This is awesome phone, but one looking at it and reading comments must agree, that only weak part of this phone is Windows system. Nobody is complaining on HW part and fact is that it is almost perfect. All complaints are coming for SW part.
Would it be Symbian phone, Nokia could maybe regain its smartphone share back.
There was nothing wrong with Symbian, it is still wonderful system (I own Nokia 808 Pureview) and people just wanted bigger screens and faster processors.
I enjoy true multitasking in my N808 every minute of usage.
For WP we are only hearing what is not possible, what we can not do. Some people argue, that they are not using all possibilities of phone so it is OK. But what is better? To have all possibilites in phone and not use it as average user, or to not have them and be restricted sometimes?
I think WP will be fail for Nokia, because it is system which is simply not acceptable for really big part of users. And with addition that it is restricted, target population for this phone is very small.
Microsoft is not giving to Nokia any special privileges, you can buy phone with WP8 from other producers. So Nokia shouldn't burn all bridges and continue with Symbian on same HW. Customer should decide which OS they will buy and I can guarantee that it would be one with Symbian which would win...

I noticed that the at&t lte bands include the 1700/2100 frequencies. I wonder if someone will be able to modify the modem to enable use on t-mobile's hspa+ network...they did it with the original galaxy note...one can only hope

Yu need Zune and a pc to put your stuff on it, and its not a simple operation thats done so fast. You cannot even download your own stuff to it without going through PC and Zune.

I dont see whats better than iOS here.

WP is not a standalone system, it requires a Windows PC.

By the way, does this phone have a matte style for the black and white or just the glossy one? Please answer my question. Thanks! :)

EDIT: That said, I'm also taking into account some WP8 features that we naturally dont have in use just yet due to the OS not being released yet, but are included in WP8. WP7 has been gradually opening up since it's original release and WP8 will naturally be the most open WP has been this far.

Why did Nokia not include RADIO in such a pricy device?
Nokia acutally has forgot that we already have limited music options in Windows Phone OS and absence of radio would make people change their minds.

AnonD-75470, 16 Oct 2012hardware on nokia 920 is outstanding but os is not so or nothing in front of android. the only... moreIt's just an entirely different focus there.

iPhone is extremely popular and it lacks a lot of features and tbh isnt capable of much. However it's still like the most succesful smartphone ever made.

Most normal customers do not need the capabilities of Android. Android is the most PC-like OS in smartphones (if ignoring Symbian due to lack of new support), but that right there has it's downsides. Most smartphone users do not have use for even quarter of Android's capabilities.

WP only "lags" behind Android if you are a huge poweruser that truely uses Android to it's full potential which most dont. If not, WP is more fluid, more user friendly and intuitive OS. It's all about ones needs. iPhone and Android present the extremes.. Android being the most capable but the most clumsy and least fluid OS. iPhone is at the other extreme with being really fluid and fancy, but lacking most functionality non- Apple products have. Then there is WP8 coming up which I see as the middleground. Not as capable as Android, but not as helpless as iPhone. Not as fancy and fluid necessarily than iPhone (i think WPs design is nicer than iOS though, but opinion), but is far more intuitive and user friendly and fluid than Android.

There is no "best OS" or a "perfect phone". You should evaluate what are your needs and things you want and choose accordingly. I see WP cater far better to an average user than iPhone or Androids. I personally come from Symbian and while I'm sure I'll miss being able to do like ANYTHING on my phone, most of the time I had no use for all the capabilities, so I'm happy to get an intuitive OS that works like a thought this time. But I'm still not willing to trade away all features and functionality and get myself an iPhone (several other reasons for that too, though).

Nokia is at last back in action by delivering such high end phones..... lumia 920 has some of the best hardware configurations...better than the cheap plastic samsung s3.. more better looks than the age old i phone... only drawback is that it has a not so famous windows os... but i think windows is not too bad. i will surely go by this phone. Currently i use samsung galaxy note 2. and am bored of android. i want something new like windows live tiles. Nokia delivers quality Products which to some extent samsung fails. No doubt about apples quality. but their old design dosent gives a feeling of using latest iphone... only streching size isnt enough.
