Nokia might delay the launch of Meego OS.
That is why they have introduced Symbian*3.
Anonymous, 13 Dec 2010i really think you need to spend more time with the n8 to judge. the CONS that you mentioned a... moreDear all friends..,
Since I've given my personal idea regarding my personal experience with N8, I have been criticized that I had underestimated the phone... May be it's true because I only had about 45 minutes to play with it... So it's not at all to judge anything...
But...
Let me tell you these...
I'm NOT a newbie to Symbian world... I have used several symbian phones (all are Nokias) and I have played with it up to the extremes... (For an example, my current mobile was hacked first.. Now I'm using a custom firmware with lots of ROMpatcher patches and Modds... If I were a Nokia newbie or Symbian newbie I will not be able to do those kind of stuff...)
Anyway, Nokia N8 is officially hacked now so there that is a positive news...!
However let me tell you certain things...
## First I did not want to compare Nokia N8 with Nokia 5530... (Both have their own specialties..) For an example I said "5530 resolution is better than N8.." when I said it, I didn't mean just the resolution... because any baby knows that both phones have the same resolution... (640 x 360 If remember correct..) But I didn't mean that.. I meant the density of the pixels... (5530 has 640 x 360 in just 2.9 inch display while N8 has the same in 3.5 big screen...) Do you get what I'm saying now...? (Still 5530 is the highest pixel density phone Nokia has made so far... and it's pretty noticeable... Just put both phones nearby and see by yourself... I did so...)
HOWEVER...
Nokia 5530 screen SUCKS when it comes to sun light legibility... In that apartment, N8 wins by miles due to its great AMOLED screen...!
(Very funny... Someone has tried to compare Capacitive and Resistive touch screen by its look...! Being capacitive or resistive has NOTHING to do with screen resolution or colors..! Some guys are using great phones like N8 but don't even know these simple stuff...!)
## When it comes to Music also, 5530 is way better than N8... (I repeat... 5530 Xpress music performed way better than N8...) But remember... I did not mean loudspeaker sound quality... I meant the sound out put from headsets... (I checked using same song and same headset jut to be reasonable...) However I have to agree even though N8 has mono loudspeakers, it's louder than stereo speakers of 5530...
I'm not a guy who hates N8 just like other Samsung or Apple fan boys... but I just said, Nokia would have done in the software department much better than this... (Plus introducing higher resolution display with Nokia clear black option like in C6-01)
I couldn't understand why Nokia introduced symbian*3 when Meego is going to be their flagship device-os in the near future.
Thus it means that arrival of symbian*3 is a clear indication that Meego is not going to be announced in 2011 ???...
glendy and glancy..performance
akhilesh, 12 Dec 2010no no nokia n8 its useless and comparatively very poor performance than samsung's pixon and g... moreyou can't compare pixon with N8. pixon is just a digital camera and nothing more. it even doesn't have an OS and it's really terrible for a cell phone now. and about the galaxy: it even doesn't have a LED flash. poor speaker performance. and N8 has usb OTG(on-the-go) that this ability makes this smart phone to a laptop. so don't bother...
First time nokia bring out a stylish mobile. can anyone tell me that how's the music and pic quality of n8? Please comment...........

blah blah king, 12 Dec 2010let me answer that for you..these are the things i really find amazing on this phone..they may... moreThanks, for your response. At least for me, the only one of those points that is of any importance to me is Ovi Maps. I used it extensively on my vacation when I had an N97. The lane indicator is the best feature when navigating through unfamiliar streets and highways.
As for the browser fix. I'm aware it is coming in February. I just did not want to wait that long. It is unfortunate that what I'm looking for is months away.
[deleted post]and your here just to say that?. or you just dont have the money to buy and bash this phone till the end?
Guys i prefer Samsung 8530 compare to N8
N8 is an excellent performer in all respect i.e. Built quality, shape, camera, display and multimedia. Only a little flaw left there, my friends new N8 get damaged by accumulating moisture and dust within 25 days of purchase. This cause total damage of board. Nokia care will take 1 month to replace the board. Though this is a rare incident, I would like to request all N8 owner please be careful about this exposed micro USB port and clean the port with soft cotton swab or fine brush occasionally. I use a sticky tape to cover the port when not in use. Thanks

The price difference between C7 and N8 in my country now is very big, almost 200 USD. C7 costs around 400 USD while N8 now costs about 580-600 USD. I am wondering what caused this big difference. According to Nokia's pricing, N8 should be around 60-80 USD costlier than C7. Can all of you share the cost of C7 and N8 in your countries?
Nuwan, 12 Dec 2010Dear all friends,
I had the opportunity to hold Nokia N8 in my hand and to go through it fo... morei really think you need to spend more time with the n8 to judge. the CONS that you mentioned are things that i would totally disagree with.
ive had the n8 for almost 2 months now and im very happy with it. its runs great, music is great and the resolution is especially NOT mediocre. it probably isnt the best but its pretty damn good i think.
the only concern i have is that it doesnt last as long as i though it would (obviously it last more than a day but i thought it last for at least 2 whole days with constant use, i guess thats asking too much....)
nevertheless, i think you should try it again for a longer amount of time if you are a fan of symbian. every now and then there are little bugs that are a little annoying but i can live with it. because i think functionalities weigh more than those very few bugs
Hi,
Please help. I got N8 a month back and now when i try to start internet on phone it says connection failed even it is on online mode and i have to switch off and switch on my phone every time...
how is the music output compared to 5800
Nuwan, 12 Dec 2010Dear all friends,
I had the opportunity to hold Nokia N8 in my hand and to go through it fo... moreLets start here. The n8 and 5530 have the same screen resolotion. Its the density thats different. But still, having used an n97 which has the exact same screen density as an n8, i say you're talking bullshit. nHD on a 3.5 inch screen is at worst adequate.
While i've never used a 5530m before, i'ld expect that the n8s class 12 speakers be louder but even if they weren't. The 5530 is a music phone. Its like comparing the n97 to the 5800.
If you don't like the menu style, get a shell or a droid. You went to check out a symbian device and expected not to symbian.
Ammoled is as good as s amoled. The only real advantage samoled has is sunlight legibility. Thats not to say the legibility of the n8 is bad. Its better than the n97 and thats saying something. Either way, you coming from a tft resistive display should worship its screen if you weren't just a stupid troll.
I too think the phone could have been smaller but it isn't too big now is it? Its about the same size as the iphone for one.
How can one determine if the N8 unit purchased is from the first or second manufacturing batch?????
