those quadcore ones, i haven't heard of any phones that doesn't heats up quickly nowadays nor battery last a whole day. why don't you just buy a motorla maxx phone if you want a phone that will last you the whole entire day of usage.

Is there anyway to solve the persistent heating problem ??? Its starts to get EXTREMELY HOT with the usage of random apps especially whatsapp and Skype. This problem is the biggest setback to Lumia 920 ! Any input is welcome ..
