Guys, what would cause my N8 to shutdown when using the ovi gps? Works bloody well but just shuts down and phone restarts. Should i take it to nokia care or just hard reset it? No major apps installed. 3 hd games and opera, thats it.

i have solved my problem
i can confirm that hard reset using *#7370# will not remove qt 4.7 and ovi maps, it is my joikuspot wifi in my n97 mini or maybe on n8 that caused the problem.
So far, n8 is still the best

Gitty, 13 Nov 2010Have u removed the cover 4m d screen ?Hey man you seems so happy with r n8 though it's re starting frequently.what did you install previously which wasn't supported for n8?i don understand just one thing if you remove all kind of stuff then how it's possible to restarting issue again and again.I'm sure it's not nokia s fault....

You can also try to download OVI apps to your PC and install in your phone using OVI Suite.
If it won't work try to fix your phone and reinstall OVI Store. Follow this:
Option1: Backup your phone, numbers, Contacts, photos, games, etc before doing this!:
Go to step by step:
1.Menu
2.Settings
3.Phone
4.Phone Management
5.Original Settings
6.Remove all and Restore
Option2:
Install OVI Suite and Nokia Software Updater in your PC.
After you successfully connected your phone to your PC. Run Noia software updater & it will check for a new firmware for your phone. Since there is no update release yet, it will say you have the latest software and will ask if you want to reinstall. Select reinstall. I haven't personally tried it yet coz I don't have problem like yours but it works on my previous Nokia phones.

i had this on the day it came out n after 4 days i was listening to the music suddenly it died , i thought it was the battery was empty but i tried chagrining it it wont respond i did everything i could but it didn't work . so i called nokia care n i gave them back the phone n they said will change it for me . did anyone had this problem or problems ? if u didn't than check on Google how many people had problems with their n8 . just write { nokia n8 faults }.

Whereas the X12 aka Anzu is a real phone ... moreHow can it be real when it is not even present in the SE website and the gossip is coming from unknown person or persons. That is still a barber's shop gossip!
Hope SE will release it so that you will be out of your dream. But do you think, if in case, for how much maybe it will cost? SE always is always comparable to Iphone in terms of price.

insaneman, 13 Nov 2010i have to agree with you about the flash i think the flash on my satio was better then the n8 ... moreya i agree with you...flash on satio is much better than that of n8...as satio has two flash i.e xenon and led bt n8 has jst 1...so this explains the whole thing...this is the only thing i dun like in my phn...rest it is d best....

hmmmmm, 13 Nov 2010the n8 is an amazing phone.
The photos are so clear
the browser is abit slow even through us... morethe new opera mini(coded for symbian) is fast enough dude...
sadly it dosnt use gpu, dosnt support flash, and some java scripts :(
