does it comes with office communicator in itself like some other nokia devices or we would have to get it from somewhere??
I dont get it why would anyone choose a closed source OS with an ugly looking phone, with unrealistic color contrast captured by its camera, 1.5ghz dual core cpu, no sd slot over an open source and much more popular OS like android, with a quad core 1.4ghz, oled screen, with actual sd slot and hilariously even though its packing almost twice as much computing power than that closed source gadget it also manages to outlast it in battery.
Granted the lumia might have a bit better sound quality, but its far from premium sound quality and that alone is not even close to make up for the fact that its specs are just outdated since the first day this "flagship" phone released.
Nokia did some stupid things while designing phones in Symbian era, i guess they didnt change at all.
how do you set your own message tone, there seems you cannot do it, can you do it with the portico update?
nokia going windows was fine, but!!!! I also think dropping meego was a huge mistake....
I was referring to the new advertised technology that Nokia are using in their handsets to gain recognition and to compete at a higher level against the other major competitors on the market.
The overall Lumia 920 sales figures will reflect what the customer thinks of the merchandise, it's early days yet as the phone has only been out for short of 2 months.
Yes there are a lot of freebies on offer with Nokia that you don't get with Apple iphones, having owned Apple computers I don't see anything new in owning one of their phones, I find there is nothing special about them.
As for Android, there's a lot of 'custom' choices an owner can have which makes owning one of their devices a little more interesting, but Android is a complicated operating system, but has many many great free apps on offer.
I found the Windows enviroment on a mobile phone easy to navigate, no complications or headaches.
If Nokia developers can learn from Android and take what makes the Android phones popular ie lots of free apps and custom settings, the Lumia will be a great device in the future, it has a lot of potential.
I don't think my review was boring...I think it was realistic in terms of me having used the device as a 1st hand owner / consumer. We can all read the great reviews and specifications this phone has on this website and others. No-one can take that away from Nokia and what they have produced.
That's what prompted me to buy on in the 1st place.
I don't see the point in repeating all the 'good' topics / points about the phone when they've already been covered on the main specification listings on this website and others. That's what prompts the customer to make their purchase on.
There just seems a lack of support and choices in customability / apps for the Lumia at the minute. If there was as much for the Lumia as the Android devices, this phone would be a top seller.
I was quite hoping someone was going to reply with a solution to the minor points I'd picked up on, but again it's early days.
AnonD-106478, 28 Jan 2013As for the 'hype'...it was all about knocking Samsung / Apple off the top of the phone ratings... moreBy "phone ratings" you mean in sales? I don't think how much the device has sold necessarily has anything to do with how good it is. As I told you, this device gives much more options compared to the iPhone. (I didn't even count Office, free navigation app, free music streaming, etc.) but hasn't sold as much as iPhone, and that is irrelevant to the end user and the review you gave.
I agree that there are few weird shortcomings (like not having a separate volume control for ringtone and music) but again, the device is far from the original review you gave.
I feel you commented having an Android mentality. Just expecting a file explorer (which I haven't looked for, but I assume you can find an app for in Marketplace) gives me that vibe.
And no, I don't have any interest in arguing with you. Just felt like expressing what I think.
P.S. the iPhone is actually still more expensive despite lacking a lot of what I pointed out. So your review would have been better balanced if you counted all that positive stuff and didn't come up with downright "boring" to describe the device.
few thing that need to be fixed right away.dust come inside the camera lens and why not different volume controls.same volume for all
AnonD-50083, 28 Jan 2013I believe when you say it is over-hyped, you are comparing it to something. All these people w... moreAs for the 'hype'...it was all about knocking Samsung / Apple off the top of the phone ratings. Nokia haven't succeeded. They may have come up with some annotative ideas .Regardless of my opinion, there are many more similar opinions in this section that would also back up my view, whether we are the minority or not, even GSM arena itself has listed the negatives in a list on one of it's reviews of the phone. I personally found the phone lacking in some areas, that I had been familiar with on other handsets. I'm sure if Nokia take into account all feedback from owners they may remedy the shortfalls in the future, and if they do I won't hesitate to buy another Lumia 920.I haven't warned people from NOT buying one of these phones...you have taken my opinion out of context and you seem to be spoiling for an argument?
Do you actually own one of these phones?
I'm sure the reader and buyer will make up their own minds when buying. As for the owner being exhilarated....I think your going a little over the top on that one. It's an expensive mobile phone at the end of the day, that has good points and bad.
AnonD-106478, 28 Jan 2013I didn't mention the iphone.....There are many flaws with the Android operating system too....... moreI believe when you say it is over-hyped, you are comparing it to something. All these people who buy iPhones are satisfied with the very limited OS (in your view, I assume) and they are practically the majority. So when you warn people, try to make it less personal and opinionated and consider the needs of the majority.
The device is NOT AT ALL over-hyped for the needs of the majority; they would find it exhilarating. I am just saying your review of the device might appeal only to the very small minority of more technical users who thrive on playing and extremely customizing the device they own.

Except the device supports bluetooth file transfers, supports SD cards, mass storage mode, has a better display, a LOT better low-light photography, better video recording, much better sound recording (HAAC Rich Recording), NFC, wireless charging, better touch input, better social network integration, better messaging, and a more coherent OS compared to Android.
Perhaps it strikes you as "boring" because you can't lose yourself in menus after menus of settings maze, custom launchers, rooting, a la Android.
Let's just say it wasn't your cup of tea, and leave it at that.
Lot of media publicity, hype and anticipation.Eventually I bought one when they came out. Spent money (£40) on getting it unlocked to the network I am on. I have to say after using it for 3 weeks I find the Lumia 920 boring and limited to what you can do with it compared to a Samsung Galaxy Note for example. The lumia's app range is small/ limited compared to other smartphones, and apps are expensive, many useless free apps aren't worth bothering with.It struggles to play all 'media movie files', there is NO file manager to browse and delete files from with in the phones directory.Connecting to a APPLE MACBOOK for example is difficult, although there is a Itunes App store app, but you have MAC OS X10.7 installed, which is pretty basic. Alternatively you can connect the phone in windows and it appears as a USB drive which is good.I believe you cannot hack or put custom roms on the Windows Lumia range operating system, so your stuck with what you get when you take it out of the box from the start. No 3rd party app store programs either, like the Samsungs 'Blackmart or Panda'. Also you have to download all the apps from the Nokia store. The camera is good, but not that good, nokia maps is good. You can't personalize the main menu screen, its big or small tiles only! There are many downsides to this phone and for the price tag I would have expected a lot more for my money. A shame because the phone feels a quality build when it's in your hand too! Having previously owned the Lumia 800, I would say there isn't a lot of difference between the 2 phones. I look forward to selling it, I'm not impressed with it.
My next phone

I've had my Lumia 920 for a week now. I love it! The best phone I've ever owned by far!! Far, far, far superior to Apple iphone 5. The pictures are absolutely stunning, and the design and user interface excellent! No complaints whatsoever!
dr.rajesh yadav, 27 Jan 2013battery backup very poorThe big drawback of window phone is that,no download task folder in browser, difficult to download any file ,there is no way to explore mass storage and external memory,no detail option in videos library,NFC and Bluetooth doesn't work for videos and alot more,i am using nokia Lumia 820 &920
