From my experience personally I think that apps on background don't drain the battery as they do on android. I don't know when M8 will be released, maybe you should wait a little more. But remember that M8 isn't Lumia so you will miss Lumia apps... Hope I helped!

I read some body are angry from lumia 930 battery! is it true?because I'm planning to buy one for my bro... if lumia 930 battery is weak I'd rather wait for one M8 windows phone.I red in some web one M8 WP has better battery and in lumia 930 and one M8 face to face competition lumia wins the camera and screen(but M8 screen is good enough and camera so but lumia is better)
from other side one M8 WP has more battery,better front camera,excellent sound and support sd card.also one M8 WP has Wi-Fi direct and infrared.
totally both are excellent in OS and in world and have amazing specs and os and apps but...
and the problem about M8 WP is the releasing date. when would appear in markets???????
