http://mobile.viaden.com/runmeter-for-iphone.html this does that, and works background, count them on background too. Now we are at point what i already knew, only people who really have used iphone multitasking knows what you can do with iphone multitasking and what not, i can tell those what not things hasn't many :)
That's why i dont want to listen that crap from users who really havent even tryed it, they just say it's bad because apple made it, and that's truth. If android had same multitasking almost everyone screaming how well it works but because apple did it, it's like shit and all time joke etc.
Like i sayed earlier, i did same things what i did my nokia full multitasking, i didn't give up any function. But now with WP7 i'm again situation where i was before iphone multitasking :)
The photo editor of N8 seems a bit laggy ... or is it only me ?: let me know other N8 users
3 Weeks of heavy use , 3 restarts , some memory full error while trying flash games , Opera mini shut down couple times and only once that damn shutter didn't open.
I think i can deal with this . :D
Ps : use power saver mode to save battery
I am using this phone from last 5 weeks ans its an awesome phone. I dint experienced any big issue till now. camera is too good, battery lyf too.

Aaron, 20 Nov 2010Nokia N8 - awesome hardware betrayed by awful software.
As much as I love this phone, but I ... moremy N8 dosnt look dated,
SPB + new opera mini.. the mob looks futuristic :)
i dont use a custom theme, coz basically im either inside an app or, in spb, back and forth etc.. rarely ever having to deal with the Symbian default UI, which isnt THAT bad imho
new apps coded with Qt, run and looks as well(better somtimes) then the competition
small example, the N8 music player,

fans cant shut up about it, thinking its DA phone,
others, cant shut up pointing the fact its an incredibly over priced limited toy, and those fans are being ripped off by apple..
arguing about the Iphone is like fighting a propaganda XD,
i got this 8 days before. i waited a long for it .but very disapoited its very slow on wi fi ...its good but not up to its wait...
Where those software engineers from NOKIA studied ??? They are not able to do 100% good job !!!
Nokia music player is useless aswell as Ovi suite, to much and not bright....students can do it better then engeneers from NOKIA !
Nokia N8 - awesome hardware betrayed by awful software.
As much as I love this phone, but I gotta admit Nokia can't make a software worthy to run the incredible hardware of this phone. The Symbian OS is the major con of N8. The user interface looks so ancient. Nokia didn't even bother to upgrade the built-in calculator. It's the same calculator you can find in the 8-year old Nokia 7650. The hardware is new. But the software that runs it looks so old.
Can we please not talk about the iPhone on this page? I'm so fed up with the nonsensical iPhone talk. Guys, move on please.
Anonymous, 20 Nov 2010"What about some nice sports app that tracks the route in the background and keeps statis... moreHaven't tried runtastic, I tried runkeeper and the "multitasking" part caused nothing but problems. Messing with pandora, really bad performance etc. Coming back again to the other points I listed.
Also it is quite nice to actually do something heavy on the phone, then notice that the sports app has actually died a while back...
I actually know quite well how the Apple "multitasking" works. Apple basically allows you to execute code on events (very resource limited piece of code). 3 triggers, audio, location, voip. Sure if you are willing to spend loads of time coding separate "multitasking" functionality and only add up GPS points in the background, you can create something like runtastic. What about a sports app that also counts your steps? Well sorry, there isn't any events fired from accelerometer. What about informing you on road blocks etc? Well I hope the app got that info while the user actually had that app open, because it sure as hell isn't going to start a status update in the background...
[deleted post]Heyyy let me tell you something, I used to have a Ipone 3 that always reboot, that i have to send like 4 times for warranty then i bougth the I4 danm it dropped calls and you know why i have now an N8? cause my Kid dropped my brand new phone and it got shattered!!!!
Apple did not accepted the fact that its product is crap so i check HTC Samsung And Nokia and got an N8 !!
Im so happy i have an Sturdy phone great features and Free maps and dont have to jailbreak anything im free of Steve Jobs!!!! $%^ You Apple!!
Something is bugging me here. The vote results here clearly show that n8 has 8.5 score (supportes + haters votes, mostly haters) in all aspects, and yet the n8 is not on the top 10 highest voting list (in the list there are some phones which scored less than 8.5)??? Could gsmarena pls explain.
Anonymous, 20 Nov 2010"Why can't I just connect to the phone as a massdrive or send the files over bluetooth.&q... moreNo doubt that the iphone does things differently than any other phones (but usually iphone takes the harder way).
In my country, bluetooth is the winner for file transfer between phones, hands down. Wifi and 3g might be faster, but there are some places where there is no wifi at all and 3g data cost can be quite costly in some countries.
Whats more, most of my friends just create email accounts so that they can sign up for facebook :D. After that, they wouldn't even log in to their email anymore.
So there you have it, iphone may do things differently, but it is not always the best way
Sails, 20 Nov 2010Sure, use an app if you have an mp3 and want a clip of that. Or that professonial audio editor... more"What about some nice sports app that tracks the route in the background and keeps statistics etc?"
I used runtastic PRO for that and it worked flawlessly on background, surprise surprise :)
This was again very good example that you think it can't do that without proper multitasking.
Anonymous, 20 Nov 2010Iphone don't need to close apps, because they dont slow down your phone, thats the beauty of i... moreSure, use an app if you have an mp3 and want a clip of that. Or that professonial audio editor on PC and then bluetooth the clip to the phone. Oh wait...
What if you don't need a clip? What if the mp3 is already a clipped? Are you seriously telling me "It is easy since there is an app out there that can do it!" ??
I'll summarize few key points, but I'm not going to argue anything more the multitasking. I'm pretty sure you will understand the difference one day. I'm sure that eventually there will even be proper multitasking on some iPhone 8G and then when Steve will explain how great it is, there will be enlightenment.
Here is few points to get you started:
-Programmers need to program it in = more work, half-assed implementations, bugs that can mess program or whole phone, no way of knowing if its implemented in this particular app etc.
-I still need that crappy task manager for apps that do implement background functions
-What if I don't want that particular game to reset in the background?
-no capability outside the ones that apple has thought of. What about some nice sports app that tracks the route in the background and keeps statistics etc?
