If you want a cheap plastic phone... buy a Samsung Galaxy.
If you want a phone with a joke OS... buy a Samsung Wave.
If you want a well built phone which won't break in 6 months and has the best camera on the planet... buy the NOKIA N8!
Use iphone 4, galaxy s, and n8. Best device is galaxy s then n8 then iphone 4. Use mac and windows all versions. Make sure you get a device that meets your needs. Galaxy has dlna and n8 usb OTG. Iphone only has itunes. Have any of you used your devices for sharing, copying or transferring? Hspa fastest on galaxy for those who need to know then iphone then n8. These comments from real use. Spec on paper and hear say not the best way to judge a device. Hope this helps.
I just sold my Iphone and got the N8 i love it!!!!!

i want to post my opinion after changing from an htc hd2 that i was using for 1 year to the n8.in general i have to say that i used to have a problemed machine and now i have a phone.i put a comparison with major functions to get an idea.
quality of sound 50% better for the n8
reception 100% better for the n8
stability 80% better for the n8
touch responce 30% better for the n8
screen 30% worst(htc brighter)
gps strength 40% worst
constraction both excellent
battery 20% better for the n8
speed 10% worst
averall i want to say that there are many things i miss on the htc but i am very happy that i use a phone now that i can trust and never let me down even once in a month i have it.
[deleted post]only the battery cover is metal
thats not saying much
and if it was made of plastic, every phone has metal in it, genius
[deleted post]Wave fanboy, get your facts straight: Wave is made of plastic not steel. Even if the case made of steel, anodized aluminum would bury it anywhere, anytime, any day.
NOKIA N8 with amazing shell, swype, and gmail!

Nokia N8 oh dear oh dear its an N97 in new clothing congratulations nokia on another fuck up just had an N8 to play with and it freezes and stutters like a good one 2 days old out of the box and its going back to t mobile ha ha i am laughing all the way to the bank i am so glad i am not buying one. In this day and age why cant they get it right first time instead of letting poor old joe public doing their road testing and then promising updates to fix the problem at a later date ,pathetic dont stand for it and boycot the company and their products its the only way they will take notice .yours sincerely spock99

and the best thing is, you wont need to buy a new phone every year
I have the N8 and I can confidently say it is a fantastic phone.
Even my friend who is an Android fanboy agreed it is a good phone.
However, there are some shortcomings mostly due to the OS, but they will be fixed with future firmware updates. One of the few disappointments for me though is the lack of a LED light on the back which means no video light and no torch application. The other being the loud speaker. The sound quality isn't as good as the 5800xm and being mounted on the back means the sound can be muffled whilst in your pocket.
The phone itself is one of the most stylish looking handsets out there next to the Samsung Wave. iphone has never struck me as being particularly good looking.
A shortcoming of the iphone 4 is the lack of a HDMI port, which is bizzare considering it can record video in HiDef.
The N8's connectivity is streets ahead of the competition, with bluetooth v3, HDMI, USB to PC and even USB to a USB memory stick! The FM transmitter is a good inclusion for listening to your music in the car without having to worry about cables.
Verdict then is 4 out of 5. But if Nokia fix the bugs with the OS it will score 5 out of 5.
Actually, i love the n8, its the best
but im trying to proove to myself i didnt bought the wrong phone
Nameless, 17 Nov 2010"An underpowered phone with nice features and an old buggy software. Even GSM Arena says ... more"http://www.techradar.com/revie...92448/review in the product summery its stated 'superb battery life'
http://blog.gsmarena.com/nokia...ot-the-best/ 'good but not the best' I failed to see the word 'poor' in the blog, only in your post here...
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/...70701,00.asp 'strong battery life' and the phone got only 2.5/5.
Do you need more? May I have a link that proves your 'poor' statement?"
I see you have worked well your answer, lol. Nice job. I reckon I could find bad comments about battery life because I read them, but I've conducted my own tests so I don't have to rely on anything else. I get paid for this, so I might know one or two things. When I say battery life is poor it means three things:
1.- It's a charge-every-day phone and full day working operation isn't a given.
2.- It's too easy to kill with intensive use.
2.- It's significantly short lived compared to competing models.
In my time with the N8, battery has been some kind of nightmare. Doing a little bit of everything, just as it's expected from an N8 owner, the battery wouldn't last a full day. What killed battery the most was downloading files from internet. I could kill it in less than 4 hours. iPhone 4 could last around 10 hours doing this (yes, I'm that sick) and battery lasted around two days doing regular use. Samsung Galaxy S takes comfort with a mark of around three days.
You can throw me any link you like, I will say the same: Nokia's N8 has poor battery life performance. Still, if it's good for you that's the only thing that counts. For many users and compared with iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S, it isn't.
"Um, don't know, could also post some links but the general consensus is that there are no noticeable differences when you play the same games on N8 and iphone4. How can you say it falls behind...? Any links, please?"
Ok, I have used that expression to give an effect. N8's GPU isn't bad at all, but the marketplace is some kind of sport. If you aren't number one... And don't forget how GPUs don't work alone. N8 clearly falls short in CPU, resolution, RAM ammount and bandwidth.
Good challenging post mate. Cheers!
