If you want an useful video light it has to be a Dual LED, Single LED's are useless, But there was no way to place a dual LED in already crowded arrangements (large sensor, Xenon Flash, and Flash capacitor (its big), amber LED for auto focus assistance). The low light video performance is good in N8 even without the Light thanks to the large sensor and Nokia's smart usage of Full sensor capability to do HD video.
Next Imaging Flagship will hit the market in 2012 with true zooming (Many people say true zooming means optical zooming but i guess it is going to be a developed version of the smart zooming) February may see some Meego announcement. Who knows what Nokia's Imaging team has got to deliver next.
I just found out that the Galaxy S and other Android phones do play .mpg files. I thought the N8 had the capability of playing most kinds of video and sound file types; especially something as common as .mpg.
why does nokia always give you a xenon flash but no led video light a bright video light like on the n86 would of made this phone complete but over all the best touch screen phone i c on the market when the software is updated it will be the best i mean firmwar update with better web browsing and better i want to buy one but the negatives change my mind i will wait till february nokia might bright out the successor to this n8 maybe 16 or 15 mega pixel with video light go nokia
oh, nokia
anytime i look at your updated products page, i feel so sad - no future for you
you are no more a matching fighter with SS,iphone, LG . . which are so creative and fast pace at eating your pie..
what have you been achieved lately ?
hi friends...htc desire beats blackberry,nexus google,nokia n8,annnndddd,,,iphone3g,4 also....awesome...i love my desire...watch youtube videos....compare n8 vs desire.....n.... sucks...
hi friends.....visit youtube and type....... (nokia n8 vs htc desire)(3parts).....and watch n8 way behind htc desire.....iam an android fan...im happy to own my htc desire and wildfire.... n....is crap...luv u all cya
hi,
i wanted to experience andriod and so bought samsung galaxy 3.
First of all a very bad phone, worst battery also.
I found symbiam to be better because of ease of use, sym 3 is very near to making the software touch optimised. It has drastically improved over s60. I think future updates should take care of it.

Where does USB debugging located in Android, is that a suitable place (locating at Applications settings rather than in Connection settings)? did you managed to find the factory restore in settings menu in Froyo (it changed it place throughout and finally vanished and you can only do it by entering recovery image, if i'm not wrong). How many times you have scrolled top and bottom the application menu to find the application after a fresh installation (I'm sure you may have done it many times and end up in frustration). Android or iOS (still application centric design not an Information centric or a hybrid design - a poor approach for a mobile OS) is not at all user friendly than Symbian
Battery performance is a critical factor for many users who depend on their Mobile phones for communication purposes, it really gain the priority when you make a design decision to go uni-body like in N8 (No swappable battery with a back cover)
Again Symbian is not dead, Look at the Symbian development path, Nokia has promised 5-6 major updates during next 18 months and it will definitely take Symbian to the next level of mobile OS and will be competitive with Android Ice cream/Jack fruit or anything that will be used by that time or iOS 5 or 6 or whatever. Every body (including Engadget) accept that Symbian is the most powerful mobile OS, They have No issue with the OS, only issue is with the UI (Avkon UI -Thats how we call it) and ya it is dead, and Nokia are moving to a new QT UI. Game has changed with the introduction of QT developer platform. Only thing still holding back developers is the app piracy level present in Symbian and I'm sure Nokia will fight Piracy, also with the renewed OVI store piracy rates has come down.
I'm not denying the fact that Galaxy/Nexus S are better performers in graphics, I'm saying N8 has no need to fight with it, and it offers a lot more to do with it rather than purely entertainment.you have agreed that N*'s graphic performance has beaten iPhone 4 right, So are you gonna claim iPhone 4 is a poor performer in graphics department? You wont right, So admit the fact.
I love the overall performance of N8 as a final product than concentrating on specific departments. if Nexus/Galaxy S's specific departments are Graphics and screen N8's departments are Camera and Media (720p HD video over HDMI, 5.1 Dolby digital plus, Play back of all common video formats natively, FM transmitter for Music play backs, traditional TV out to you NTSC or PAl systems Moreover USB on the Go for play back from USB removable storage devices Easy share of media contents - You wont definitely find another phone packing this complete media feature under the sky)
Do you want android, thats good (really its a capable OS) or do you want a complete value for money up to the last nickel you spent. Choice is yours.

furthermore, which developers are investing time and money into a platform dying quicker than liverpool football club?
also that rubbish about the hummingbird needing the GPU + CPU to produce 90m is absolute rubbish. also even if that were the case (which it isnt), it wouldnt matter as the CPU of the galaxy by far exceeds the one in the N8.
people are happy to comprimise battery life for performance

nick, 05 Jan 2011the nokia n8's broadcom GPU can render 32million trianges/second. impressive, faster than any ... moreOk dude, Nokia is a very old company and they still have some all values, for instance they emphasis the "PHONE" in the phrase Smart Phone, where as all others emphasis the "SMART". There is no point that throwing 90 million triangles/Sec and goes shut down when i stuck at a place and want it to make a call. There are compromises made Design Vs Performance, Performance Vs Battery Life, Features Vs Features and so many when designing a phone, and Nokia seems to have the better formula for a product. I don't think it will be a difficult decision for Nokia to add a world leading GPU and CPU on board in their top end smart phone, But they are trying to fight the limitations. They have their reasons for every single decision in N8 design, Why no Lens cover, ARM 11 680 MHz, No Video light, nHD resolution and so many thing. What is the point in trying to beat Galaxy/ Nexus S in graphic performance when already they have beaten a specialized gaming phone and a tablet instead of looking for better battery performance or multimedia performance.
Investing on Smart Zooming (or True zooming what Nokia likely call it) or 3D UI (iron man or minority report style) are better choices than investing on graphic performance (when they have achieved arguably a challenging level). There are so many things going on in Nokia in the smart phone race, and mostly they focus on developing useful and productive technologies rather than time killing or entertainment stuffs, thats why many people still love Nokia.
