N78 is a good-looking phone. It's very neat. When the keypad light is off you won't notice anything but the glossy surface. Sound quality is the best. Can't think of anything better. Picture quality of the camera is excellent. GPS navigation is great. You get a satellite fix in less than a minute and signal never loses once you're connected. Display is so bright, colors are sharp. Battery life is the best. Heavy use lasts the battery a whole day, in moderate use it's 3 days. User interface is very nice. FM transmitter and naviwheel are fun features of this phone. You can surf the internet using WiFi and even faster HSDPA. Everything is great about this phone. I can't think of any downside. Well it's prone to fingerprints but I can get away with it. It's just so stylish. I love this phone a lot.

Anonymous, 31 Aug 2008In response to my earlier comment about the physical attraction of the nokia n79, I may have j... moreBare in mind that NOKIA will not allow N79 to cost more than the N82 making the N79 VERY affordable, 5mp camera wont make it expensive since very soon the 8mp camera phones (Samsung Innov8 and SE C905) will be out and so 5mp cameras wont be in much demand. Hope you get what i mean.

But because i'm in Australia, the n79 hasn't arrived yet. I'm sure because of its larger array of specifications and larger megapixeled camera, it will be as expensive as the n96 or n85 when they both arrive here too. I just felt that the nokia n78 was stunningly more handsome. But i agree that the n79 has the better specs. Good day to u sir

N78 looks "gay" as well, and that was said by one of my friends who's a girl when i recommended it to her. IMO rather get N82 or wait for N79 both are better and priced similarly to N78. Funny how some N78 users were bashing the N81 yet the N78 is actualy the one in the WORST position. Im very glad i didnt jump in to get this lemon.

buy N82 if u r after top notch camera quality, GPS, average music, and not so loud speakers, not so bright screen, great build quality, n TV out
buy n78 if u r after FM transmitter, slick S60 UI 3.2 transition n effects, average camera n music (in loudspeakers), above average quality in headsets, best screen quality amongst em, GPS, navi-wheel, n not so good build quality (btw, i can offer u 15K for N78 with official 1 year nokia warranty [im serious])
buy N81 8GB if u r after d best music quality whether by loudspeaker or headset amongst em (only N91 can defeat it and 5310XM trails behind it in headset output quality), real landscape n-gage gaming, slide form factor, bonus S60 UI 3.2 effects found on N78, navi-wheel, n good build quality (but i recommend u to buy N81 2GB instead, as microSD cards will soon hit d 32GB capacity)

Whatever N78 can do the N79 can do better. :-) and N79 will be around the same price, wait.

Helo. Im a 5700 user. I want to buy a new phone. Im choosing am0ng N81 8GB, N78 at N82. Here in SM Northedsa, N78 is only 16k, N82 is 19k, and N81 8GB is 15k. I want N81 8GB becos Im a music adDict and it has a large memory already, no need to buy an extra mem0ry card. It already has 3g, wifi, 2.4" screEn, naviwheel, stereo speakers, 3.5mm jack, ngage and becos it's nseries, the galLery is a r0tating 3D gallery unlike 5700 w/c is only plain gallery. I think N81 8Gb is the best buy 4 me. But I saw N78 and it's only 16k now, only 1k is the difference between N81 8Gb & N78. And N78 has a lot m0re fEatUres becos it has 3.2mp camera w/ Carl Zeiss optics & autofocus, VGA video, wifi , HSDPA, GPS, FM transmitTer, naviwheel, FP2. So Im realLy c0nfused. I cant dEcidE if i will go f0r N81 8Gb or N78. My c0ncern is h0w g0od is N78 as a music player, the s0und of speaker, w/c has better s0und in headset & speaker? I lyk the dEsiGn of N78 but they say that it's build is creaky and it's pr0ne to scratches. Im realLy c0nfusEd.

am thinking about buying N78, currently have a phone with winows mobile & love the fact that it syncs with Outlook so easily (contacts and calendar mainly) does the N78 do that without microsoft operation system? PS question is from oldie so please answer in simple easy to understand language!?!

talk about the camera superb in 3.2
radio signals are not weak as i read that in the comments that it is weak

Brad, 28 Aug 2008K well I bought my phone here in Hong Kong and I don't have the FM transmitter function cause ... moreFirst u need to check whether there is an antenna stick with your n78 back cover or not,if it does then it means ur device is come with the fm transmitter hardware is just the region are limiting your access to fm transmitter.
ok this is wat u need to do,first u need to change ur product code to asia pasific code (coz this should be suitable for u as u r from hong kong)using nss. (u can find n78 product code in the web
after u have change ur product code then reinstall ur firmware with nokia software updater.
once done ur phone fm trasmitter should be working.

i bought this and its simply the best 4 me. Everything works fine. U can get used to the keypad in few days. Only thing is its a bit slow...wen opening applications. But overall its a great phone

u guys kinda weirdo....what for u guys talk with loudspeaker?hving problem with ur ears?juz use the proper and normal way to talk hv a call.nobody wish to hear the dialogue u hving when u hving a phone call...proper and normal way plz

Brad, 28 Aug 2008K well I bought my phone here in Hong Kong and I don't have the FM transmitter function cause ... morethere's a version that's made in HK w/o GPS and FM Transmitter. It's a lot cheaper b/c of that, and no u can't just download it.

K well I bought my phone here in Hong Kong and I don't have the FM transmitter function cause there are laws here in HK that restricts the use of the FM transmitter function. But I live in Canada and there are no laws for that so is there anyway that I can download this feature onto my phone?

Anonymous, 27 Aug 2008Try Advanced Device Locks. Locks the Photo or Video Applications. Let us know if it works...My experience so far with n78 and security apps : SmartGuard can hide messages, and other things apart from multimedia. Callman and MediaSafe do not work after installing. FileLock and FileHide jar apps do not work. MobieGenie works well with this phone.
