AnonD-172944, 05 Sep 2013what is the price difference between both? am about purchasing N8 online for 348 dollars but ... moreIn my country S4 unlocked is around 1000 dollars (the same for HTC One or Xperia Z) and N8 in good condition 200 dollars. 348 dollars is OK if the phone is new, for that much I could only get an old S2.

nani, 03 Sep 2013Dear Friends, I want buy N8 . Opinion me for this handset. any problem on this set. what is ba... moreThere are no problems when you learn how to use it (just like any other phone). The battery is like any other smartphone, 1 day heavy use or 2-3 days normal use... As for games, you can go to Nokia Store on your PC, select N8 as your phone and see what is available. The games you named don't exist for Symbian but a lot of other games do. Skype is supported, and a lot of other apps, but some are missing. It depends on your needs. If you have other questions, you're welcome to ask.

OK, seems I’ve been using only the on-screen shutter all along. Did not know there was a ... more:-) Well the shutter button is still useful, there's an app called QuickCam that makes it possible to start the camera even when the phone is locked. 2 seconds and ready to shoot. Also it has a half-press to focus and full press to snap, so you can focus on something, reframe and take a photo with the focus on something that's not in the middle of the picture. Try that some time. ;-)
Argh, stupid iLivid. No idea what it is, but I've seen it enough times. Try looking for Harald Meyer CameraPro 3.4.6 or 3.4.5 on Google, but be careful NOT to get the 808/PureView version, that one won't work on N8 any more (there used to be one version for all). Just install it and start learning how to use it slowly, I had it for a few weeks before I started seriously using it. I can help you with the set up etc.
Hey people. Apparently nokia sold it's soul to microsoft officialy today. (so Elop ended up doing what all people suspected beaides me, cause i was convinced it is not true). So for me, this will probably be my last Nokia device. Unfortunatly there are to few options, there will be a very hard day when my n8 needs to retire. Keep Symbian alive. Right now i wish an 808 so i can have a few years more with real Nokia and real system. Nokia just destroyed it self. Really sad.
NokiaMokia, 03 Sep 2013RIP nokia, nokia did this great phone 3 years ago and now nokia is gone. I cant understand how... moreYes, so many bad decisions and bad timing, and the competition didn't wait. N8 is a great phone, but by the time they released it and fixed the bugs (with Anna) Apple already had FOUR iPhones and Android phones had dual core. I don't know what will happen now. Some people were buying Lumias just because they trusted the Nokia name behind them, even with all the flaws in the OS, but I don't think people will rush to buy a Microsoft Lumia. I wonder what happens with Symbian and the promised support until 2016 now. But there's still a lot of support online, and with Nokia quality they should work for at least a few more years. After that... I don't know where to go. At least today I can't think clearly about this.

OK, seems I’ve been using only the on-screen shutter all along. Did not know there was a shutter button too (had a little confusion of the brain over this shutter business). I would imagine that button is at the lower rt. side of the phone called "camera key" according to a user guide I just found. OK. So I won't be using the shutter button because that is too hard to press. I'll end up shaking more if I use it. I failed to download Camera Pro. I kept seeing iLivid and nothing happened thereafter. I wonder why I ended up with 7 iLivid things on my PC. Anyway, I deleted them all because I’m not sure they should be there at all. I tried downloading the app straight onto the phone through Opera Mini too, but it seems I am not doing something right. I give up! I’ll try again tomorrow if I have any energy left.

I agree about not buying data. I'm paying for the internet for my PC and I'm not paying the same thing twice. I just got some free data from my operator for this summer so I'm fine, when it runs out... I can get 200MB for 2 euro/month which will be more than I need when I'm not at home. Long live Opera Mini. Ah, Medicine Man, saw that one a few times. :-)
I know, I know, you HAVE to keep still in low light. Use the on-screen shutter instead of the shutter button, hold the phone tight etc. Practice, practice, practice! :-) At low light the exposure can be as low as one fifth of a second and my arms can go quite a distance in that time. Or put you phone on something that doesn't move. I tried something... If I use CameraPro, zoom all the way (more than the default camera can) to some distant object and put my phone on my knee when I'm sitting down, I can still see the picture jumping a little every second, when my heart beats. So the trick is to take a photo between two heartbeats? :-D Sometimes I think I should glue the phone to a brick to keep it heavier and steadier. :-) On the first week after I bought the N8 I went home from somewhere, it was snowing, late night and there were no cars so I stood in the middle of the road and took a few shots. I thought my arms were steady but when I saw the photos later... They were not. Today I could take the same photo and have it sharp, but now there's no snow. :-)
