If i gave you an answer would you actually follow it.
Questions like this are pointless, a bit like the X factor the phones specs can be compared using the something or other function.
This is the Nokia N8 forum so whilst 99.999% will say Nokia N8. I am going to be bold ina answering.
As you are undecided and need our help i'm gonna tell you what my mother would tell me in a situatiojn like this GET BOTH NOKIA N8 & S8500 YES TRY BOTH OF THEM! AND THEN MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND WHICH YOU PREFER.
99.999% will say Nokia N8 but they are just biased they are looking at the specifications (WOW), and clicking on that button that bring up another phones specs and coming to a final decision.
Its like ice cream try them both and then decide. I am just glad you got it down to 2 mobiles
So Nokia N8 flavour or S8500

It just means that... moreThanks for the info Mac & Varun Arora it helps with say what resolution to use as 'standard' for those family shots etc. Mac says jpegs are impressive @ 9MP. I always go for the max resolution so with each mobile 1.3 MP to 3.2MP to now 5MP never 640x480 so I might take a couple @12MP then go to 9MP

I work for a phone company in Iceland and have experience with lots of phones. I'm very! pleased with the performance and features of my N8, not to mention the quality of the camera and video recorder :)

sammi, 08 Dec 2010help me...N8 i'm the only 1 so unlucky.... only 1day, my phone auto turn off, n when i on n... moreOops! visit to the Nokia gallery directly with your purchase proof... they give 2 yrs warranty... ask them to exchange with the new one... first be soft while speaking with them but if they don listen then u better know what to do with them... They r actually aware of all this issues.. Or Ask ur dealer to exchange it with another same model or refund the money...Be tough while speaking....

i'm the only 1 so unlucky.... only 1day, my phone auto turn off, n when i on n charge the phone... the n8 straight away hang.... i trying to turn off n on still cannot... dont know what can i do?? Than i straight away bring my phone to the dealer shop. They told me don't on when the battery low... hv to charge at least half n hours later n turn on the phone.
Day 2 when i wake up, my n8 auto turn off again. today i just send back to the shop... they nv change my phone for me... jus ask me to leave it... they will do checking for me...... wish can change another phone for me.
Any people got this problem?! I like n8 so much... b'coz is really friendly use, and easy. I the Sony Ericsson supported, but when i change to Nokia is no problem for me, and i found that is more easy than SE. For SE Vivaz for me is difficult n lousy.

Be aware of this phone, mine has turned itself off and refuses to restart. It has gone back to Nokia, I have read that this is a known issue and that Nokia are aware and will replace under their 2yr guarantee. search the web for N8 turns itself off

Have had N8 now 4 weeks. Absolutely superb phone. No problems at all. My only concern is that it is a little bit slippery in hand.
The best feature in my opinion is the free navigation. I travel a lot around the world and I can load country maps free of charge at home before travel. Now with the new version of OviMaps I can load maps directly to the phone, no PC needed.
