N8 is amazing in everyway ! only let down is no live messenger :/
Wheez, 31 Dec 2010That's for the future, it'll still be a while until N8 will be classified as "low end" ;)really. i cant think of any fone to classify under N8. maybe iphone can go lower, coz of the restrictions it imposes on the users. But hardware and OS wise there is nothing under N8. Low res, extra weak processor, bad OS, how can anything possible be under it? And all those weak components come at a high price. Guess you can sell a Lada for 100,000 euro and it will still be a crappy car.
Compare an N82 to its contemporaries, its a very good fone. Compare N8 to todays competitions and it fails on as good as all accounts, and the xenon flash loses to the oldie N82. N8 is competing with its contemporaries and cant even outperform N82, how in H is dat a high end unit?
I advice everyone who have the chance to test an N82 to compare the flash filling to N8. N82 was constructed when nokia had a Finland mentality, a strive for quality and no flaws. N8 is constructed with what Nokia has leqarned from samsung. And what has Nokia learned from samsung? They learned that most users are too ignorant to mind flaws, samsung has always made flawed fones and still sold well, they learned that onli the engineers and enthusiasts will mind the flaws, the masses don care, throw in a few high specs as a consolation price (N8 cam) to get the attention away from the bad sides. It works, ppl are buying it and praising it as a good fone, but in a year we can come back here and most ppl will agree that N8 was a bad fone. Just like N97, the enthusiasm will cool off and we will see it for the cr@p it really is.
daniel, 31 Dec 2010No your wrong there, Meego is for Nokia's high end devices and Symbian is for Lower down the scale. That's for the future, it'll still be a while until N8 will be classified as "low end" ;)

Anonymous, 31 Dec 2010USA is the land of ideas. To make them becoming real they come to chinese have you been or seen Japan,Korea and dubi
plus why do you think always makes their own version of forign movies.......and you think usa is made of idea..they take them and try to convince people they where the first to make them since usa is always late with everything except with their own stuff like android and apple products
As for more general things, happy new year everyone!
Still having the phone since first ever release date and still loving it, wouldn't trade it for any other phone! Totally recommended!
azm, 31 Dec 2010Salam... Ya Ali, how many apps have u installed in your N8? the original internal phone ... moreApplications do not go to the C:/ memory that is around 180 mbs free. They go to the 16gb memory.
Anonymous, 31 Dec 2010i got a chance of using an N8 borrowed from a friend.

It could be that if it's some abit more random application that it can have a memory leak. I've had the N8 since first day it was available to customers in the world and I've never had it say that the memory is full. Then again I don't do totally senseless multitasking, but I never close the browser or well, anything from the background. I usually have some 7 things running on the background always.
I reset my phone every few weeks as a default, at least the restart clears memoryleaks if present and fixes other possible slowness or anything else. Think about a computer in active use that never gets rebooted or shut down, it'll slow down and stack useless stuff in the background.

i'm using the same multi-tasking things i usually do on my devices, but as i open my seventh app together with 6 already running on the background, i got a "Memory full! Close some applications and try again"
is there anyone with this kinda problem? or is this NORMAL as N8 is also a Symbian device? thanks

bhow, 31 Dec 2010so how can i change it from 9mp to 12 mp? where will i go??If you want to change your camera mode from 9mp to 12mp, just pinch your camera screen inward (it'll go from full screen to smaller view). You can again pinch outward to make it 9mp. You can also do this from option. Similarly, if you want to change your video mode from hd to normal, just pinch inward, to go back to hd again just pinch outward. You can also do that from option. Hope this little shortcut trick helps you all.
Keep N8-ing. Wish you a very Happy New Year.
mogul khan, 31 Dec 2010n8 users/lovers, just want to ask if the battery of our n8 is allowed to be fully drained? bec... more@Mogul Khan.
I suspected myself that if the battery runs completely flat, then you wouldn't be able to turn the phone back on again. This is only my opinion based on reports I've read about dead Nokia N8's, which Nokia has acknowledged and agreed to repair or replace defective units with out question. However, they said it was down to a manufacturing defect and would say no more.
To be on the safe side though, I never let my battery drain completely and charge it when it gets down to it's last bar.
Hope that helps.

Salam...
happy new year to all smart n8 users... have a rocking year with ur N8s
Anonymous, 31 Dec 2010i have now my nokia n8. i like it a lot but i think that it could bring more RAM. for default ... moreur mixing between rams and C:/phone memory
the sms and some applications are saved in the "phone memory".. yes its a bit low, but to be fair i've had 130mb free for 2 months now... its good enough, just save all ur sms and application to the 16gb flash memory
The RAM is something different, you cant save stuff to the ram, ram is just a temp memory used by running applications, 256 is ENOUGH for the N8, i run 10+ "heavy" apps with no probs or slow down, you cant do that with nearly any other phone(apart from the N900 i guess)
but yea, the more the merrier :D , same with processor speed, as long as it dosnt effect battery life
the n8 have got some problems(browser, keyboard etc), Rams and proccessor aint one of them...

i have now my nokia n8. i like it a lot but i think that it could bring more RAM. for default you have only 180MB to use. if you get 1000 SMS in the box you will have 160MB to use. then you will have "not answer calls" and other things. the new software put the nokia n8 faster with a low cost CPU and it it´s great to improve the battery life time :D
the GPS is really good. if you have a n97 you will need to wait about 5 minutes so start the travel. with the nokia n8 you wait 2 or 5 seconds.
i only ask better CPU and more RAM for the future nokia phone. 1GH or more and 512mb or more :P
[deleted post]i tried sending the files to you but it`s to big 40 mb and 53 mb but thanks anyway
