ani, 20 Sep 2013Hi, can someone help me with nokia stor, cause when i click lunch,it doesn't lunch at all, or... moreAll the info you need for that and much more can be found if you go back a few pages. It will be worth your while to find the time to go and read up. Just work on your contingency plan. The N8 is about 3 years old, I think. I have some Nokia phones real long now and they are going good as the day I bought them. Not one of my Nokia phones ever died on me, no matter how old. So, treat your battery good and you can enjoy your N8 for a long time yet with normal use - not abuse.
Hi,
can someone help me with nokia stor, cause when i click lunch,it doesn't lunch at all, or it says that nokia store is not for your device...
MdN, 19 Sep 2013Well, I think you won't find Symbian viruses on the internet. I don't think anyone would bothe... more:-D How are you? Oh! I’m not bothered about that stupid virus at all because it is not affecting the phone system in any way. Nobody’s wasting their time to manufacture a Symbian virus as you said, so the attack may be a little oblique, maybe?
Well, hey! Your answer was so enlightening! I am now more puzzled than ever :-)). So, it is not a Symbian virus because nobody makes them; it is not from the internet; and it is not a PC virus by the mere fact that it was detected, because Symbian antivirus will not detect PC viruses. So what the hell is it? A phantom virus :-D ??? Good suggestion though. I’ll scan it on the PC.
I really see and feel that this is the best smartphone ever made. Awesome battery performance, crisp neat screen Gorilla glass protected, USB on the go Just unbelievably flexible, perfect picture and video in any situation. Great, i mean GREAT sound, full personalization of screen menus an themes. LOTS and LOTS of HD games. Compatibility with Nintendo´s WII Remote and PS3 Remote controllers, real HD HDMI out, i can go on and on. Just Superb. Sad that NOKIA ditch Symbian and went with Windows Phone, lame move

I don't think anyone would bother to make one when there's Android. And I doubt any Symbian antivirus will detect PC viruses. If you're worried you can connect your N8 to PC in mass storage mode and scan it with your PC antivirus. Also, if you actually manage to get a PC virus on your phone I'm sure the antivirus on your PC would detect it.
Anonymous, 19 Sep 2013Which anti virus is good for N8 if i download thru Nokia store ?? & if no anti virus is g... moreI've been using this phone for three years now. You don't need an Anti-Virus trust me. You won't even find viruses designed for Symbian devices.
Anonymous, 19 Sep 2013Which anti virus is good for N8 if i download thru Nokia store ?? & if no anti virus is g... moreI hope you get an expert answer to your appeal but to keep your problem bouncing, here goes (at the risk of sounding stupid). Are you sure you did not put your phone into crisis mode by loading it up with too much stuff? Do you have a ton load of emails and other stuff on it? Have you considered that by deleting the anti-virus apps you may have gotten back some badly needed mbs, thus the improvement you saw?
I installed Kaspersky first, then uninstalled it (never paid any attention to it). Then I installed NetQin and investigated it (maybe because it was “pretty”). I tried the garbage clearing and I was amazed at the amount of “garbage” that had accumulated in about 6 wks of gentle use (which took up space). I also got back about 25 mbs when I optimized. So now, I do the routine every week or so – just to feel good :-), especially when it says “Your phone is running good” :-).
I just updated the Virus DB which I neglected for far too long. I see I have a Security Alert. It says:
Virus name: s.expense.ClearLog.b
Threat level: Medium
Can’t imagine where that came from and as far as I see, it is not affecting my phone’s performance. Apparently, it causes data loss – but I don’t use data anyway, only WiFi. I would like to think that NetQin is doing its job??? I would not like to think that the virus got in because of NetQin!!! So far, I have not experienced that switching on & off, so I am not too sure that NetQin per se, caused it.
There you go! Some thoughts on the virus problem from a newbie. BTW, I don’t think there are much anti-virus options available.
this is a bst phone of nokia.ihave been using this phone for6months.i don't want to change this phone

If not, just don't bother your head about it. It is only 2 years old and has a long way to go yet. When the time comes around that you have to get a new phone, you'll know what to do. If you are not impressed with any on the market then, just go: eenie, minnie, mynie, moe and pick any of the bad lot :-). But I am sure that by then, it would not reach to that. Let not your heart be troubled. We will all face that time. C'est la vie!

Which anti virus is good for N8 if i download thru Nokia store ?? & if no anti virus is good in store, which anti virus is good & thru which site i can get it. I first used kaspersky & then netquin, But they resulted in switching off & on my cell automatically almost for 20 times. I thought that my N8 needs servicing But anyhow i managed to delete these anti viruses & then cell was Ok. So i dont want to take any risk again But also cant keep my cell an open source to invite viruses as i use Bluetooth & OTG system quite often. Plz help.

MdN, 16 Sep 2013I've heard about some people ruining the spring, somewhere, but don't take my word for it. Wel... moreThanks again for you app suggestions. I downloaded both apps to my PC but after some thought, I just decided to live and let live. After all, it is a Nokia phone :-) according to Carol. I am quite interested in the second one though. Oh! Never mind about what you did not understand - it doesn’t matter. It was only about my “give back” hobby. When you make a commitment to “give back” something (receiving all the time just does not cut it), you just go through and do what you have to do regardless of the cost to yourself…even if you have to survive in a steaming environment (that gets hotter by the hour) for a long period, on one cup of coffee, while you do your thing :-). You feel good afterwards even though you end up half dead :-))). And you are glad that in between you remember to take a few photos.
Carol, 17 Sep 2013I won't be that worried about the slider to tell you the truth. It is nokia for God sake!:). B... moreHave to admit, I came to that conclusion last night. I'm saying like - what the hell am I worrying about slider for? Huh? I really don't see anybody complaining about a broken slider so maybe that is not an inherent problem. Let me just enjoy the darn phone and be done with it.
And you are so right! Nokia phones are built to last and let's face it, the N8 is a TANK! You can just feel it by the weight. And if I say so, is so! When it finally dies, I'll just weep a bit, give it a decent burial and offer a toast to the outstanding warrior it was. But I don't see that happening in a loooong while! So whoever have it, had better not sell theirs to rush off and buy some other competing brand. The N8 is in a class by itself. But you have to learn it as I found out the hard way.
For the guy who is worried about virus. I KNOW how you feel! My “comfort” blanket is Netqin. I like seeing, “Scanning for virus” going across the screen :-), although as Carol said, the likelihood of viruses affecting the phone during normal use is zero. But perhaps it may tell you IF you are importing any from your flash drive. More important to me is the “SYS organization” which “Optimizes”, “clears garbage” and “releases storage space”, The app comes with 6 things:- Network manager, Update virus DB, privacy protection, anti-lost, SYS organization and Contacts backup and I only use one (SYS organization) regularly. I dunno, maybe you can try it and if it doesn’t boost your confidence, just uninstall it. Mine is staying. It is my pacifier :-))).
