My phone lost and i want to formate specil and privet data on it ihave serial no can i do it through worled wide wirless?
MdN, 23 Aug 2013I only did a little research, apparently there are problems with some 32 or 64GB cards of some... moreWell, if 16GB is almost 4 DVD's, then the advice was good because no way I can find, lets say 7 DVD's worth of stuff to put in the phone. OMG! I'll forget what I have for sure. I can be more lavish now and download like crazy :-). I never thought I would go into a store and the clerk would discourage me from buying! The whole incident was amusing :-). Where do you think SanDisk fits? Slow or middle? That's all I've seen around here and "no name" which I refuse to buy. Fast card and slow card??? Who woulda thought!
Shush! Thanks for your advice on downloading videos and suggesting what apps to use. I like YouTube Downloader Pro which records mp3's as well. Normally I just watch straight off the PC so I'll try this and keep a few videos on the phone for when I have to wait in boredom somewhere. Of course you will have realized I was just grand-charging about HDMI. I don't know a damn thing about it :-)))).
Like you, my newly recorded guitar tuner is mainly for emergency. I normally use my old Korg but the readings for the 2nd & 3rd strings are inaccurate so I always have to tweak those. So I can now use both together and get it right (I tried it). But the best part is I don't have to walk with the Korg at all what with it being almost as big as the phone. If it is a bit out of tune, nobody cares but me (it jars my ears)! The other people won't even notice. I did not see you on Zedge.
Stupid me, 22 Aug 2013Is it true that if you put a big memory card into your phone it slows it down and may even cau... moreI only did a little research, apparently there are problems with some 32 or 64GB cards of some brands but 16GB generally works, and since it's enough for me I went with that. Hey, I have as much memory as some "flagship" phones now, and I can always get another spare card. There are reasons causing phones to slow down, yes. Cards come in different "Classes" (read/write speed) so if it's low class (slower than the phone) it can cause stutter, but Class 10 is faster than this phone so there shouldn't be problems. N8 officially supports up to 32GB but I see people can use 64 too.
Also, phone/PC writes files in the first available space, so the files can get fragmented, one file with parts in many different places. This shouldn't cause lags but somehow it does. But they can be defragmented too. :-) My other phone would start reading photos from the gallery really slow, but when I defragmented the card it turned back to normal. Well, 16GB is almost 4 DVDs which is a lot, unless you record HD video.
The built-in Voice Recorder is quite great. I tried recording some rain and thunder sounds from my window and it was okay, very little noise (if any) and good bass and treble... And someone speaking in the other room ruining my recording! >:-/
I tried some other sound recorders but they are mostly call recorders "without the beep sound" (who cares) and bad interface, the only one I kept is Audio Recorder Pro which can even record in CD quality. There's a mono/stereo option too but I couldn't get it to record stereo. By the way, N8 has some sort of electronic microphones capable of recording up to 115 decibels with no distortion. Not as good as 140 on the 808 but still very decent and very loud. :-)
I normally use freeware called Guitools on my PC for guitar tuning. The ones on my phone are just for emergency or "just because". :-) Well, since I play black metal I don't need to be 100% in tune, haha. I'm just so glad it's working, my other phone had some noise reduction where silent sounds would just be cut off, it drove me mad as I couldn't find an app for it.
Downloading videos? Easy! :-) YouTube Downloader is free at Nokia Store, there's also a free version of FastTube - you can use both to browse, watch or download videos. There's also YouTube Downloader Pro which can, in addition, download just mp3 from a YouTube video. Then there's YouTube downloader for PC, a "1-click YouTube Video Downloader" for Firefox and... Blah, blah... :-) So, just find the video you want, choose 360p (if you'll only watch it on your phone), hit "download" and wait a while.
MdN, 22 Aug 2013I wasn't even planning to get a memory card soon, as 16 GB is quite enough for now, but... Tod... moreIs it true that if you put a big memory card into your phone it slows it down and may even cause it to hang? The store clerk convinced me to put in a 16GB instead of a 32GB when I was adamant I wanted one. The transaction ended up involving everybody around. They all felt I could not fill the 16GB on the phone far less a memory card too. I don't know. They made it sound as if 16 GB is a humongous size but to me it sounds like a little bit. Maybe it is being real adventurous to put a 64GB into your phone. I won't have the nerve for that.
Have you noticed how accurate the Voice Recorder is? I felt it was so useless to have downloaded 2 audio guitar tuners that I decided to fix that! I searched the web and got a good audio tuner on my PC. I recorded it off the speaker and presto. I deleted the 2 apps. I really can't tell the difference if by chance it is a little off (which I doubt). Ever recorded something and when you try to play along with the same guitar that you recorded, they sound totally different? That is the pits! Or you're trying to figure out the chords from a recording and you're hearing one thing on the recording and another key on the guitar? That is a mental adjustment nightmare. I'm so glad that the phone's Voice Recorder has eliminated that problem for me. Shush! I don't know how to download a video, never tried.
AnonD-20890, 20 Aug 2013To all : Sandisk ultra class 10 micro SD card was detected* (at 59.3 GB) in Nokia N8-00**, ... moreI wasn't even planning to get a memory card soon, as 16 GB is quite enough for now, but... Today I had a chance to get a 16 GB Transcend, Class 10, for a nice price, and I bought it. Works right away, loaded some videos, no problems. Now my memory is doubled and I have so much free space in my phone I'm afraid it will fly away like a balloon. :-)

alen, 20 Aug 2013were would i download TTpot music player compatible for N8 belle ref.....You can download QuasarMX Music Player from Nokia Store. It's one the best Music Player money can buy. Beside MP3 QuasarMX also support flac audio format (which is better than MP3). Enjoy the MUSIC.

Though, myExplorer is a very good app for accessing the pc via wifi is not quite as good as x-plore when it comes to manage files in your phone (at least, not for for me) i tried them all and x-plore is the only app offering a full potential file manager with a great, fast, handy UI.

"Duktor5" looks more like my level. My Belle wish list is getting longer & longer as I dither over upgrading. I think I'll post my N8 to MdN or Carol and let either of them do it for me :-) so if my baby dies during the operation they can resuscitate it immediately. You're quite a rascal huh? Lying and making us laugh. Well, I certainly cracked up. I'm sure it was taken in good spirit :-). And BTW, every N8 is special – don’t think the android evangelist that loves coming here will appreciate that statement.

as for my n8 speaking capabilities, well, i lied, of course it speaks but i said it to make that 'fearless' guy feel good for having the most special n8 ever, lololol :D

Hey! MyExplore is on my wish list. When I saw I could transfer files via wifi I thought it looked like a good one to get. Now, it seems like it is too advanced for me. I got no where tinkering with voice command. I ended up like Rad-K :-), talking to the phone and getting no answer:-) :-). I tried proposing too, but the guy wouldn't answer!!! The jerk! I'll try again tomorrow.
Rad-K, I really wish someone out there can help you. The only thing I can say (and maybe you saw it too) is that after Jan 2013, device software downloading will be possible only by using the latest software releases with service NOL login supported. Hope that makes sense to you. My vague interpretation is that you now have to log in somewhere if you want to download Belle Refresh. It used to be available elsewhere but Nokia stopped it. There MUST be a way to get it, surely.

Opens zip, rar, 7z and a few others. And I use it to exchange files through wifi between my PC and my phone. As for Refresh, did you try through Nokia Suite? Though, I talked to someone who still hasn't got Belle Refresh on his C7 even with Suite, so, it's all a bit weird. I suppose there are ways to get it unofficially if you're good with Phoenix...
A question for anyone who may know: is belle refresh update still available? I got it Ota when it was first launched, but i had to reinstall software and now it's gone.... My n8 is back at the 2011 symbian version and no 'Refresh' is shown anymore neither through regular updates app nor device manager updates option

AnonD-20890, 19 Aug 2013Carol, Whats this? http://www.wondershare.com/android-manager/It is just a file manager. You can transfer files, copy paste, install uninstall and so on. Not something verrrry interesting. Would be good for ios (cause is a crap os and you cannot do that) but androcrap is a Symbian wannabe, so as far as i know you can do all of this without a special app... or?

Actually I just whisper "camera" and it turns the camera on... However, after that it doesn't react to "shoot" or "take a photo" or "snap!!!" so I guess it needs some improvement. :-)
Zedge is a website with ringtones, themes, wallpapers etc for mobile phones. I have a page there (with 700000 downloads and counting) and just thought you might want to continue the chat there as I could post more links but since you don't know what it is, never mind. ;-)

I'm going to check out what you mentioned and get back to you. Zedge sounds like something I should have, only thing is, I don't know what it is. I'll google it. There's some stuff on this page that I haven't got a clue about, like exFAT and FAT 32. Hm.
BTW. I looked at all the links and really enjoyed them.
AnonD-133243, 20 Aug 2013strange, i spoke to my n8 too but it didn't reply to me Try adding the "Voice commands" shortcut to your home screen and you CAN talk to it, and it will reply. :-D
