Ajay, 18 Dec 2010Hi, the n8 is really not worth the money. I bought one on sept 12th, the day it released in in... moreI have had my N8 for about a month now, and it is fantastic. I own an Android device and though I could customize to my hearts content, stock Android still sucks for Email & Music. S^3 is better is both cases
I own an N900, and the N8 is just so much more refined, even though Maemo 5 is more to my liking even than S^3
I have an iPod Touch, so I have a great deal of iOS apps, but I consider this a toy, and really the poorest of the big 3, since you are basically stuck with whatever mr Jobs tells you to use.
Nokia, the N8 and S^3 are a complete and utter win.
I do recommend everyone to use this app http://store.ovi.com/content/62867
it works a lot smoother than a hierarchy of folders (which I do like for storage, but not for navigating)
And I also recommend to disable all theme effects. This greatly speeds up the homescreens. I have had people in the store amazed because all of the "lag" was gone. It isnt lag actually, but part of the theme effect. Disabling this changes your homescreens to swich immediately and quickly. Faster than I could do it on my Android device!
I hate nokia india for increasing price of nokia n8 by 1000 rupees.
microsoft, 17 Dec 2010Marko
apart from the very bad grammar, your reasoning is seriously flawed
If say you buy an ... more... yes , i always buy nokia phones , i know its expensive first , and i usually wait several months for the price drop ,
but as i said , i paid the big money cause i didnt wanna wait and i got screwed big time so i will never buy early again and i dont plan on buying nokia due to the extreeeemly poooooor attitude and customer service ....
if u gonna use ur phone for long term plz dont buy this crap
they just ripping off money indirectly from their vi store keeping high end phone price same as b4
when N8 promo came out from nokia over youtube
i was so excited that nokia brought something adorable
and all previews of n8 were pretty impressive
then i thought it could be a good one for everything
what i want is good touchscreen, multimedia and good camera phone
first of all touch screen is far good than those resistive nokia screens b4 but not really as good as other competative phones becuz of lag.
music quality is very good and same for video
but processor is pretty outdated one same was used in iphone 3gs i think.
good multimedia phone needs multitasking which is there on N8 but where is RAM ? (memory)
games are laggy some places.
and NO GYRO ?
then i saw iphone 4 which was also good to look
but antenna issues + glassgate.
finally samsung galaxy was really good even though its camera maynot be like n8.
i dont know why nokia dont change symbian.
even cost of apps are high on ovi store OMG compared to apple's appstore and android marketplace
angry birds on apple app store is 1 dollar while on ovi store is 2 EUROS !!
even many apps like soundhound etc etc
bye bye nokia forever
Recently got my nokia N8 and I love it.....
great camera, vedio recording is good....
nice reception, ya beetry life is not that long . in a week its hang only once while using you tube with lots of application in background.
Abhishek Chaterjee, 18 Dec 2010 It's not that Nokia thinks Indians are dumb people; let's be real, whether they lower the pr... moredont think or say like that .. I think you are also indian then try to improve india.. India is a highly dynamic country it has many rich to many poor people many religion and caste many languages and many dumb to many intelligent people... Dont say stupid thing about your own origin country... Try to improve it and dont tease others misfortunes ...
zooz, 17 Dec 2010hey man ...depends how you use it but maximum 2 days i thinkwhich means if i wont use it, it will last for 2 days? is that so? what if I will keep on using it? how long would it be? and, how long should I recharge it?
thanks by the way :)
N8 Lover S, 18 Dec 2010You can say that n97 was crappy, but if you say that n86, n85, n73 was crappy, then you know N... morei think you are nokia addict ... I know some many people who suffered from there nokia models ... I am not saying that these models were bad but quality was very bad. Some got good one and some got faulty one..i am saying that quality checking in manufacturing is very bad.. And most of the nokia users have to update software hard reset backup their data etc ie most their life they spend in the maintenance of their phone so phone becomes part of their life like their wife.. And they become nokia addict...i am also one of them like you...i am also going for n8 for that camera and lets hope i get good one
everyone UPDATE your OVI maps NOW you will be VERY impressed
GPS lock is 2-5 secs
UI is smoother
orientation is quicker
HOLY man i'm busting a nut over this small update
i love what nokia is doing with these micro updates for their applications
if ovi maps is this solid and it's still in beta the finished and final version will crazy fast and have super slick features
you will not be dissapointed with this update at all
i guess this was a spit in the face to google and their google half @ss maps application
Hi, the n8 is really not worth the money. I bought one on sept 12th, the day it released in india. 10 days later the phone hang when i used the slide unlock. Nokia replaced the phone 2 weeks later, that phone wouldn't even come on. Then 15 days later, they again replaced it with a phone which wouldn't read any sim card. In the end i asked for my money back and am determined to never make the mistake of buying a high end nokia phone again
the real thing n8 is a problem phone.. it wont last more than 6months. dont be fooled by nokia's marketing strategy. they've spend alot promoting the phone but then their laying off 2000 workers. most of them in the symbian group, see symbian is a mess..
This is Nokia Mobile's....
send from my Nokia Mini Computer The N900.
nokia n8 wow its an amazing phone built in with 12mp carl zeiss what u can ask for with its fully digital features of a camera in a phone itself... when it terms in appearance its really cool, amoled and scratch proof.. unlike other branded fones.. WOW Amazing Go Nokia..... =)
Anonymous, 18 Dec 2010OMG, the N8 is number 2 now on the list! And there are at least 148,000 plus who voted. What d... moreI don't agree with the face "The best smart phone out there". Speaking honestly, there are no the Best, No i phone, no Droids, neither the Nokia. "The best" comes upon the user, For me N8 is "the best" for some one else iPhone could or a droid. Every manufacturer knows, and they are not on the path to produce "the best" they try to cater deferent kinds of users and they succeed in their own way.
But we need to think of an important fact, the definition for smart phone is changed. Now what you look for is a social phone, Symbian initiated the concept, but Android and iOS elevated it to biggest height and WP7 took it to an entirely new level. Symbian needs a lot of catch-up in socializing the OS.
For an example, HTC sence can bring all your social contacts to your phone in a breeze and link all the contacts together. Note it links not merge. SO it provide a better experience in getting touch with your contact. Symbian^3 has it, But its a deferent story, you have to manually link your FB contact with a phone contact and you can only search from one server, google, live or yahoo at a time. when you set upo an exchange connection it just merge the contacts and make it a mess.
I may need to tell about me here,I'm a Symbian user from 6600, I used WinMo for 6 months, Came back to Series 40 and went to android froyo with HTC sense from Symbian^1 but came back to symbian^3 within two months, soon after finding android is not my ship. Since i have tryied many OS and many phones i know the pros and cons of deferent platforms. The OS, phone and everything depends on the person.
For me Nokia N8 provides me what i missed in HTC desire. Currently N8 is the best for me, but its not the best of all phones. I have several issues with it, but it does all the jobs i require in one step or several steps were a lot of which were a no go in desire even with 1000 of steps.
OMG, the N8 is number 2 now on the list! And there are at least 148,000 plus who voted. What does this mean? Even if it's not number one and even if it's not on the list, the fact that there are these number of votes for/against it, it means it's THE most sought after smartphone! And the truth always comes out - it's the best smartphone out there.
Anonymous, 18 Dec 2010nokia may be the dominant phone manufacturer, but android is the dominant os. lets see if your... moreWell by logic, no phone can be considered 'alive' after 3 years, and the current trend is not helping at all as most high end phones are getting outdated faster day by day. Do you still want to buy the iphone 2g in 2010/2011?
Anonymous, 18 Dec 2010nokia may be the dominant phone manufacturer, but android is the dominant os. lets see if your... moreWhat an intelligent person, comparing android with N8, if you say samsung galaxy s or HTC desire will be alive after 3 years and N8 will be dead, we can say you gotta point. Ya android is the latest baby in mobile operating system, but Symbian is a grown adult at least 5 years older than Android. Ya, I'm sure that Symbian will be alive powering more and more devices even after 5 years.
