Hi! If anyone's interested in a fully detailed N78 review (that I just couldn't post here due to its size :D), then go check ou http://mobilearsenal.com/review/nokia_n78_for_a_suv
coolio, 02 Jun 2008The n78 has the looks compared to the N82. The N82 is by far the ugliest N-serie http://www... moreUgly doesn't mean anything as long as the phone has the best performance. How about the black N82 one?

N78 uses a Freescale I.MX31 processor with clock speed at 369MHz. This is the standard processor today and is used by Nokia in their mid-range handsets like 6120 classic, 5700, N76, N81, etc., because it is less costly. N82 uses theTI OMAP2431 dual processor with clock speed at 330mhz. This is also used in Nokia's other high end handsets like N93/i, N95/8GB, and N96. This type of processor is more costly than the one used in N78 and the like. It is also responsible for N82's video recording 30fps frame rate and the 3D graphics accelerator.
can anyone state out differentce between n82 and n78 in cpu performance? more details more better.
Anonymous, 01 Jun 2008I don't like the N78. It's cheap-looking. I'd wait for the N95 8Gb's price to drop down. the lowest price n95 8gb will fall to is 583 us dollars.. u dont have to wait anymore to get the price going down.. thats why the n96 is coming.. n78 will hover at 415$ a few months later.. most probably during the n96 release..august
vijey, 01 Jun 2008I am interested in getting the N78 for its GPS finuction. Would like to know if the GPS functi... morethere is nothing wrong with the gps.. its on par with latest gps installed devices.. its a-gps which makes connecting much faster..
Just from looking at the spec sheets, it doesn't take to be a rocket scientist to realize that the N78 is a crippled version of the N82, with some added nice extras. N78's advantage over N82 is its more updated and latest OS version and some not-so-new and not-so-significant hardware additions. N82's advantage over N78 is its N95-ish hardware.
i think this is one of the best phones and i had lots of phones and you can more than see that i understand. its just awesome and simple
Is the GPS free for use in N78? I read from somewhere & it was stated only license for 14 days.
Can anyone confirm with credible source?
SUDHAKAR, 01 Jun 2008Except camera it is lower model than Nokia E51. E51 has Class 32 GPRS and N78 has only Class 1... moreAgain: there is no phone better than another: You can't make a video call with any Eseries actually! And this is something important for me...
E65 has a much lower processor: 220 MHz, this differs with me.
What bad for you might be good for me! And what's good for you maybe bad for me!
Do we all run after the same girl! No, why? Because we got different tastes, criterea and interests for god's sakes!
ganu, 01 Jun 2008i dont think that we should comapre N82 with N78
N82 is best then N78
(2)accel... moreActually, there is no phone better than another, because it all depend on the person, not the phone.
i don't need a xenon flash,
i don't need a 5 MPx,
i don't need a motion sensor,
i don't want a 3D accelerator, i am a hardcore gamer, mobile games won't satisfy me,
i don't care about the RAM since the mobile's performance is excellent,
100 MB of memory are not so different from 70 since there is a microSD,
TV-Output might be useful for me, but indeed, battery life is much more vital to me,
to me N82 is not good looking, N78 is much better.
So all in all, i just traded TV-Output for battery life, not only that, but N78 is cheaper (when it drops further it will be cheaper than N82), so definitely N78 is the best for me!
There is no "Best" mobile... People are different, that's why "surprisingly" mobile phones are different.

With price set aside, people who are torn between N78 and N82, you should consider this: N78 main focus is the software, it has a revamped, improved user interface. On the other hand, N82's main focus is the hardware i.e. 5MP Carl Zeiss-branded camera lens, accelerometer/motio sensor, dual processor, 3D graphics engine, etc.
I don't like the N78. It's cheap-looking. I'd wait for the N95 8Gb's price to drop down.
Hey... Does anyone know if the volume of the loudspeaker is very soft? i presently own a sony ericsson k800i and find my phone volume very soft. Is the volume of the loudspeakers very soft on the n78? is it as loud as the n73? is the sound quality good from the loudspeakers? i find the quality of sound from my k800i to be average only. thanks in advance. is the camera better than my k800i? k800i has a xenon flash though, without the xenon flash, is the camera performance still acceptable for night photos?
N78 also has 16.7million colours, all the newer Nseries do.
The N78 will have a longer battery life, better and faster user interface, better sound quality, better loud speakers, better smaller design, touchsensetive navi-wheel for faster scrolling, FM Transmitter, newer OS, better screen, better Java engine, newer Web browser etc. . . Than N82. The N78 is going to be one great Multimedia Computer, it's on par with the N82 in the JBENCHMARK scores. Cant wait to get my N78 in July =)
i dont think that we should comapre N82 with N78
N82 is best then N78
(3)5 mp with xenon flash
(4)16.7 million colors
(5)RAM 128 MB
(6)Internal mempry 100 MB
(7)Video recording VGA at up to 30 fps
N78 is good in only
(1)Fm transmitter (88.1 – 107.9 MHz)
(2)OS 9.3, S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2
but in N82 we can buy Fm transmitter from shop
