Nokia N79 - user opinions and reviews

i hv been using n79 for 10mths already and hv updated to version 31.002.53.1, but i find it running quiet slow when utilising the camera functions, recording & capturing stills.. can someone help to provide me a solution on this cuz apart of this prob i found this phone has all the qualities that i need.

Hello N79 users,
I have a small doubt regarding FM antenna of N79 ?
Do we need to connect headset for listening to FM stations ? OR does it have an internal antenna
Nokia India website says that 'Headset need to be attached'
So I can not listen to FM stations with just plugging in a 3.5 MM headphone socket (and must put the headset to receive FM stations?). Is my understanding correct?

Hi friends, can anybody tell me that how many entries are shown maximum in log section, I can see only last 20 numbers in log what can i do, remember I have already set the log setting to 30 days, and my handset hangs in every hour, is there any problem which i should consult the nokia care or it is normal? your valuable commants are welcomed.

Disappointing.
I swapped up my N82 for this phone, and i'm truly disappointed. It's true, the phone is a beauty, but at what cost?
The 5MP camera is a joke, it washes out colours in bright light and it oversharpens green tones when using flash, not to mention the dual led flash performance is brutal and leaves your night time photos pretty much unusable if the object is more than a meter away.
Texting on this phone is horrible compared to the N82. It is pretty much just a straight bar with the "1" and "3" buttons too close to the send and close buttons respectively. To make things worse, the buttons are relatively small. basically, texting is tough because the buttons are small enough to mis-press, there are no distinctions and are really close to the green and red buttons.
Overall, i would say this is a phone to avoid, especially if you currently use an N82 or a phone of similar caliber.

NEVER EVER CHOSE A SYMBIAN PHONE....
Read carefuly frndz m giving u this view after using alot of phones from nokia.

what acheap and small operating system, with 90% of apps having certificate problem and majorty of which nokia want u to purchase from their so called ovi store and n.gage arena even after you have paid a lot for a phone.. also the User Interface is very boring and conventional from years in nokia. now symbian OS and n.gage is being closed at end of this year(you can cnfirm this on gsmarena or from many sites giving you the latest news).
nokia is changing the OS from symbian s60 to symbian^1 and ^4 but with not so much change of application compatibilty, multimedia features and also the UI.
now wake up u ppl go for a bigger plateform like WINDOWS, MAC and ANDROID with extlmly attractive and lovely UI, looks, multimedia features, music, and speacialy touch screen cz its the age of touch screen nw. HTC, APPLE and SAMSUNG have made NOKIA very down from this point of view. nokia exeed only in durability and btry lifr which is also being coped by other menufacturers now.
finaly guys choose an htc/samsung windows mobile or iPHONE according to ur affordability, and u will c that what a little device can do..... it will change ur life and view about a phone with its pretty UI and the very bigger OS than this symbian.

Rehan, 19 Feb 2010i have updated my cell n79 today, n guess what i was shocked to know that there is no fm trans... moreI went to market, got flashed my n79, and i got back the fm transmitter option and now the phone is working well. Now I want to use wireless net on n79 via my Compaq 6720s Laptop's wifi adapter. Any suggestions? The OS is Xp Sp3. I use DSL connection to connect to internet via Lan wire. Now I want to use the built in wireless adapter to get internet access from built in LAN connection (on which internet is running). Then I want laptop's wireless adapter to transmit wifi signals which will be caught by my n79, so that I can run internet on N97 freely. :D
Any solutions will be most welcome.

But in my ... moreif u dont keypad lock ur phone the power saver is fine. if u want unlock ur phone with the password thing. dont keypad lock the phone coz if u do the power saver doesn last 4 lon...
